Man when all those evangelical protestants start aggressively asking me where stuff is in the bible I just ask them where sola scriptura is in the bible.
Cameron Nunley The bible is the foundation of faith, it isn't the entire faith. Look at all the traditions of Christ Church all are based in the bible, ex. the holy mass is centered around the gospel.
Christmas is not pagan, it picked up some pagan traditions from pagan being converted and implementing some of their traditions to make it easier for them to accept the holiday.

Thanks Jimmy. Nice Batman shirt :D I think the church, especially the laity, needs to brush up more on Judaism, both ancient and rabbinical. Just as important is the dialogue between Jews and Christians.

But the Jews now are not the true ethnic Jews. They are Europeans who accepted the faith of Judaism. But as we all know being a Jew or Israelite is related to blood line and not by faith.
Jews are those whose mother are jewish. Catholics are jewish. they have Mary, a Jewish woman, as their mother.

This is a fairly balanced reply, and it's good that Jimmy rejects replacement theology, but he doesn't go far enough. He should have mentioned that the expression "new Israel" never appears in the New Testament, and therefore the expression "ethnic Israel" is redundant. In the New Testament, "Israel" always means... Israel (not the Church)! There are not two Israels. When Paul talks about being a Jew "inwardly" and "outwardly" in Rom 2:28 he does not hint at all at the possibility that Gentile Christians somehow become Jews. He is *restricting*, not expanding what constitutes a Jew - that circumcision of the heart is more important than circumcision of the flesh. It's true that the Church has a certain "part" in Israel, but this is by virtue of being "grafted in," in the words of Romans 11 (as Akin correctly notes).
Andre Villeneuve Andre, the New Testament IS replacement theology. The church is the new Israel. This is clear from the entire New Testament. Any reference to the Jews in Romans 9-11 discusses a future group of elect Jews that will be grafted into the true Israel, the church. there is no church and Israel, there is only the church now. If you look into this deep enough you will see.
