What is Belchatow best known for? Europe's largest coal-fired power plant and volleyball court. The most famous volleyball team in Poland, Skra, trains here. Nine-time Polish Champions and even silver and bronze World Championships. The most successful Polish volleyball team. In the sports complex Energy of the Skra's team, ordinary physical education lessons of ordinary school students take place.
The apple is the symbol of the city. So did Adam and Eve. The Aple art festival is held here every year. There are free book exchange points at the bus stops. Anyone can bring or donate their read books to others.
In general, the city pays a lot of attention to sports. It has its own stadium, its own football team. There are many sports fields and bike paths around the city. Lots of greenery and parks. The region is rainy, but even on gray and cloudy days, the city is green thanks to the conifers. There is a great variety of them here. To brighten up the gray days, the houses here are painted in bright colorful colors. Even high-rise apartment buildings.
Here is Freedom Square. It was reconstructed, and 70% of the reconstruction funds are subsidies from the European Union. Everything is good in this park. But this is the only place in the city where it is impossible to walk with strollers, as well as people with disabilities. Because the paths are lined with slabs, between which the grass grows. The most famous museum is the PGE Giants Mocy. In this interactive museum, you can learn a lot not only about the history of the city, but also about energy and minerals.
Belchatow is surrounded by forests. Therefore, sometimes you can meet forest dwellers. Once in the city we met a sarna crossing the road. My favorite city park with the Olshevski estate-museum and a lake. Permanent and year-round inhabitants of the lake and the river are ducks. Sometimes swans come, like now, and seagulls. Recently, several salt pavilions have been opened. You can improve your health for free by inhaling iodine-salty vapors.
Thanks to subsidies from the European Union, the banks of the city river Rakówka have been landscaped over the past few years. A variety of shrubs and trees are planted, comfortable paths are laid, cozy squares and sports grounds are built. By the way, here she is. Rakuvka. Its widest shores and full-flowing basin are visible from afar. But despite its size, Belchatow ducks love to swim here. Nearby is the largest coal mine in the world, so the groundwater went deep underground, which affected the size of the river.
There are a large number of churches in Belchatow. This is the oldest part of Belchatow - Groholice. Previously, it was a separate village, founded in the XII century. And here is the oldest church in Belchatow of the 13th century with its history - the Gothic Church of All Saints.
One of Belchatow's specialties is intercity communication. That is, his absence. Getting to the city by public transport is very, very difficult. There is no railway, and buses run very rarely.
But there are advantages of urban transport. Various eco-projects are being introduced here. One of them is free public transport. To reduce the number of cars on the road. Some of the buses are electric. Convenient charging is available for electric cars.
The city's new cool eco project is installing solar panels on school rooftops. Now they will be supplied with alternative energy, at the same time and children will be taught to be careful with resources.
