Jon B is a classic R&B singer of the highest order. Why his talent hasn't garnered the high level of recognition it deserves makes you wonder if merit is even a factor. Great performance by him and Donnell Jones.
I've always felt the same way. It boggles my mined when I see guys like G-Eazy garnering the attention amd respect that rightfully belonged to Jon B. At Least Drake's a real one and had him on Cameras/good ones go. That was lit.
Jon B paved the way for the Justins, Robin Thicke etc. But he was REAL. He didn't just pander to BP (both Justins) and use R&B to make money. He felt it in his soul which is why it hits some much harder.
He does get that recognition. The thing is that it’s different times and Jon b is black famous. Not white famous. Others you’ve mentioned got the attention and support of white people.
