As being the fastest pianist, one would love to play any music with more keys at fine grained level. E-minor has many pitches which includes F# minor. Hence, you probably chose it, and nosed it as well!
It's so nice to see a sophisticated pianist in pop. Who plays more than just simple repeated chords. His sense of rhythm and use of the piano as a pure percussion instrument is so creative. It's great he's doing well and not resigned to playing Chopin etudes.

They are amazing to play as technical exercises (which is why they were written), but not so great to LISTEN to, especially if you are not a piano student . That goes for a lot of 'classical' music generally, let's be honest (which, incidentally, is why many classical audiences - with some exceptions - are actually BORED/ GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS!)

I absolutely love the unique themes Peter added to this song. Throughout most of the piece, some notes or even the main melody sound "off" like a mistake, like 1:12, 1:30, 1:36, and 2:57. These moments are very unexpected and contribute very well to the funky theme. The distortion loop at the end also really sells it. Stuff like that is what makes this cover so unique from all the rest.

He's got a look pedal at the end of the piano, they yellow box is a look pedal/trigger
