dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you are stoned like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend for the last months =)
i was able to purchase this exact same guitar for $750, and after a yr of playing regularly, I really like it...playability, sound and quality. agree with locking tuners....have to tune more than my Taylor acoustic after replacing the strings thank you Marky for the review.....didn't see it prior to purchasing. so informative
I have the identical guitar that I received for my 34th Anniversary from my beautiful wife. I absolutely love it, not only is it gorgeous but the tone and playability is exceptional. The only upgrade I made was the PRS SE locking tuners which fixed the tuning issues that you always get with tremolo bridges. I also set the action lower as that is my personal taste but I’ve done that with every guitar I’ve owned like Fender, Taylor, Ibanez etc. It played better out of the box then my $2200.00 Fender American Professional Strat. For those who we fortunate enough to purchase one you have made a great purchase. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Got mine in yesterday. I have three other electrics that are more expensive - this one sounds better than all of them. I had pretty high expectations - especially for an SE, they've been exceeded.
I got one of these a few months ago and I really love it. I did have an issue with tuning stability but it seems to be the nut and not the tuners. The nut is cut very deep and I find that the strings (9-46) stick in the nut (even with no tension on them). My quick fix was to apply some D'Addario friction remover, this resulted in an immediate large improvement. I do think I will (very carefully) sand the nut grooves to ever so slightly widen them. Overall I think this is the best guitar I've ever owned, yes even over some American made guitars. The coil tap system is the best I've ever played, I love both the single coil and humbucker tones...there is not a single "bad" setting to be found, I even like the tone control...on every other guitar I've ever owned I have the tone set to max...always...this one is actually usable throughout the dial.
I got this guitar as a Christmas present - wonderful. However, out of the box it could not be played well. I invested in a new PRS bridge, locking PRS tuners and had it all set up by a professional guitar builder, now I can work with it. Note to PRS: mybe you ask a few bucks more and then make an instrument which can be used direct out of the box? As example: I bought several years ago an American Tele, I took it out of the guitar case and it was perfect! That is the difference, right? Cheap not always good!
I am considering this guitar.I mainly play acoustic and Jane the PRS ANGELUS 60E and love it. I hear lots about the Telle and the Humbucker and wanted to ask if this guitar can pull off similar sounds. Thanks 👍
I've the same model and I totally share your opinion. Mine also had an issue with no sound in the bridge position after a week of playing. Cleaning the switch with a dedicated contact cleaner spray fixed the problem, but I was a bit disappointed with the quality of such limited edition. Locking tuners will be my next step, as the tremolo is useless with the current ones.
Check the nut, jI have a 30th anniversary SE and a Santana. In the Santana the nut needs to be filed a little bit on the 3rd and. 2nd strings. On the 30th it's perfect.
I was trying to decide between this and an Ibanez AZ premium. I ended up ordering the prs yesterday and thanks to you I feel very confident I made a good choice. Can't wait for it to arrive. 😁 Thanks for a great guitar review!
Great review man, one of the best! thanks : ) what I really like in your review: 1 - direct sound - like most of us probably will do (I record only with my HX Stomp), and inside a mix, not just alone. 2 - full relevant review . 3 - not just dry sound. 4 - I can see how the guitar looks in a video. Some note that I'll like to - more explanations about your grade method (does B is good or bad?), if you can write in which pickup do you use in the opening song, and in your finale thought (and in general) to compare it also to same price range guitars 🙂 Thanks again! Great review 🎸
I have this guitar and I adore it. The total variations from one guitar are just amazing. I need a strap like yours with the blue birds 🐦 such a nice pair. Aside: my SE was made in Indonesia 🇮🇩 which is fine by me. The Van Halen brothers are half Indonesian on their mother's side. :)
I've found, it's a rare guitar to be real smooth like that. It seems the minority likes that as well so I guess there isn't a motivation to build them that way as much.
@@MusicWithMarky you are correct , sir . I've found that my Ibanez RG570's & RG550's give me that feeling the best !! My Jackson Soloist is a close second !! 😜
Good review. About locking tuners: on my relatively cheap PRS SE standard 24 I replaced stock tuners with PRS SE locking tuners and since then this thing stays in tune beautifully. The original tuners weren't bad but I am super lazy when it comes to changing strings, so locking tuners are godsend.
@@MusicWithMarky awesome. Thank you! I have an old se I put locking tuners on. Easy switch. The nut and saddles seem to be okay? I replaced my old ones due to tuning instability.
@@MusicWithMarky I'll definitely keep.it in mind then. Especially since I already have them on hand. Thank you for the reply. Looking forward to getting mine in.
I have the Red SE Paul's, very similar but without trem. Build is great and it so... beautiful. But I'm interested in trying a couple of different humbucker in it to see the difference. Haven't decided what brand yet. Would appreciate any input.
I would say that of all the pickups I have tried that Lace and Bare Knuckle are consistently my favorites. From there it's a matter of choosing what fits your style from within the brand's product line.
Outstanding review. Your playing covers a wider range of strings and fretboard than many, letting viewers get a sense of the full character of the guitar. Have you had a chance to get hands on the similar SE 24-08 and if so, do you have any observations or comparisons?
Thank you for the great review Warren! Very to the point and usefull! I'm considering buying one, but the tuning stability of the stock guitar, (with liberal use of the whammy bar) makes me hesitate. Did you replace the tuners with locking tuners yourself? (And will the tuning stability problem be solved then?) Use of the whammy bar is part of my playing, so I would also like to know if there is a 'fixed point' between lowering the pitch, and raising the pitch a bit (if that is possible at all with this guitar). I know it's not a floyd rose system (I don't do dive bombs) but I would like to know if there is that 'nasty click' between lowering and raising the pitch a bit because of that fixed point, and if using the whammy bar is noisy, too tight or unstable (or something like that)
The locking tuners make it completely stable. The whammy on it is more like say a strat where you can't come up in pitch a great deal. I'm not sure what you mean by the click. I've not experienced that before.
@@MusicWithMarky Thank you, I understand. Just got this guitar as a gift, it is wonderful. However I somehow do not like the nut, is it simple plastic? I thought about a Tusk, however I feel that bone may even sound better?
@@MusicWithMarky Thanks, I need to check the specs of that guitar. Plastic in my opinion is not good. Tusk maybe good if you use the trem a lot. I will check. Best wishes to all of you!
Hello and thanks for the review! I have a Fender American Standard but I intend to buy this guitar. Can you tell me, please, what kind of string scale it has? Thanks and good music. Luca, Italy.
I had an issue with the nut being very tight, I detuned a string and slipped it through the nut until it slide through better. retuned next.. now it returns to tune much better.
You can set them up any way you want. They can work with these toggles or you can reassign them to do different things. I've had my techs do even swaps in guitars and also completely change functions. It's all how they wire it.

A PRS would be my first choice to shred on because they are so easy to play. When I have to do the most difficult songs, I reach for my 87 PRS custom. As for tone/sound...
