@The Hardcore Comic Great video, as always, Matt! I am also a HUGE fan of "Ice Cream Man"! I feel like it hasn't really gotten the respect it deserves(or maybe *notice* is a more accurate word than *respect* to describe what I'm saying, lol). I rarely ever read single issues, as I am disabled & just do not have the money to try to keep up w/buying all the single issues of the comics I love. Instead, I buy the TPBs or HCs(or if I really like the series/miniseries & can afford it, I try to buy the deluxe/oversized/limited/Absolute/etc editions if the series/miniseries has put such an edition-- or editions, if more than one is warranted). I am a *major* fan of horror, which explains my love for "Ice Cream Man". I like the fact that, as u touched on, "Ice Cream Man" isn't a stereotypical horror story by *any* means. With each short story found within this anthology series, Riccardus(what a perfectly strange name to give the perfectly strange Ice Cream Man; I've searched the name online & the closest name to it I could find was Ricardus[same spelling, except for having just one "c" in the name]-- which is Germanic in origin, & means "powerful leader"... interesting🤔)veers his ice cream truck off the road, so to speak, taking it-- & therefore, the story-- into new territory that reaches well beyond your standard horror title. Do I feel that it contains some of the usual tropes commonly found within the more conventional horror titles? Sure. And that's not a *bad* thing. As I said, I love horror. And if u love horror, you're probably going to be okay w/the normal tropes of the genre; because when utilized the right way they play a pretty big role in the scares & fun you experience-- which is what made u a fan in the first place. But while "Ice Cream Man" contains some of the classic horror tropes, it is most definitely not *vanilla* in its flavor. No, "Ice Cream Man" is more like Neapolitan(or "Strange Neapolitan" if you want to use the title of the 2nd TPB)! It retains the best aspects of traditional horror tropes & themes, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of ways in which to instill fear, dread, and a strange-- yet sometimes all-too-familiar sense of unease & despair; all of which, ultimately, amounts to a refreshingly unique, if somewhat experimental horror anthology comic book series. What W. Maxwell Prince & Martin Morazzo have crafted in "Ice Cream Man" is one of the most innovative, intellectual, culturally relevant & socially aware horror comics I've ever come across. They also happen to carry some of the traits I value most in a horror comic: they can be darkly humorous yet deeply disturbing, & be gleefully grim while remaining truly terrifying. And that sense of dread & unease... that something is "off" or not quite "right" is palpable. This comic can be downright *weird* & I love it, lol! While that uneasiness & weirdness emanates from the mind of Prince, the ability to feel it as the reader can be attributed just as much-- at times, even more-- to both the dichotomy that is Morazzo's line art(it can fluidly appear as both wonderfully clean & crisp yet unsettling & hallucinogenic) & Chris O'Halloran's seamless color transitions from wonderfully ominous & menacing shades of dark reds & deep blues to vividly psychotic & trippy pastels. I just now realized how long my comment is! I'm dealing w/a lot right now. I won't go into it all because I don't want to sound as if I'm complaining. And it would probably be weird for someone to go into all of their problems in a comments section of a RUclips video that is about comics, lol. Everybody suffers from something-- physically, mentally, emotionally, or maybe all 3. I just wanted to explain why this has been such a long & rambling comment. And that is because this has a been a distraction for me. I'll leave it at that. I *did* want to ask u if u have any info on whether or not "Ice Cream Man" is going to be collected into deluxe HC format(like 2 TPBs/HC)? Even if u have no info, I'd still like ur opinion on the matter, if u don't mind. Thanx! And again, great vid! Keep up the good work! Oh yeah, my name is Matt, too!☺👍🏻

Hey Matt, nice to meet ya! Hope all is going well for you.
Your description of the book and the reasons you love it are spot on! You did a great job of articulating it. Far better than I did lol.
Have you seen Stay Tuned??? I’m curious if you got the same vibe as me in issue 11.
In regards to collected editions...nothing has been announced....yet! But my fingers are crossed that something does soon! If not....custom binds it will be!
I just finished another mini that if I read it earlier, it would of been in my top 5. Ghostbusters/Transformers! If you’re a fan of either IP...I’m a fan of both...then you need to check it out! Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening kill it! I love everything Ghostbusters they do!
Well man, I greatly appreciate your kind words and overall thoughts on Ice Cream Man! I sincerely hope that all is well with you and I will say a prayer for ya. Stay positive and again, thank you! Hope you continue to enjoy our channel.

@@TheHardcoverComic Thanx, Matt, for the complimentary words & especially for ur prayers! I know can tend to go on & on sometimes when talking about comics, movies, or other interests due to being manic(I have bipolar disorder), & can easily annoy people & drive them away. Luckily, I try to keep my RUclips comments to a couple per day, so I don't think that even if I go on a long rant in 1 or 2 comments that I'll get on anyone's nerves or drive them away, 😄. I haven't read "Ice Cream Man" #11 yet, as I've just finished the v.2 TPB. But from what u've said, I look forward to that issue, as I *luv* the movie "Stay Tuned"! As for "Ghostbusters", I, too, am a BIG fan! I have the first 2 oversized HC collections that started from the beginning of Burnham & Schoening's team up, & I agree that they are the *best* when it comes to "Ghostbusters"! Schoening's art *perfectly* captures the likeness of the actors in that cool, sort of caricaturish way! He captures the whole *feel* of the movies, in general! And Burnham has the characters' personas *down pat*! They are one heckuva team! I'd *luv* to see what Schoening(Burnham w/the writing, too, for that matter)could do on an "Army of Darkness" story! The "Evil Dead"/"AoD" franchise is another franchise that I just can't get enough of! My favorite TPB/story arc of "AoD" comics would be "AoD: Ashes 2 Ashes" by Andy Hartnell & Nick Bradshaw. It is sweeeet!!! And the art style by Bradshaw on this is similar, in a way, to how Schoening draws the Ghostbusters because he also uses a cartoony, sort of caricaturish style & it is *badass*! But I could see Schoening doing some *killer* stuff w/his style regarding the character design, expressions, etc of Ash & others-- like the "Wiseman"! And it'd be cool seeing him just cut loose w/the over-the-top blood & gore!!! Anyways, thanx again for ur mind words & prayers! I know I'll get thru this. I'm lucky to have the family I have. And it's awesome to have support & prayers from a cool-Internet-comic-reviews&more guy w/the same first name!😉👍🏻❤

Don’t worry about driving me insane. Comment away...everyone needs their outlets!
I have a couple of Army of Darkness omnibus tpb, but haven’t had a chance to dig into them yet. I wonder if they are the same ones you’re referring to. I’ll have to check tonight.
And totally agree about Burnham and Schoening. We had them on our old podcast a few years ago. (Separate times, but great guys!) Schoening REALLY did an amazing job capturing the TF’s likenesses.
Mike and I are probably going to do our weekly live show tonight, so feel free to stop in!
