Waylon was talking about the fact that Kris would use the highwaymen shows as a way to rouse activism on topics he felt strongly about. Waylon didn’t look at the shows in that way and they almost got into punch outs over it apparently. Despite all that, Waylon seems to still have a deep respect for Kris. Those guys were all brothers on stage, so that meant fighting sometimes. I read that Waylon and Johnny used to fight/not speak to each other in the highwaymen too. Or Willie would have an extra song and people wouldn’t like that. Ego. They got through it pretty well I think
@@wiltedjourneysKris was anti-war essentially. Probably from his experience with Vietnam vets and Waylon probably did not agree with his Democratic views.
@@easyenetwork2023 Yup. But to be fair, political disagreements or not, getting on stage with a bunch of other guys, and going on your own personal tangent, while you are on stage representing a GROUP, is pretty tactless IMO. It puts everyone on stage in an awkward situation, whether they agree or not. I wouldn't have wanted to see Waylon backstage after one of those gigs for sure
Good ole Waylon
