Something about this video feels like when two best friends check on each other every couple of years.
I love it. Mac gettin out of his studio, Benny stepping away from his piano, both really hardworking musicians acknowledging that there is a time to not think about music and just have a day doin’ nothin but putter around the house and walk through a garden. It’s not always about producing... but it’s a really cool concept so let’s make a song out of it lol
Interesting! I actually interpreted this song a different way. I saw it more of them struggling to want to do what they love most so they roll it up for the time being. Maybe we're both right or maybe mac represents your point of you and benny mine, but it's cool that a song can have a few different interpretations.

@@Joey-fq5rr Two years later but hey here we are. Mac DeMarco actually said in an interview that he felt pretty hopeless with his music and that there wasn't really a point to it if he couldn't perform for people. The pandemic hit him and his music pretty hard, and this was, as far as I remember, the only track that he was featured on during that time. Mac wouldn't release another album until earlier this year in January (2023). I bumped this often in 2020, and when I look back on it I swell up with that pandemic vibe, of being locked up and holed away.

Notice how during every part Mac sings there is a funky vintage synth layer (which is almost a signature of Mac’s modern sound) that transitions into a string section when Benny sings to contrast the styles and verses. I love this song!

I've been really depressed not being able to be mobile with my favorite month happening. All plans canceled. Two kids. So the whole thing has been super stressful for me but I've been trying to be positive. I've recently discovered Benny Sings a couple months ago and Mac has been a favorite for years now. This song is just pure gold to me and has honestly made my day completely better. Thank you.
