i think with some optimization updates this can one of the best looking survival games
They will make a lot of updates its still on eary acces so we just have to wait

You do realize "optimizing" the game to get higher framerates is because they reduce the graphics right? So this current version will probably be the best looking for a while. They will 100% reduce the graphics over time to make sure more people can play it.
This is what they did in Fortnite too. UE5 launch day had extremely impressive graphics with zero popins. You could look so far away and still see grass on the ground, which you can't do anymore.

yeah it absolutely sucks when they make it look worst, like that is not "optimizations" but i do agree there is room especially on amd drivers where they need to optimize, some texture are buggy and glichy, i have the 6900xt but yeah i hope at least they keep the epic preset as good looking as it is now so at least we have the option to push it to the max if we wish to, but it shouldnt get too much worse afterall even on low it looks really great.@@TheJonazas

Okay, I understand that it's UE5, they polished it a bit and everything, but for those who have the previous ARK with all the DLC, they really could have given a 50% discount at least. If it wasn't enough to buy it for 40 euros, it is released again in early access, and in a pretty crappy state. :/
This game looks good for sure, but the performance is very mediocre for a game running on a 4090 @ 4K DLSS Quality aka 1440p & Frame Generation... Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 both use Path Tracing and get better performance... 🙄
UE5 really needs a huge performance improvement!
This is absolutely fucking hillarious, I'm on the same boat, 4090, 13900k 64gb ddr5 running fast as can be- still getting only 60 fps when maxed out.
It's a sad day when the worlds best GPU gets defeated by unoptimized trash.
Pathetic developers, relying on AI frame generation and DLSS to get a playable frame-rate is so minimal of what the performance should be. Devs are going to be lazy with their optimization.

Honestly it felt fine to me. Maybe because Ark Survival Evolved performance has been bad for so long, it just felt normal to me.

u probably dont know how game development work, i think they have dont pretty good optimization but it still needs more, the amount of high quality asset and path tracing like lighting is pretty heavy

@@vith4553 Look how this game looks, Nanite + Lumen, there are billions of triangles in a scene, its just heavy. I don't think it will work better on RTX4090, it will on 7090 in native 4k 6 years from now lol.
People continue to overhype the 4090. Yes it is powerful compared to previous generations in older games but it has always been mostly a 1440p 30-60fps gpu in new UE5 titles at maximum settings.
@@HasoonyOfRiviaWe're talking about a 4090 OC + 13900K OC + PCIe 4.0 SSD... And nowadays DirectStorage 1.2 is available too... so there shouldn't be any performance nor asset streaming issues!
Also Cyberpunk 2077 & Alan Wake 2 both run better than this game even with Max settings & Path Tracing... Come on! 🙄
I just went to your ark survival evolved video with 4090 and i must say that the performance in this game isnt that bad with all the visual upgrades, as you got similar fps in that game too.
the global illumination settings does a lot of the frame eating as well as making the game look good i got a rx6900xt at 1440p now after the first optimization i can play on high with clouds disabled and get 45-70fps

The problem is that UE5 is not barebones, so the devs have to muck about optimising shii they don't need, and yes this game has raytracing throughout, use command to browse through all the things they have
Dlss on Quality mode is made for 1080p resolution, for 4K you need set this option in "Performance".
That's not true lol. You simply adjust it till your frames vs visuals are acceptable. Sure, balanced on 4k looks better than balanced on 1080, but you can get good frame gains from quality on 4k
@@roundeyeudie The data I mentioned are Nvidia's words; the company created the different "modes" of DLSS to specifically function at one resolution or another. The "performance" mode is designated for 4K resolution. If you choose to use another parameter, it is at your own risk. Therefore, it is an entirely subjective data point that is not taken into account when discussing what is ideal or not.
@@Kendall855 interesting. First I’m hearing about this. In that case, what about the balanced preset? On some games you have balanced, which is a DLSS preset between quality and performance. Would this be best for 1440p?
@@kaiba226 That's right, although DLSS in "balanced" mode is acceptable at 1080p, it's really designed for 1440p, which is how NVIDIA mentions and sells it.
Remember that DLSS, as an image reconstructor, takes an initial frame at a lower resolution than the target resolution, which is produced by the rasterization section, enlarges it and identifies, with the help of the artificial intelligence section, what elements are being displayed in the scene, in order to place the missing pixels to make the image sharper, generating an effect similar to Antialiasing.
This means that the final image quality will depend on how much information the initial reduced image is able to provide. If you set DLSS to "Quality" mode at 1080p, you will be reconstructing from something close to 720p, which is acceptable, but in "performance" or "ultra performance" mode, you will be reconstructing from something close to 240p, an image that has too little information to be faithful to 1080p when reconstructed.
The same happens with higher resolutions, although to a lesser extent, since if you play in 4K and set the "performance" mode, you would be reconstructing close to 1440p, which is a very acceptable image and full of information for the AI, but with a much greater impact on performance. If you play in 4K and reconstruct from the "quality" mode, then you will be taking an initial resolution very similar to 4K, so the impact on rasterization will be extremely similar, gaining very little performance.
Nvidia's recommendation is:
DLSS Quality: 1080p
DLSS Balanced: Acceptable at 1080p, but ideal for 1440p
DLSS Performance: Acceptable at 1440p, but ideal for 4K
DLSS Ultra Performance: Designed for 8K, but 4K takes advantage of it very well.
The developer focus so much on higher level of graphic that they forgot the natural interaction with the environment

Dude this is what the devs should have shown us , like what are they so scared of when it looks this good on the 4090. This video creates mad hype 100% I'm going to watch your whole let's play and I think I'm going to finally upgrade the gaming pc for when scorched earth drops! Thank you for this video this is how people need to see ASA. And as new gpus come out more and more people will get to experience this new ark in all its glory. The ps5 pro is rumored to be equal to a rtx4070 so when that drops maybe next holiday season this beautiful version of the game will be playable to more and more people! So stoked! This is just the start so much good to come!
Despite, configuring brightness/HDR I still feel my ark is rather 'harsh' looking forests look really dark, brightness in day looks really bright. I have done nothing with nvidia/monitor settings as its fine for all other games :/ not sure what to do
While the GFX look really detailed and the lighting is impressive, i don't like how the ARK games look in general, the whole color palette just doesn't appeal to me.
I mean it looks visually very good. But man the price is that of a new game. All the while they're working on ARK 2.

4090 13900k all epic, dlss on, frame gen w quality and I’m only getting 45 fps on 1400p. Confused on how you’re getting 60 in 4k. Any idea why?

Thanks for the video. I also want to share that nitrado is prevent people like me. That have a server built for my friends to enjoy the game at no charge. I cant do that now unless I pay them for something that is free. Yes this game crashes a lot. Little things like tabbing out of the game can lead to an instant crash, so I wouldn't worry. The game is still in early access.
I dont know why everyone saying it looks good, For me its like a 2010 game. Sons of the forest is far better than this
