    You didn't talk about ride comfort. Why do all Auto journalists only care about performance? It's like they get in a Lincoln Navigator and say "it doesn't grip the corners when you are canyon driving so don't buy it". I just want a highway cruiser and it's hard to find good reviews anywhere.

      Well sir, just about ANY monstrous V-8 vehicle can deliver that. It truly has been done for like what 80 years? What has not been done for 80 years is 200 HP outta 4 cylinders so I would say PERFORMANCE leads the pack by a Far Cry. Had loads of ride comfort vehicles in my day, so Performance in a small package rates highly in my book.

    I will give you a good reason why you would go for the 200T vs the 350. The 350 is not sold on numerous market. He's absent from France, not available in Germany, and not in Switzerland too. Some peoples are importing those cars from abroad, shipped through the ocean.
    The 200t stays the only car available on numerous markets. Recently, the ISF was also cancelled.
    An other reason is that a lot of countries are starting to have very tight regulations about emissions. I'm in one of those. We are paying, every year, a tax. We call that our "plate tax". It allows us the right to keep our plates on and drive on the street. Those plate taxes are calculated on the kw/h of the car and his weight. The more you have of any, and the more you will pay. The difference between the 350 and the 200t makes around 300 us dollars a year. So, in the 5-9 years you will use your car, the 200t will be considerably cheaper in those costs than the 350.

    We just acquired three weeks ago the 2016 F Sport NX 200TSUV that have that engine. It feels good!! The first Toyota with small engine Turbo 235 HP 258 pounds torque. Great vehicle in their class. We saw the Volvo Cross Country, road tested the Audi Q3 and the NX, and my wife opted for the F Sport ( its for her use). Have a lot of little details and features for a pleasant drive. Thanks for this video

    Yeah I have this car for more than 8 years now. No major issues at all. Just do your normal maintenance and is rock solid. One minor issue the windshield washer had a leak so refill was gone fast, but Lexus dealer fixed it for free.

    I love how the heated steering wheel is a "feature to avoid". When I bought my IS350F, I was thinking that was a waste of an option also. Now, I am rocking my heated steering wheel for my dainty hands when my hands are the slightest bit chilled. I too have lanky arms and in Buffalo NY, our winters are long. Soooo nice. Great vids!

    Notice through out the video that the engine cant seem to figure out if it wants the torque converter to be locked or unlocked when he's cruising in auto OR if the transmission is just shifting back and forth between gears over and over. Kinda sketch for a Lexus that costs that much money.

    Great review thanks ma man ... I really loved the new IS and test drove the IS250H which is the only one we get here in Finland. I was quite impressed with the E-CVT and did not feel that it was boring or annoying at al. The only thing that stopped me from buying the car was the tiny cabin size ! I mean, I am quite average height at around 176cm and I found the cabin so cramped sitting there that I felt like a giant. The center console has a very weird outward design that kept hitting my right knee and annoyed the hell out of me, would love to know your views on that and if you found the same issues I did. There is ONE IS200T which is imported and it is tempting me now to go and check it out and maybe give it another chance. Earlier I ended up getting a 2013 Seat Leon FR (1.8TSI 7DSG 180hp) and the last year has been a joy to drive but now it's time for a change

    After the TONS of issues my bimmer has been giving me the past 3 years, I'm really considering this ride. Bimmer cost me USD $104355 for a 320i 7 years ago. This Lexus, brand new is about $186348. Bare in mind, where I'm from, cars are only permitted on the road for 10 years. After that, its either scrap the ride or pay tax for another 10 years! Haizzz.

      Just to add about performance. I had the 2014 Is350 and a 2015 Is350 F Sport. I got smoked by Audi 3.0T's and BMW 335i's. I am in a 2016 4Runner Limited now and am going back to the IS. I'm strongly considering the 200t for the fuel economy and price. The 350 isn't worth the extra cash in Canada anyway.

      Yes, (and BMW fanboy here), German vehicles are just not worth it. Lexus has the durability of it's parent company Toyota behind it, and freakin' Yamaha made the 4 cyl. engine if I'm not mistaken (might be the turbine); Lexus has just figured out very well how to make a low cost, low-maintenance fleet. It's up to you though, if you like the Mercedes, get what you want of course!

  • @THUNDERxX45
    @THUNDERxX45 8 лет назад

    I just have a question, when driving a manual, what's the best way to stop
    1. Neutral, coast and brake
    2. In gear brake until about to stop and then switch to neutral
    3. Leave it in gear
    4. Leave it in gear and then switch to neutral
    Also if you stop say in 4th and when you are completely stopped can you just switch to 1st?

    • @TYAC_TPE_SF-Bay
      @TYAC_TPE_SF-Bay 8 лет назад

      +THUNDERxX45 You can always neutral stop from whenever, but putting it in gear will save fuel, and a little help from engine vacuum braking may help a bit on brake pads. When you put the car in neutral, engine went to idling, and an engine needs some amount of fuel to keep spinning. But if there's outside source of power to keep it spinning, the computer usually doesn't spit fuel in.
      However, some drivers recommend one can shift down all the way to second but skip first when you are going for a complete stop.

    • @FerpiliciousProducts
      @FerpiliciousProducts 8 лет назад

      If you're learning just pop it in neutral and brake accordingly. You can also downshift once you get the hang of it, some folks will tell you it's hard on your clutch but if you're rev matching you'll be fine.

      Also, just watching the video you can tell a huge difference between the sport mode shifts (a few seconds later) compared to the normal mode shifts, something that also is true in the lowly Camry that I own as well as the IS (when testing it, I pretty much kept it in Sport).

    Toyota shouldn't have made scion, God damn scion has messed up Toyota. They are still a great reliable company and they are finally starting to find their way for sport cars again but that's all cause of scion. For example before scion the mr2 had the turbo 4 and it had 225 hp if I remember correctly and those were underrated and actually made around 240, then scion comes out gives the mr2 a 1zz-fe with 180hp. And a bit before that the mr2 had a SC on it Another example would be the celica. In the past it had a turbo 4 making like 220 hp then scion comes out and the 7th gen celica had the 1zz-fe with 180hp. that was back in the 90s and late 80s now we have Lexus In 2016 putting in a 240hp turbo 4. Toyota lost a lot of its progress in sports cars when scion was made, that only makes me think of how powerful the forced induction engines would have been now. Thankfully that awful brand scion has been killed off.

      +JDM Toyota Do more research. I agree that Scion was a pointless side brand, but you are so wrong on too many fronts to be making any kind of sense.

    He said that Is350 is better then Is200T, because of similar price. Right?

    • @madgambi
      @madgambi 8 лет назад

      +Je won Moon He was saying that it's 241hp with the IS200t vs 306hp on the IS350 for a minimal difference in price. The 350 is a 3.5L V6 as well so it eliminates the need for a turbo.

    old video but debating between a 200t and 350 rwd (live in NY but WFH so no worries about driving in snow). found to 2017 similar mileage and both Fsport. price diff seems to be about 7k. what’s everyone’s opinion? worth looking at the 200t, or 350 will be much better. coming from a 2012GTI with DSG

    I liked this review overall, but do you have any comments on turbo lag? I had a 2014 IS250 F Sport and I liked it except for the fact it was not fast. I now have a 2016 IS350 F Sport and I am enjoying the extra 102 bhp over the 250. I am a sucker for the Rioja Red interior.

    Stickier tires have less tread life. It's unavoidable.

    Lexus chief stylist deserves to go down in history with the Edsel chief stylist.
    Im a former owner of the Giugiaro styled Lexus 1993 GS300... a timeless, gorgeous classic... now own a 2001 XK8 convertible.
    But Lexus now has totally hideous styling across the line. I now hate all of their cars.
