  • This is the championship race of the Boys 800 Meter Run at the 2021 CIF Southern Section (ss) Division 3 (D3) Track and Field Finals, held on June 12 at Estancia High (Costa Mesa, CA). With no CIF State Meet, CIF-SS Finals is the culmination of the official 2021 COVID-shortened CIF high school season for these athletes.

    Horrible announcing. You never say someone is going to pass and win then say no he won't when it hasn't happened.

      That was a bit much I agree. Usually he is pretty solid.

      @@isaacdienstag8192 I think it's really innappropriate for the announcer to say " 'so-and-so' is going to pass him - no he won't - yes he will!"
      As a runner in either position, if you're hearing it and this is loud, that just f@#$s with your head. It's not cool. Announcers should not be calling the outcome of a race if the outcome is not certain. It's not fair to the competitors and it's not fair to the audience.
      What the announcer should say would go something like this:
      "We've got a race here to the end. So-and-so is closing on the leader and . . . (At the finish) so-and-so wins!"
