As i know the Diesel Exhaust "Sound actuator" is NOT using the speakers inside the car but a special actuator speaker mounted at the exhaust itself. Thats why and because of the double Glass Front Windows the Diesel sounds even better from outside then from inside.
Just to make a few corrections. 1. The Bluetooth function needs no SIM card, it pairs like any other Bluetooth device. 2. There is as an option a in car WiFi unit which will allow up to three device's to connect to an 'in car' network for internet access. In the UK this does require a SIM card to be installed, as I understand it Autonet who provide the unit have a different system in the U.S that may not require a SIM. However the slot for the SIM is on the device which requires a dealer to lift the rear parcel shelf to access the slot. 3. Whilst the Diesel does have a synthesized exhaust note, this is produced outside the car within the exhaust itself, and generates a sound similar to that of a V8 engined Maserati when in Sport mode. Indeed so convincing is it, I have had people ask to record the sound never believing it's just a humble Diesel engine. Also in normal or ICE mode it's probably more refined than the petrol. Whilst for us in the UK paying GBP 6.00 odd a gallon (about USD 8.00 at current exchange rates) close on 40mpg on a long run makes a difference. Finally whilst the engine is manufactured by VM Motori who are an engine subsidiary of Maserati parent company FCA, and is based on a unit used by Chrysler, it was developed extensively with help from Ferrari and actually produces more Torque than the engine found in the Ghibli S. However given the negative press particularly in Europe, the days of newly produced diesel, or for that matter petrol are numbered. It was already announced Maserati will be going down the electric route for future cars.
I've been watching your videos and got lots of info needed for my decision to purchase one and I got the S Q4 yesterday with the 21" titano wheels. Love the Ghibli's!
I just got a 2016 Maserati Ghibli S today!!! I traded in my 2014 Ghibli S Q4, and got a Ghibli S. Same horse power and everything else. But just read wheel drive. And it sounds amazing!!!
In case you're wondering about the "Ghibli"-thing: Maserati likes to name their cars after certain winds: Mistral, Karif, Bora, Shamal and Khamsin. Its about symbolising speed and force... This model is now the third car in Maseratis history to bear the name Ghibli -a Sahara desert wind.
I traded a loaded BMW 540 I MSport for a SQ 4 Ghibli and could not be happier. I own a few Porsches and Mercedes. I love the Ghibli, it's a blast to drive. Fit and finish is as good as the BMW. So tired of all the Internet click bait BS by folks that aren't really familiar with Ghibli. Read the owner forums. I was going to purchase another Mercedes sedan but the owner forums were terrible in lamenting the new product reliability. The Ghiblis became much better after 2017 and seem to have corrected earlier issues. All I can say, is after driving lots of cars in the sport sedan segment, the Ghibli is a lot of fun and a better car than its reputation. Eric S
Yo I have a few questions. I’m fixing to get one and everyone says not to because of it braking down so much. Can I ask what problems you have ran into? What have you had to replace?
For those who buy the car for the name, Quattroporte literally means 4 doors. Great video. We have two Levante's a Quattroporte and a Ghibli sat in the workshop and I just love the look and feel of the Ghibli.
The Ghibli 60° V6 engine block is cast in Detroit, Michigan, USA and then shipped to Italy where it is assembled by Ferrari. The block is pretty much identical to the Chrysler V6 engine, unlike the 90° V6 block used in the Alfa Romeos. So while the Ghibli (and Quattroporte) V6 are assembled by Ferrari and approve of the specs, it’s very much a Chrysler engine, with some Ferrari oversight and parts on it. Much like how the BMW B58 was looked over very thoroughly by Toyota before it was approved to be in the MkV Supra.
Easy to say go for a petrol when you live in America with cheap fuel prices, here in the UK we pay nearly $7.00 a gallon! Hence why I have a Maserati Ghibli Diesel......still cool though :)
I love the name Maserati so anything that is added on to that really could not do much damage. Ghibli sounds like a name for a little bird that hops around on one leg. I really like it though and want to go check it out soon.
Question, when you say it has Bluetooth. You are talking about two different features, i hope you know. Bluetooth is a wireless feature to use hands free calling and Music Sync options or address book for your phone. In the label you put for Bluetooth before you talked about this feature, you spoke of WIFI. Wifi and Bluetooth are two different things, WIFI in a car is called HOT SPOT, and Bluetooth is just called Bluetooth. Does it have both, or am i hearing you wrong. Because that would be amazing :)
I was thinking thee exact same thing! I'm purchasing a ghilbi very soon but i never knew anything about built in wifi.. bluetooth and wifi is 2 very different things. and really do i have to do all that to sync or bluetooth my phone? I don't even have an sd card I have an iPhone!! please @RPO305 clarify thanks
Wigglejiggles The SD card slot is to play music or audio from an SD card. It’s not to hook up you phone....that would be via Bluetooth. And there’s no WiFi hotspot hosted by the car. That would require a subscription for service.
You would be amazed how many people have called me to get their keys of the trunk. That is a great feature actually. It is a rare occurrence, but when it happens, it turns into a bad day.
Several 1960's-1970's models were named after winds; Ghibli is the name of a wind in North Africa. Mistral is a cold strong dry wind in France. Khamsin is also a wind in Egypt that blows for 50 days. It is also Arabic for 50. Bora is another wind blowing from the Adriatic Sea. Shamal (a lesser known model) is a wind this one blows through Iraq. Karif is another wind from Somolia. Other Maserati models were named after race victories; Indy, Sebring, Mexico, Kyalami.
Keep it up! I Like your Videos! But please Use Something like selfglueing Velcro to mount your License Plate. it will look really nice, clean and kind like the Plate hovers in place. It will also not sound like a Garage Door when you close your trunk.

I wish people would do their homework before saying things...

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio all day long....and twice on SUNDAY !!!
The name Ghibli comes from one of the most successful cars they ever produced. It was a straight competition for ferrari daytona back in the days.
Trash the rear license plate frame and use all four screws to secure it so it doesn't rattle when you close the trunk.
Larry Smith kan kan kan
It only has 2 screw holes
not hating at all but the 2010 and up Nissan Altima also wont let you lock the key fob in the trunk.
Nissan's with SmartKey has that trunk option
Thanks for the info! I just bought a 2018 so I’m excited to get acquainted with it!

Hi Atlantik av, I am thinking of buying a used Ghibli diesel and I am in the UK. Do you recommend them four years on? My other option is a 640d.
It's Ghibli because of Maserati's tradition of naming their vehicles after a wind it's not the only wind named vehicle in Maseratis history
I really live your maserati ghibli it's so heaven wonderful
love
Bro, I have a blue sq4, and that white is BEAUTIFUL!!
Maybe it's because of the brake dust that's so ever present 😂😂
I love the name Maserati so anything that is added on to that really could not do much damage. Ghibli sounds like a name for a little bird that hops around on one leg. I really like it though and want to go check it out soon.
the engine is built using Chrysler parts
how much are they
2005 to 2015 Acura RL has that with the trunk

you forgot one thing that leak oil.....

#4 makes no sense at all. Built in WiFi from a SD slot? The fuq?
Is that license plate "In Debt" cause if so. You are in debt with that thing
One thing I do know is that it’s my dream car. How’s the reliability
As with most exotics it's pretty poor, unfortunately.
My bmw has the same thing with key in car or trunk

Maserati makes diesels??? Never heard
