There is a little error in this video. In the minute 00:50 it is shown a WW1 poster about the german ocuppation while the woman talks about racial stereotypes about black people. I know she doesn´t says it explicitly, but it could be unsderstand that this first image is reffering to black people and not germans.
Black men and women are not angry and dangerous . We have restraint and we live it . We also have feelings like every other human , man and woman . Every basket has bad rotten apples , but I'm ripe and fresh .
You defined stereotypes reasonably well but they can be good too. Often stereotypes have some truth to them and they act as a quick first reaction. Often they act to protect us. If you see someone who looks dangerous, they fit a stereotype of someone who could be dangerous, you approach with caution. If you see someone who is of a different culture you use the stereotype to respond to them in a way that references their cultural needs. (ex. In Asian culture passing items with two hands is seen as polite, not doing this is seen as rude.) So you made a false stereotype about stereotypes to suggest they are harmful.
@Melina Martinez I was referring to Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures. Yes, obviously Asians are not all the same. Just like white people aren't all the same. There is nothing "harmful" about saying Asian culture though. The only people who get offended are those who aren't Asian. I lived many years in various parts of Asia and I never saw the level of sensitivity that you show on their behalf. Instead of being triggered by the slightest perceived offence focus on the intend of my words.
