I started using Caddy a couple months ago. I was an early adopter of NginX, jumped from Apache2 httpd some 16 years ago, and have used and abused it to great effect over the years, but now I feel a switch to Caddy is imminent.
Is this the same episode from yesterday?
Yeah there were some editing issues so we replaced it!
yesterdays episode was beautifully done with the back and forth style it was more immersive. Is this a reupload?
I don't even know how to opt in to the telemetry in go. searched for it but could not find it.
I gotta say, I was really disappointed with this podcast. Specifically, at 20:45 you asked what key features of caddy you hadn't yet talked about and he said
1) public key infrastructure and
2) "the biggest one is it is a plugin ecosystem"
You then brought him on a 10+ minute tangent on ssl, encryption etc - which is stuff that is supposed to just be hidden by caddy so that we don't have to think about it while we develop plugins to actually use it... And the topic of plugins never came up again, instead talking about cloud infrastructure, marketing, sponsorship etc...
It's your podcast and you can talk about whatever you want, but you literally derailed the convo on the most important/defining aspect of Caddy
A suggestion for the future - instead of just chitchat/banter about whatever comes to mind, perhaps try to focus on what's most important and relevant about the guest and their project, both for their own sake as well as that of the viewers (who are presumably trying to learn something useful amongst the banter). I think the majority of your episodes usually do this (and I'm very grateful for them - particularly the NATS episode), so that's why this one was such a disappointment - a big missed opportunity.
For others who might want to learn about the actual details of Caddy, here's the most recent video that I can find that covers its features. Though not much about plugins. But it would have been nice to hear what the actual creator has to say about it all. ruclips.net/video/QSerOHpMjgY/видео.html
Agreed. Everyone’s time is limited and precious. It’s cool to chat and hang out but worthless diversions that take up the time we could be getting through interesting and important content are just a shame.
