  • A quick review of the new Kryptotal tires from Conti.
    Pros:
Super grimy on rock, hardpack and loose over hard
Very stiff sidewall = very little deformation under hard cornering and dent/flat resistance
They look great and wear well (so far)
    Cons:
Hard to install (even without Cush core)
DH/Super soft compound rolls slowly (not ideal for a trail or enduro bike)
    Not yet widely available.
Not the lightest tire (again...it's a DH tire so none are light)
    Weights:
Kryptotal tire alone: 1300g (DH supersoft 29x2.4")
    Maxxis Assegai: 1220g (EXO+ max terra 29x2.5")
Continental Der Kaiser (rear) with Flat Tire Defender insert (29x2.4") : 1370g

Sweet review. I know im a year late into discovering your video review of the kyrptotals Re&Fe. I saw a video of a Continental rep saying you don't have to run the Fe&Re in that order. You can run the Fe front and rear for more hardpack terrain and or you can run the Re front&back for looser terrain. I just switched from DD Maxxis (F)DHR & (R)DISSECTOR to these kryptotal Fe & Re in the Enduro soft compound. The Fe has similar treads like the dissector and the Re has similar treads like the DHR.

Nice riding and good review. My shop in Phoenix is recommending the rear for the front. They said the conti rep recommended that. They didn't believe him so they tried it both ways and now agree. I ordered the rear enduro with soft for front. We will see....
