incredible defensive battles with this one. Recently had a run (Reclamation, hard) where i had to defend a fortress i'd only had for a little over a week with a lvl 1 Terek (purchased when the enemy was at the gates) and about a week/two weeks worth of mostly unupgraded troops. had the castle + blood obelisks and glyphs of fear. AI enemy was attacking with a mixed tower/inferno crew; hero was an alchemist iirc. The army matchup was: Enemy (Piquedram? I think?) Terek several archdevils 1 hydra a few titans 2 wyverns a pack of naga queens 3 gorgons a pack of pit fiends ~12 greater basilisks lots of iron golems ~20 dragonflies lots of magi. ~30 lizard warriors a horde of familiars 30 gnolls (exactly 30, i remember). The auto-combat (HD mod) suggested i'd lose the town and kill a few magi and some golems for my trouble. ofc i didn't accept the outcome and manually made Terek do a heroic last stand to sap enemy momentum. Killed all the magi, all the pit fiends, all the archdevils, and nearly all of the iron golems; the hero went running back home immediately and i retook the town in like two turns. that two-tile moat and tough walls boost the defender's strength like nobody's business. and that +2/+3 atk/def from the obelisks/glyphs/cage makes even a throwaway hero respectable.
@@magickawizard871 Well it was pretty hard to be honest. They had to bring soil from somewhere else and dry the swamp first for it to work. Generally building a fortress on a swamp is not that common so building an entire faction around building fortresses on swamps is pretty funny.
I see the appeal, fortress’s biggest defence is their awful (for other factions) terrain. I managed to save my fortress town so many times because the enemy hero was one day late and that let me get enough troops to hold off the attack which would have otherwise been successful if they attacked earlier
i forgot how epic this theme was
From 0:42 my mind just carried away nahui
+10 квасилисков
It's sad that only the hydras survived into Heroes 4. I like to think everybody else remained behind and populated the old world with Lizard creatures
0:45 best part
I was obsessed with this town as a kid a swamp/jungle town with the best music in the game !!
As a furry lover since my childhood, I loved this town, with his gnolls and lizarmen!
Best Town theme.
Well, I prefer Stronghold and Castle ones, but this one is really good too.

I love fortress for being able to pull off such crazy defences and victories follwing that
Прекрасная музыка. Чувствует героизм и пафос данной композиции!
Хоть и живут на болоте, но чувство собственного достоинства блюдут жестко.
Do you have any special talents?
*flips bottle and immediately starts walking away*
No :(
Armour?
Cool melody!)
it seems a lot more alive at 0:11
Arghh! I woke up and was missing an arm and a leg.
Hmm. Who in their right mind would build a fortress in a swamp? :D

Well if Monty Python has taught us anything, fourth time's the charm.
