I am old enough that I remember listening to this every year growing up. We always started our holiday season by watching the movie White Christmas and then bringing out the album by Bing Crosby (featuring the Andrew Sisters). This was one of the songs that was on the album. I am in my 70s and still remember the words to this since it was part of every single Christmas season. I think they did a great job of capturing the feel of the original. The American Sirens have really captured the sound and feel of the war years and seem to specialize in that era of music. They each also have other work that they do. The blonde is married to EJ Cardona (from Voctave) who has also guest starred with VoicePlay. The two of them plus Cesar from VoicePlay make up the core of a couple of different groups that perform in the Orlando area. The other two appear in videos done by PattyCake Productions as well as others.
I suspect that what you're perceiving as a filter on the ladies' voices is a result of a combination of their particular vocal timbres and the extremely close harmonies that they are maintaining. I've heard other groups hit those moments of close harmony, and it does sound almost unreal. Again, I'm not entirely certain, but I think that creates some interesting, somewhat unreal-sounding overtones.
One of Geoff's lesser known "selfies," but this one isn't just himself. I always liked this! I haven't heard it in quite some time! Thank you for doing this!
Can you imagine what the officer manager was thinking while watching the camera footage of Geoff prancing around in the office and singing this song. Lol. Wonderful, fun song. Thanks. 😂
Fun Christmas video from 2020, Geoff's first one once he began releasing solo music videos. This one is the only with guests singing with him on his solo channel.
You are welcome for the suggestion ;-) Love the faces Geoff pulls when the Sirens first shows up and funnily enough? I have never noticed the repeating lyrics until now...
The origin of “Mele Kalikimaka” is pretty interesting. It’s not a translation into a Hawaiian language, but a transliteration of the words “Merry Christmas.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mele_Kalikimaka?wprov=sfti1#
I work in an office and I have my laptop which I plug into two additional screens so I can have several programs up and running at the same time. I get major square eyes but at least I don’t have to flick back and forth between programs/documents. My main is my laptop as I can take it with me but every desk around me (we rent the desk each time) has multiple screens. Sorry random office facts haha
That introduction, the vamp, is the one used for Mr Sandman. I think it is genius that Geoff used it as a little bit of ear candy misdirection. I do love that Andrews Sisters sound, but then I'm very old. I'm sure that they have learned to sing that 40's and 50's sound. The musical community in Orlando is very tight knit. The blonde siren is married to EJ Cardona who sings with the acapella choir Voctave. EJ has been featured in two of Voiceplay's pieces..
They have a lot of songs out there but they are not on Spotify sadly. They also do a lot of songs from the 1930’s. I have always loved the music from the Warriors so I did go seek them out. It seems to be their specialty. If you have watched any of the work of PattyCake Productions (Layne is a co-owner), you have seen the other two as well. Alejandra, on the left, plays my favorite character of the Villains Lair: Maleficent. Rachel, in the center, is in several of their productions: she plays Ursula/Vanessa in the Unexpected Musical Grande Mermaid. A portion of the story is told with songs by Ariana Grande. She also plays Vanessa in later episodes of the Villain’s Lair. In their Evolution of Ariel video, she plays Ariel as portrayed in the series Once Upon a Time. She’s also married to the guy who plays Gaston in Villain’s Lair!

Geoff always brings his humour to these productions. Love this one.

One of my Geoff favorites, and vastly undervalued I think. Another that I love is his cover of ‘Til Then’ ❤❤❤
