Yours are videos to savor, not to skim through. You have a wonderful way of capturing both the aura of the region and its small, idiosyncratic details. I'm so glad I watched until the end and was rewarded with a view of the beautiful new gates!
Hi Marloes, have you ever thought about a wood chipper? Then you don't have to drive up and down every time and you do your garden a favor with the mulch layer between your plants.
Yes we have one! But this was so much and we need to clear part of our property for when they’re making the parking so we just took this to the green dump now.
The blooms in the earthenware vase looked so beautiful! Your cat is always busy doing something, adorable kitty! This video was so totally relaxing....I could feel my blood pressure going down...thanks!
Suggestion- lay a tarp down (like the one covering your firewood) and throw your cuttings and yard debris on the tarp. Next, fold over the sides of the tarp so you don't get poked or scratched by the cuttings and then you can drag the tarp into your van and then drag it off at the landfill. I learned this trick while working with a landscape company one summer. It saves your back and your time. The new gates are beautiful.
Such a lovely video. A helping hand makes the clean up outside much more pleasant and quick. I just love the blossoms of Spring. The mid-evil village is so charming. We could never build anything so grand today. Love the old stone buildings. To have this enchanting scenery around you is such a gift. The village reeks of history. So enchanting. What a lovely restaurant / cafe. The food looks ever so delicious. What an added pleasure. A cinema room. The roads are never busy which adds to the peace and calm of the country. One item I really like in that second hand shop is the stoneware Lavender Pot with the little mallet/spoon hanging on the side of it. It has a large cork in the top of it. I just love, love love lavender. I grew up with English lavender and I love the smell also of French Lavender. I make lavender wands to hang in my closets and place in the linens. Another trick I do is hang the wands from the bed posts. I do this also with eucalyptus. The bedrooms always smell delightful. So many beautiful items to purchase in that quaint shop. It is so well organized. The wrought iron scroll work and gates are gorgeous. Oh my, your new gates are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for taking your fans along with you on this fabulous adventure.
So much work for you, but the end result will be so worth every bit of it. The architecture in Arnay-le-duc and Nolay is just beautiful! So much history. So charming. Beautiful vineyards. Pretty new gate. Thank you for sharing such lovely places with us side chair travelers.
Yes it is so sweet! It's been there for a few months now and I am always surprised it keeps sitting there and doesn't run away until I get really close!
I understand very little Dutch because of my limited German, several stays in the Netherlands years ago and hearing friends from Dutch Embassies around the world … but when I hear a GOOD Dutch with a NICE ACCENT, I enjoy it a lot … when we lived in Köln, also years ago, I was listening to the news on Dutch TV, just for pleasure … all that to say that it is a pleasure to listen to you …
Always such beautiful, peaceful videos. The countryside and charming villages with all the interesting history. How nice to be able to have dinner and see a movie all in the same place. A great idea. I so love your still shots of the night sky . It’s so rewarding to get the garden cleaned isn’t it? The gates are really pretty. Thank you for taking us shopping I did love the little plates you looked at with the blue rim and the little red flower in the center. When I see a special plate in the thrift store here I will get it and save for when I bring something special I bake to a friend and the plate is part of the gift. This was so nice thank you.
Love your new gate and that won't rot. Love your brocante trips as usual, Could feel myself twitch, wanting to be in there also touching and looking🤭 Beautiful villages and architecture
Living in Sweden and it's been snowing here almost every day in my region this week. And I have the flu... It's so uplifting to watch this Spring video. Beautiful ⚘️💗🤗
Another beautiful, relaxing, and very enjoyable video. My wife says that you have a real eye for photography--lots of gorgeous shots beautifully edited. A feast for the eyes. Can't wait to se the gate up!
Just come across you and I totally understand the clean up I have been doing the same around my place lots of work but rewarding in the end as it looks so tidy now!! ❤ Grace 🇨🇦
get a bucket or a strong spray bottle and put vinegar, dish detergent or hand soap, add a lot of salt. pour it over the weeds in your gravel area on sunny day and the next day you will find them wilted and dead. with a spray you have to go over the weeds a few times. with the pouring from the bucket, the weeds die faster. the more the salt in the solution the better. loooove these videos. can't wait to get to southern france
Thank you! Others have given the same advice. Some however have said it ruins the ph of the soil which then harms insects or nearby plants. What’s your experience with that? Thanks again
Hello from Wisconsin! Thank you for another wonderful video of Burgundy. Here we are breaking toward spring...daffodils have broken ground, snow is almost melted, birds are out and buds are forming on trees. I love the sound of chain saws...it signifies time to spruce up for the new season. Enjoy!
Love the video, especially thrifting. My goodness the copper wares were amazing. Love copper especially French. Got a great start on yard work. Be blessed
Hi Great video, have you thought about getting a trailer? A Remorque. It is so much easier to collect garden waste and transport it to the tip. Building materials too. 500 kg trailer doesn’t need any insurance or registration. Don’t be tempted to get a bigger one because there are rules about bigger trailers. You may also know about the flower market at chateau de la ferte near Buxy on the 16th April. Well worth a visit for plants and garden interest. Great videos, I have enjoyed each one.😊
One thing I notice with all the videos from Europe is the lack of telephone poles and wires. It's gorgeous that way! Is everything underground? America is covered in wires, ugh! What a beautiful gate!
In France, compared to the Netherlands where I’m from, a lot is NOT underground! So it’s interesting to hear your perspective. I think I mostly film in pretty remote areas which I why you don’t see a lot of wires but in the Netherlands there are hardly any and it’s such a difference!
Such beautiful villages around you ..I wouldn’t get any work done 😂 That’s my favourite emmaus so far, colour coordinated and the gates are beautiful too.
Love your videos, your garden is beautiful, I get weeds on my patio, but can't vend down to get them, and have cat's, so when I see one, just a pinch of sea salt, and an apology for doing it😅, when it dies back, I just sweep it up, only way to keep on top of them. Safe for the cat also. Thanks for the lovely trips I take with you. Next year YAY! I will book my trip and come rent out your B&B😊
The small countryroads are narrow indeed but we always manage when a car or tractor is coming in the opposite direction, everyone is used to driving on these roads here.
Thanks again Marloes! That Emmaus store looks huge -would love a return visit one day? I’m wondering why do so many buildings have shutters closed? Are they vacant?
Do you and your family go a visit other nearby countries for a few days holiday ? Living here in Australia is one big Island and so every other countries are so far away and airplanes are the only option :( I will be going on many holidays exploring Europe when I move to France !!! Plus as a Leeds United fan I can finally go to a Premier league game woohoo !!! Maybe go see Messi play with PSG :))) There is so many options to explore and see in Europe compared to what I can do in Australia.
At the 25min mark the shelf behind ,it had all these magnificent MURANO splash design vases and bowls :))) They sell for around $50-80 each here in Australia and there was about 50+ on top of that shelf 😢😢😢😢 and I can't get my hands on them to sell online !
Merci pour vos vidéos que j'adore. Le magasin Emmaüs est superbement organisé. Pourriez-vous m'indiquer dans quelle ville ou village il se trouve. Par avance, je vous remercie. Bon week end.
Hi, do you ever test your dishes for lead? If so, what do you use? I’m in the states, we have test kits available, but they’re mostly for paint. It says it’s not reliable on dishes.
Hallo Marloes, in je handtekening staat de verwijzing om de cabin te boeken maar als je die kopieert en plakt zie je dat de "r" in bourgogne ontbreekt. Misschien even herschrijven?
@@FrenchCountryLife loved it not for everyone Love the type of pots you are collecting I would of bought the bowl just as is they pinn them here in Spain
They’re at work. It is not a busy city so it looks different. Villages and towns in the country are different. You’re not the first person asking about this… it’s intriguing 🤔
We are officially not allowed to burn it no… although we do make smaller fires sometimes to limit driving back and forth but it is officially against the law… Fortunately the dump is in the village, only a few 100 meters away so it’s not a lot of driving.
You have little idea what viewers want to see brocanting. Not old cheap dishes. Antique furniture and china, include prices and what you've purchased. Good luck.
I film everything at this thrift shop which is NOT a brocante for 2 reasons; 1 to show what it is truly like to search for these items in these places instead of at a curated brocante shop and 2 because even though I don’t personally like the objects, some viewers may. If you want to view another kind of brocante shopping, there are plenty of other channels you can follow. I personally do not like antiques and antique furniture so this is probably not the place for you. Thank you for not judging about what I do and do not know anything about without knowing anything about me and thank you for not imposing your demands on me. It’s a free country 🙃

I wish I could have that desk for Euro 160!
I’m surprised u don’t have a compost pile to put that organic material on. It eventually breaks down and can add vital nutrients to ur garden.
We do have a compost pile but will need to move it in the coming weeks when they start creating the parking
