The best implementation of AI piloting in DCS, yet. Straight forward and completely omits the "modes" concept of George AI. I mean, I know, what the intent is to have cruise, combat and hover modes, but in a situation, where you simply need a co pilot to "make it work" this direct control over altitude, speed, direction and just "take controls and hover here!" is incredible.😍
Thank you for all of your hard work. You don't need to do this for anyone, but you choose to, and it's greatly appreciated. DCS tutorials are severely lacking so getting to learn from pilots who actually flew in the aircraft is pretty special. First with you and the Apache, then Notso with the F-15E, Mover and Gonky with the F/A-18/F-16, now back to you with the Kiowa. Thanks again.
I love the "Whoop Ass switch," and that's a pretty slick approach to playing a dual seat aircraft. Also, very nice job of demonstrating and walking is through it!

It seems like makes sense to think of it as a kind of conveniently featured auto pilot rather than an AI co-pilot. Since it's primarily going to used that way (i.e. only when you need to go heads down or have it fly a fixed heading and alt).
A thing to remember for those people who always complain about delays, is that PolyChop initially didn't plan on having this AI copilot available (I had Sven in my FB friends list for a while and we talked a few times about the module and what they wanted to do with it). I am very happy they decided to have it available for EA despite their initial plans 🙂 Developing this system takes time of course so that's part of the reason behind the OH58 taking longer than anticipated. Well done, PolyChop! 👍
Looks impresive! Maybe they should also add (if not already there in) ability to point on the ground where you want the helicopter to go and stop in a hover with a specified heading... maybe the AI can decide what turns/path it will do to achieve that. Also the interface should be maybe made in different sizes so people that prefer a minimalist one could have it so. Other than that... I am pleasantly impressed :)
your youtube neighbor... the german dude who also does Kiowa tutorials in german; has been using voice attack to just use his voice to command the AI. He's giving actual heading commands and the AI will make the helicopter turn that way (e.g. Turn 050)... Now I'm wondering what's the keybind equivalent to that. Cuz I did not see one when I paused the video on the keybinds page.
how do you map the MMS on the pilot side like you said in 1:00 mark. i don't see any MMS key binds for pilot. And mapping them on the copilot doesn't seems to work for pilot... unless im missing something, thanks
Would be nice if the stick position was trimmed prior to human take over of the controls (and ideally the peddles too if trimmed peddles on this aircraft are realistic). That should then eliminate the sudden jerkyness of the take over. I remember in a previous video you mentioned that in real operations, on take off, the trim was normally disabled (cyclic is a "wet noodle"). Assuming this wasn't enabled in your video in normal flight, perhaps it was enabled perhaps it would perform the trim action prior to take over? Anyways, thanks for the flight tips all the same, appreciated. 👍
"PilotMi8" from the ED forum posted a while ago about what he wanted to add to the M-8 module in terms of copilot capability, but sadly ED has a lot of other things to worry about too so it might be a while before we see that in action...
Great tutorial, you make really good tutorials. I am on the fence about getting this module. This is only for Enigma and Contention servers. I only care for PVP. For choppers, I know how to fly Gazelle, KA50 and Hind. My issue with the Kiowa is that there is only Pilot AI. I want to play as a pilot, I don't want to switch seats and map, remember and use 11 buttons for Pilot AI to launch hellfires. I love how the AI works in the Hind, 5 buttons and Petroviich finds targets , let's me -the pilot choose what to lock and fire upon, leaving me ,the pilot to do 1 job, which is to fly. KA50 is meant to be flown by 1 pilot, so that's that. I think that Polychop needs to implement Petroviich or George like AI. I have not flown or researched Heatblur's modules, so I can't comment on their AI.
ive got an extensive amount of inputs. can i , as the pilot, slave alot of the co-pilot controls and use them while seated in the pilots seat? or do i need to change seat to use some of them? i noticed you used the MMS from the pilot seat, but you had to set it up from the copilot seat. thanks in advance
@@CasmoTV Like anything DCS related it can seem daunting at first but it's not really. You basically have a pre-created profile loaded in the app or create your own custom one. Voice attack runs in the background while DCS is running. Within the app options you assign a Hotas button for PTT which makes voice attack listen for the verbal command. When you open up the profile in the app editor you see the voice command on the left with the action (key strokes) on the right). Just double click an action to assign the necessary key combos.
It’s going to be nice for those not use to going helos. But a great tool when solo. Question is does it let you switch seats in multiplayer since many modules do not. I’m sure there is a few mission editor option to restrict mp and ai as well. Keepem coming.

I disagree, you need way too many buttons mapped with this solution (11 just with the examples given in this demo), the AH64 only needs 5 for it's AI. Maybe voice attack would make this more practical but I for sure don't have 11+ buttons I can map on my joy/throttle just for this.
