    Dear Sreenivasagaru, thanks for the upload. It appears that this Thyagarajaswami krithi in karaharapriya seems to be made for BMK garu to present to us. Amazingly rendered. Eternal bliss. Wonderful support by the coartists. They are just not with us physically. How does it matter when their contribution is always going to be in the minds of rasikas. You are making it possible, Sir. Million thanks for your research and efforts in bringing out such unique renditions to the rasikas.

    Dear Murthy Garu, Thanks again for the amazing Thyagaraja krithi by BMK. One of the the aspects of this composition is that, in the caranam, when St Thyagaraja says - Manasuna talachi mymaraciyunnaara? Many artists sing it to emphasize the fact that Thyagaraja is asking Seetha and Lakshmana if they have lost themselves in the service of the Lord Rama. This is the most understood meaning.
    One of the beauties of BMK's rendering ( my personal perception of course) is that he brings out some other aspects as well emotionally. In this composition, he not only brings about the above said feeling of Thyagaraja, but the way the sangathis are delivered also indicate that Thyagara's affirmation that those who are in service of Lord Rama, indeed forget themselves. Thyagaraja is testifying that to the public at large and BMK proves it.
    Thank you and pranams.

      Thanks again for sharing your reflections. I salute your quality of listening.
      As my friend mentioned "The ability to feel when rendering at the level of a letter or a note or both is BMK's greatest strength without compromising the musical idiom".
      Bravo!

    Interesting that BMK sings it with the word 'Prakkala' while the usually sung word is 'Pakkala'. Now, knowing that BMK places great emphasis on the correctness of words, I guess this is the right way? What does it mean - 'Prakkala' - exactly? Thanks in advance for clarifying this. Thanks a lot for uploading this rendition, by the way! This is a gem!

    • @SreenivasaMurthy
      @SreenivasaMurthy  6 лет назад +3

      We could perhaps call the word PRAKKALA as the "language of books" and PAKKALA as the "language of street". Both words connote - beside, next to..
      We often hear this song being sung by others in a different way, giving a totally different meaning than intended by the composer.
      Here, Tyāgrāja tells himself “O mind, tell me how both Sita and Lakshmana standing on either side of Rama and serving him so dearly..
      The Anupallvi :
      Chukkala rāyuñigéru mómugala;
      sudati seetamma sowmitri rāmuñikiru - prakkalanilabadi...
      One need to sing the pallavi (prakkalanilabadi...) again on completing
      the Anupallavi at "rāmuñikiru" and should not sing the second line in a loop sudati seetamma sowmitri rāmuñikiru .. sudati , which implies an incorrect meaning of Rama havingtwo wives…
      BMK’s idiom of presentation of even a very popular composition (like this) portrays a perfect picture.

      Thank you very much for such a detailed explanation! :) Makes it more interesting to listen to now! That was nice of you to explain it for me! I was guessing it was something like "tatsama and tadbhava" in Kannada, where sanskrit-derived words undergo some changes. Thanks for your other so many uploads too! A great collection for many more hours of music for me!

    Murthy sir, is there any recording of Dr.BMK singing Chakkani Raja? I haven't been able to find one yet. Being such a popular krithi, I am sure he must have rendered it multiple times.

    • @SreenivasaMurthy
      @SreenivasaMurthy  5 лет назад +1

      I haven't heard BMK rendering this composition in the recordings curated so far. But, there is a glimpse of this kriti in the Malayalam movie - Ente Mohangal Poovaninju(1982).
      If you have not heard this, please listen to the track 89 in the collection uploaded earlier..
