It'll be, but I don't see it do anything crazy to make the original completely Obsolete. It's more like RE4R exists because of the original and adapt from it to its own respectful direction of everything from VA, Balance, Animations, etc. That's usually how Remakes go nowadays ESPECIALLY Final Fantasy 7 Remake according to Tetsuya Nomura of how so different they invented in multiple ways from its standard form.

@@SolidPython2099 because it's not setting out to replace the original. They said in one of the old Capcom confidentials that RE2 was not setting to replace the og. The only canon remake is RE1, the rest are their own thing, and honestly I love it for that, gives them creative freedom whilst they still pay homage and respect to the still canon ogs.
More horror than action is a great thing. It would guarantee the remake would surpass the original (at least to me). RE4 jumps the shark in the second half and becomes too ridiculous, directly influencing and leading to RE5 and 6: a stain on the legacy of the series. I'm confident the remake can fix a lot of the issues so we can forget the action trilogy never happened.
And how did you come to this conclusion? We already know what RE4 is like, they arent going to remake the whole game from zero. Its jsut a trailer and Im pretty sure it plays the same as the original with some twists hopefully.
Same here. Got an RE4 tattoo, The OG on Every Console & PC, VR. The Steelbook and the Chainsaw for PS2. I have an Original Re4 advert poster from 2005, I have a Leon S. Kennedy Action Figure collectible still boxed. This was one of the first ever games I've ever played it and is still my favourite to this day. I have extremely high expectations

So yeah, now that the RE4 remake is out for almost a month I can honestly say: the REmake is one of the best RE games I've ever played and it did the original more than justice! A few great and interesting changes. Some "missing" content that we might get to see in a DLC. But overall I have to say that the RE4 Remake is an amazing game!

I've been one of the fans who hadn't wanted a 4 remake but seeing this trailer gives me hope. If they do take 4 remake into a more horror direction that the original 4, I think that would be really cool. The original 4 still holds up really well and is accessible so I feel like they'll need to take it in a slightly different tone this time around. Edit: I just went to the full state of play video to see the other announcements and saw that this'll have psvr2 content. Now I'm super hyped!

Idk what's the deal with them, but for every game they've been released, there were some of them were some scenes were deleted, for example on the original Resident Evil 2 we can see the scene of Mr. X arriving to the R.P.D and for the remake I think that they were planning too that scene since on the teaser it shows like that but then, it was deleted, I think that it was the same with RE4 remake 👀👀

One thing I find myself sincerely hoping for is that they make a mini-campaign for Luis Sera, perhaps to cover his escape from the Illuminados, then going out to get the sample & the meds, and maybe even visiting his grandfather's house (the note from the village chief said his grandpa used to hunt in the area).
as a player who had never played old resident evil games, playing RE 3 remake was a good experience and RE 2 was a perfect one (meanwhile, RE 2 remake was the first game that I have played in RE series and I just loved it). I hope RE 4 will be a good one like RE 2

I don't know about that. RE4 original was a game changer at its time. Defined a whole new genre in gaming as cliché as that might sound. RE4 original is gonna be difficult to surpass in terms of the gameplay. Now for the horror aspect, yeah I think RE4 remake will do justice on that part.

looks good so far, from the screen shots i’ve seen everything seems to be in place as it should, hope it’s long and enjoyable as the Original, more horror is always a welcome, also im looking forward to the soundtrack’s being as good as the Original mainly when it comes to save room’s and iconic locations… pls don’t cut those, hope for the best cause it’s RE4 ! Edit : also, i hope it got the same gameplay and combat encounters like it’s Original, when you enter a new location that everything feels completely different and fresher than it’s previous location.
@@Rorschach1998 unfortunately that’s true when it comes to soundtrack in the RE engine, some silent is good in games like this, even the Original RE4 had silent moments but all i’m saying is that i don’t want the soundtrack be replaced to a generic one like what happened with RE2/3r, iconic location’s should have thier original soundtrack but remaked.
This looks very promising so far! I really hope they don’t cut any content unless it’s some of the island portion, QTEs, and the Salazar robot. The vast majority of the game should stay intact or be improved upon.
As much as I love this, I would've really liked to see *Resident Evil: Code Veronica* get a proper remake as one of the last games of the original RE format before the original RE4's revamp of the franchise.
I absolutely cannot wait! RE4 og brings so many good memories from my high school days. My friends and I would take turns when we had game nights. Cannot wait to do this for the remake!

Dear Capcom please don't cut content from the original game, Leon's campaign should last at least 16-18 hours (OG RE4 is a long game and this Remake should be as well). Also this Remake must keep The Mercenaries and Separate Ways extra modes.
I hope we get REmakes of 5 and 6. I think they’re the two games that sorely need it. Updated graphics with more survival horror and less action gameplay while also streamlining the story.

looks good so far, from the screen shots i’ve seen everything seems to be in place as it should, hope it’s long and enjoyable as the Original, more horror is always a welcome, also im looking forward to the soundtrack’s being as good as the Original mainly when it comes to save room’s and iconic locations… pls don’t cut those, hope for the best cause it’s RE4 !
Edit : also, i hope it got the same gameplay and combat encounters like it’s Original, when you enter a new location that everything feels completely different and fresher than it’s previous location.

@@Rorschach1998 unfortunately that’s true when it comes to soundtrack in the RE engine, some silent is good in games like this, even the Original RE4 had silent moments but all i’m saying is that i don’t want the soundtrack be replaced to a generic one like what happened with RE2/3r, iconic location’s should have thier original soundtrack but remaked.

This looks very promising so far! I really hope they don’t cut any content unless it’s some of the island portion, QTEs, and the Salazar robot. The vast majority of the game should stay intact or be improved upon.

As much as I love this, I would've really liked to see *Resident Evil: Code Veronica* get a proper remake as one of the last games of the original RE format before the original RE4's revamp of the franchise.

I actually love the RE1 remake along with RE0, but you have a better idea then this. RE1 Re-Remake would make so much more sense. I just don't think Capcom has it in themselves to come up with good ideas anymore.

the scene with mendez at 1:29 was in separate ways despite seeing it here soooo... what if they are gonna make a new dlc for ashley, and they just teased it here? hell, it's on the cover of the game as well they didn't even bothered to remove it or put something else instead, so im pretty confident that capcom is going to do something more with ashley, maybe with the release of gold edition that metacritic leaked a while back?🤔 who knows?🤷♂️

Dear Capcom please don't cut content from the original game, Leon's campaign should last at least 16-18 hours (OG RE4 is a long game and this Remake should be as well). Also this Remake must keep The Mercenaries and Separate Ways extra modes.
They should also add a Luis scenario as he rarely got much screen time. He should also be playable in Mercenaries and use his Red 9 Mauser.
I hope we get REmakes of 5 and 6. I think they’re the two games that sorely need it. Updated graphics with more survival horror and less action gameplay while also streamlining the story.
