This interview was originally recorded in 2016 when Irrfan Khan visited The Lallantop for his film ‘Madaari’. Speaking with The Lallantop editor Saurabh Dwivedi, Irrfan talked about his life, films and beliefs. He also shared anecdotes from Tigmanshu Dhulia’s directorial debut Haasil, like he wanted to work in the film but was hesitant to ask. Being raised in Jaipur, he was also nervous about getting the Allahabadi accent right in Haasil. He also suggested young filmmakers to watch cinema of Stanley Kubrick, Jean Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut and Federico Fellini. He also reflected on the kind of impact Paan Singh Tomar had on him, and the challenges they faced to tell that story.
