Good documentary. Amazing people. I grew up in Cleveland. I never knew the stories behind the Cleveland families, businesses, and buildings. All this explanation is very eye-opening. Today, 2024, Cleveland is re-inventing itself on these foundations.
A great article that needs to be heard by everyone in America, what a lesson in giving and following Gods word and the results thereof. Thank you Barron Pilgrim.
Godliness, as far as I understand it, doesn't look like murder, massacre, extortion, etc (all well-documented--and the myriad families who lost loved ones and breadwinners either by being murdered or put out of work because he desired complete control, might find this particular form of following God's word rather "Old Testament" if you know what I mean, if it's following at all, that is. As far as I can tell, the gospel Jesus preached was not based on "earthly" wealth building, and certainly not taking other's lives in order to better your own. Hopeful we can stop lauding and praising these robber-barons & attributing their success to godliness and call it what it is: greed.
I've known since I was a kid that this probably isn't where he lived or vacationed, but i always found it cool i lived on Rockefeller Road in Willoughby Hills and went to Garfield Elementary. Garfields house is so close to our mall in Mentor that it's a daily sight for all of us. And thats pretty cool in & of itself!! I'm only 49 but every chance i get, i tell people of the history of this whole area!! It really IS QUITE FANTASTIC!! And I never stop learning new things!! It's wonderful!! I've always felt deep down as far back as i can remember that this general area (meaning all of Northeast Ohio) is special!!! That's why I'm still here!! They dont call Ohio The Heart Of It All for nothing!!! ✌️&❤ to all!!
A man to be admired. Amazing what a smart man he was as a young man his absentee daddy sure made an impact in his future . A family man devoted to his family his church. He did good to the city of Cleveland brought in jobs. Beautiful made video. Thank you I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Broke my heart when they took down the Standard Oil signs on the corner and turned the old gas station into a buy here/pay here lemon dealership. I'm not from Cleveland but I often feel like I'm the only person in town that appreciates or knows the local history at all 💔
Awesome and extraordinary information about this man's legacy and still lives on for Cleveland Ohio...... Much love to John d Rockefeller...... May he live on...
Would you endorse his use of wholesale massacre (regard Ludlow, Colorado in 1914 for one such example), extortion, price-fixing, etc, to be a good example for the world to follow? If we all followed in his footsteps, I'd venture the world would look even darker than it already is. Not a man to laud or praise, really. Even Al Capone who's said to have murdered 700 people, gave in spades to those in need. When we butcher people, literally, to gain our fortune, we should be disallowed from being called great.
Haha....are you tor real? The man is responsible for corrupting the medical system for over 100 years. He wanted his petroleum products (Pharma) to be prescribed to the entire world. Get a clue and get another hero. This dude was a mass murderer.

They are the brains behind the rise of the US at the expense of the British and German Empires.
Just like Henry Ford, the originals were the deal, not their spoiled rotten offspring. No one should inherit a fortune. Once the founder of wealth dies, all the money should go back to the public Treasury minus final expenses and a minimal stipend for readjustment for the family to a normal life like anyone else.
I lived in Strongsville Ohio my entire life, i am now 61. You just blew me away. I had NEVER heard that Rockefeller lived in our town in Whitney!?

I used to wonder why Rockefeller left Cleveland never returned! Them dang property taxes the main reason many homes are left abandoned to this day!
Yep! He was mad 😡! Ergo-New York City 🌃 got all the kudos! Read: Titan! FABULOUS book 📚!

He covered his murders and extortion by being a church man. Let's call a spade a spade.

That sign stood for murder for many a person. Sorry to burst your nostalgic sentiments.
Its ok. Anytime someone keels over from the Vaxx you can be reminded what a evil human being he was.

For all those he murdered to get where he got financially, let's hope he doesn't live on. It's a shame they didn't get to live, or live on.
