Thanks for sharing your day with us, Amanda! Please take some time to rest & recharge - you work really hard. Blessings to you & Peach; stay safe! ❤️🙏🏻😊
I personally find it harder as I get older to get things done in a timely manner. Stay safe out there! It's sooo beautiful there but I'm sure it has it challenges. So nice to see u my friend! 😊
You have my dream job. I'm so glad there are still wolves out there and they haven't been hunted into extinction. I'm from Victoria. I love the Cowichan sweater. Keep up the good work!
well, BC did a big wolf cull, which i don't know much about, but just the thought of it makes me ill :(. i'm with you... i am glad there are wolves out here. just wish they'd keep to their side of the island - haha :)
My heart has always as long as I can remember wanted to live as you are now.Live on girl! Stay safe warm and at peace.Peach be good and listen to mom.Blessings to you both.🎉
Nice that you have a line for Peach at the cabin to run on great idea for her safety and so you don't have to worry. She is a pretty girl. sure does look like a beautiful day there and a great day for you to split those logs , and then relax Spring is coming . I so enjoy your videos and the updates as to what's going on around camp and with Peach and yourself Thanks Amanda
Hi Amanda, I just subscribed. I saw the video from Alone that she introduced you. I'm so sorry about Buttercup. He was a beautiful dog and a great companion, I'm sure. Looking forward to watching your videos!
Happy you and Peach enjoyed this unusually warm spring weekend. I don't blame you for keeping a close eye on Peach, I wouldn't trust the wolves around my pup either. Very smart to keep yourself safe and not be distracted. Hope you both have a wonderful week. And thanks so much for sharing with us.
I can relate to you saying "I'm always doing something" I like to crochet to relax, it's nice to make a blanket or hat & scarf and give as a gift to family or friends.
Wow.. fantastic life.. hello all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪.. you seem like a very gentle soul, also a very brave soul. Keep living the dream ✨️.. May God protect you and keep you safe.
I can SO relate to your concerns about Peach! You’re being an excellent Canine Parent. I find myself being concerned about her while watching…then a note pops up, “don’t worry Peach is inside”. lol lol lol. Thanks for that. :)
Hello Amanda, love from Italy❤🎉.. so interesting to watch your work on this island...please take enough rest for urself😊 Wish you and peach safety and health and joy.❤
Blissful way to spend a day. Feels very peaceful. 😀 Thanks for giving one a view. First time here and enjoying the vibe. Pats for young Peach and all the best to you.
I know it’s hard work and it is for sure but I do envy you. Wow I wish I could have done what your doing now when I was young Thank you so much for sharing. Love the music ❤
Hi you’ve a huge workload , start by giving yourself a finishing early two days maybe sat/ sun that way you won’t feel like your taking to much “ your a worker “ But I know now I should have take. More time off myself. Looking back .. take time to do your own hobbies etc. Those wolves need to be scared away from the property . I thought they were nocturnal. The small island probably means these wolves don’t have the huge distances to travel do have a daytime awake pattern , there must be a wolf conservation group that can advise you . Take care. 💫
There is a RUclips film by Rick Andrews Films called Sea Wolves of British Columbia it's pretty cool and might answer a few questions about your wolves. Love your channel. A trail camera might be useful, there are some good ones and they can be fairly cheap.
Maybe Peaches senses the ancestors of the area? We currently have 4 puppies and their mama. Today a big coyote came right through the yard and then walked just up the hill and paced back and forth for about an hour. I am not a coyote, wolf or bear fan . Nope. We have a small acreage in northern Alberta.
Hi Amanda & Peach. Your story reminds me of a 1970s UK childrens tv show called ' Crystaltips And Alistair ' It was about a little girl with her dog at her tiny house in the woods. Each episode was just her chasing Alistair around the house. Weird huh ?
Years ago I used to have a wolf shepherd mixed dog one of the best dogs I've ever had but what it would do when it was smelt another animal around wolf or a cougar or even a deer it would start whining and the closer the animal got to us the more she would wind she was whispering when I've seen the first wolf while I was hunting and I spent most of my life in the bush i've never seen a wolf lots of sign and everybody used to tell me she looked just like a wolf and I used to distinguish all bull crap but a silver wolf came out of the timber I always used to say I would shoot a wolf I ever seen one but when it came out no way was I going to shoot that beautiful animal and it looked just like Angels did my dog some people were right
Hello from the Sunshine Coast, BC Canada. Fellow Caretakers here. Not as remote as you, but remote enough :) Thanks for the videos, looks like you are doing a wonderful job & also have a great companion!
Hello fellow caretaker :). The Sunshine Coast is beautiful. Lots of good memories sailing along the Sunshine Coast :). I seemed to end up in Pender Harbour and Secret Cove a lot :). Thanks for watching!
How about a container to throw the logs straight into your vehicle, rather than onto ground then having to put onto back of trailer? Or a kind of surround edge like a pick up truck has, but one that can clip on or be removed. You know you can train a dog , ( see gun dogs etc) it might be a nice little project, plus Peach can become more useful. You talk to your dog like its a child, hence it doesnt see you as master and wont come immeadiatly when called, and doesnt trust , - boat is a good example. Perhaps its a rescue nervous dog? But even they can be trained and become confident. Etc. You wouldnt have to tie them up then. Mind you Wolves, and the call of the wild may be a powerful thing for a dog.
Peach's recall is on point, better than any dog I've ever seen. She lived and trained with an incredibly talented dog trainer in Victoria. When she's exploring deep in the forest she will return immediately (and quickly) upon recall. The only reason she is on leash right now is b/c we have had sea wolves on the island trying to lure her away for the last 3 weeks.
Maybe get one of those blasting horns in case a,wolf comes to close for your comfort. Great idea to have her on a long run that shes, attached to would help your worries of her running off. ❤ love your videos
Good morning to you and Peach! You once mentioned how strong the currents are there. Is it difficult at this time of year navigating a boat to and from town? We had a boat when I was growing up and I miss being on the river so much! Such special memories. Thanks for sharing your time with us!! ☺
I watched your video of you moving deadfall off the hill and after a few tries got it down. I owned a farm where we used a wood burning kitchen stove for heat and cooking in the shoulder seasons, and for the severe cold in southern ontario farm country where the wind is fierce in the winter, we used a wood burning furnace, and so I was a bit mystified why you wouldn't use those branches either for kindling, or downright burning. I have a question. Do you or the owner/his friends ever do any fishing off that dock? I'm sure there are some great fish to catch for supper out there. I really enjoy your videos, and would love to live in that area, it is so beautiful there. I would never convince my grown kids to go though, so I get by watching you work. Thank You!!
the deadfall is just too much work to cut up nice and small for kindling so it's either burned in the big fire pit all at once or is used to fuel bonfires for the family and/or guests. we get SO much cedar from the ocean and we use it exclusively for kindling (the really nice stuff gets milled). we probably have about 2 years worth of cedar kindling in the wood shed :). the kids fish off the dock, but there is not much to get. you can sometimes get a small rock fish. the fishing here is top notch...salmon is plenty in the summer, just not from the dock.
I noticed in one of your videos that there seem to be plenty of driftwood logs on the shore of some islands, as seen from your drone camera. Are you saying they are all cedar? - I imagined that it would be pine. I also imagined that it would be a way to make a log structure when storing enough to dry. I have never been to that beautiful area and so you may laugh at that comment. I also noticed the way that you are lifting the cut pieces, that they must be light, as you are not lifting with your legs. I would hate to see you hurt your back.@@AmandaOffGrid
yes, when the tides come up logs from all the surrounding islands are jogged loose and we can pick them up. it would be illegal for us to take them from the shoreline of another island, but from the water is fine. no, not all would be cedar, but a good number are. we get a ton of hemlock from the water as well. if i have time and splitting isn’t urgent i leave the logs to dry out before splitting. coming from the water they can be pretty waterlogged and very heavy!!
Would a whistle around your neck also help? I've heard loud noises scare away wolves - if you're several metres away from Peach and you see a wolf - it may give you a few precious seconds whilst you race to her?
hi :)! thank you for watching. the sweater i am wearing in this video is a Cowichan sweater. made by the Cowican tribe on Vancouver Island. best sweater i've ever owned :)

wow!! how scary! i figure he’ll be hiding in the trees if he comes at us. i’m always watching that tree line along the road to the main house!!! i carry my dog spray with me wherever we go.
