She simply stated a scientific fact, followed up with several clarifications of how she fully respects that certain people choose to ignore this scientific fact. Like this or not, that is your personal matter. Criticisms on a person for expressing a fact based opinion is plain irrational. Going against their creation, is even more irrational. But attacking others for enjoying that creation, while not making any mention at all to the author, I'm afraid that is plain stupidity.
You can't really do "death of the author" that easily when the author is very much alive, kicking and using their platform to support the problematic views they're known for. Someone like Lovecraft? Dead. Deader than dead. His unspeakable bones lying within the indescribeable depths. JKR? Not just alive, but also politically active. Very much so. The thing that's very easy to do though? Claim that you are supporting "scientific facts" without taking in any context surrounding the conversations in which these may be uttered. Sorta like, y'know? Crime statistics? Haven't had a "hard fact" misrepresented in order to push an essentialist narrative before, have we?
The tendency in culture towards villification of things due to past controversies is a zero sum thinking mindset. Offence is subjective, anything can be offensive to someone, if your goal is to destroy something every time someone perceives offence then eventually you will end up with nothing left, including the things that you yourself had no issue with. Rather than destroy why not just be contempt with the fact that something was created and carry on with your life. It seems to be a part of the human condition that we want to destroy things just as much as we want to create them when it needn't be so. Whether it be a person, an idea or an object these things will eventually expire without the need for your intervention, nothing can escape the steady unwavering marching of entropy whether we like it or not. So, just take a deep breath, relax, and try to enjoy the things in life that make you happy.
