    The best implementation of AI piloting in DCS, yet. Straight forward and completely omits the "modes" concept of George AI. I mean, I know, what the intent is to have cruise, combat and hover modes, but in a situation, where you simply need a co pilot to "make it work" this direct control over altitude, speed, direction and just "take controls and hover here!" is incredible.😍

    Thank you for all of your hard work. You don't need to do this for anyone, but you choose to, and it's greatly appreciated. DCS tutorials are severely lacking so getting to learn from pilots who actually flew in the aircraft is pretty special. First with you and the Apache, then Notso with the F-15E, Mover and Gonky with the F/A-18/F-16, now back to you with the Kiowa. Thanks again.

    A thing to remember for those people who always complain about delays, is that PolyChop initially didn't plan on having this AI copilot available (I had Sven in my FB friends list for a while and we talked a few times about the module and what they wanted to do with it). I am very happy they decided to have it available for EA despite their initial plans 🙂
    Developing this system takes time of course so that's part of the reason behind the OH58 taking longer than anticipated.
    Well done, PolyChop! 👍

  • @zaelu

    Looks impresive! Maybe they should also add (if not already there in) ability to point on the ground where you want the helicopter to go and stop in a hover with a specified heading... maybe the AI can decide what turns/path it will do to achieve that. Also the interface should be maybe made in different sizes so people that prefer a minimalist one could have it so.
    Other than that... I am pleasantly impressed :)

    your youtube neighbor... the german dude who also does Kiowa tutorials in german; has been using voice attack to just use his voice to command the AI. Would be nice if the stick position was trimmed prior to human take over of the controls (and ideally the peddles too if trimmed peddles on this aircraft are realistic). That should then eliminate the sudden jerkyness of the take over. I remember in a previous video you mentioned that in real operations, on take off, the trim was normally disabled (cyclic is a "wet noodle"). Assuming this wasn't enabled in your video in normal flight, perhaps it was enabled perhaps it would perform the trim action prior to take over? Anyways, thanks for the flight tips all the same, appreciated. 👍

    Great tutorial, you make really good tutorials. I am on the fence about getting this module. This is only for Enigma and Contention servers. I only care for PVP. For choppers, I know how to fly Gazelle, KA50 and Hind. My issue with the Kiowa is that there is only Pilot AI. I want to play as a pilot, I don't want to switch seats and map, remember and use 11 buttons for Pilot AI to launch hellfires. I love how the AI works in the Hind, 5 buttons and Petroviich finds targets , let's me -the pilot choose what to lock and fire upon, leaving me ,the pilot to do 1 job, which is to fly. KA50 is meant to be flown by 1 pilot, so that's that. I think that Polychop needs to implement Petroviich or George like AI. I have not flown or researched Heatblur's modules, so I can't comment on their AI.

      @@CasmoTV Like anything DCS related it can seem daunting at first but it's not really. You basically have a pre-created profile loaded in the app or create your own custom one. Voice attack runs in the background while DCS is running. Within the app options you assign a Hotas button for PTT which makes voice attack listen for the verbal command. When you open up the profile in the app editor you see the voice command on the left with the action (key strokes) on the right). Just double click an action to assign the necessary key combos.

      @@CasmoTV you are currently using it. It's not an autohover , it's a simulation of a human crew member, that's what AI is all about. You know perfectly well that a helicopter cannot hover perfectly, especially without ground effect, there is absolutely always some drift, be it due to winds, weight, or even the use of weapons. As I say, I have nothing against using AI functions, but at least it shouldn't be War Thunder or some arcade game. Some movement is advisable, it's not a train on rails. All it takes is some wobbling like with George AI and it will be great. I hope they will add it.

      It's an accessibility system for solo pilots. Will it get improved over time, probably. But I suggest if you want ultimate realism you multicrew with a friend, not use AI to begin with. The system looks like it does it's job just fine for the most part, especially for initial release. A big question I had on the Kiowa was how viable it would be to solo with, this video cleared that question up nicely.

    • @CowArt554
      @CowArt554 7 месяцев назад +4

      I have seen this complaint multiple times now and I honestly don't get it. Why do you even care if the "AI" pilot flies a bit on rails? If you want a realistic flight feeling take the controls and fly the damn thing yourself. The "AI" copilot is mostly there to take over for you while you are heads down in the cockpit. In this situation you won't notice the flight dynamics anyway. It's an absolute non-issue for me, as long as the "AI" will be reliable enough to not put me into VRS every chance it gets.

  • @Chef_PC
    @Chef_PC 7 месяцев назад

    I hate that its basically MSFS SLEW mode and looks like it's on rails. They totally need to add in some variability to make it more realistic.

  • @SMH-wp9jn
    @SMH-wp9jn 7 месяцев назад +2

    This nonsense has no business being in our realism simulator. Not only do I not want to fly it, I never even want to SEE it as it's immersion-destroying. (Kind of like the Gazelle when it still had it's original UFO flight model. It's not quite the abomination it used to be now, at least not from external view, but it still flies nothing like a helicopter. Even the OH-6A mod is better!)
    And you're lying (yet again). NO other module resorts to a different, super-fake-looking flight model when you switch it to AI pilot. The AI has to fly the same flight model that you do. But these jokers at Polyslop are clearly too incompetent to code that!
