Let me tell you I saw the whole set recorded from the pit, Sit and Mourn to end the show, with all the rain, the three guitars and bassist just synchronized head banging, it just pure glory.

Knocked Loose is THE hardcore band of the modern era. Their legacy will go down as one of the most important bands like Minor Threat and Refused were for previous generations.
I love this. I've been listening to KL since their first full album and always been a fan. I don't get why some people in the hardcore/metal scene are not happy for them and the genre. This is when the gatekeeping starts again, same thing they did with metalcore/deathcore in 2000-2010.
You're making things to be offended about that barely exist. Except for the jean vest boomers who think Megadeth was the last metal band, nobody really acts like that. I don't like KL because I can't tolerate Brian's shrill, high pitched terrier vocals. I'm otherwise core- obsessed, as are the loudest and biggest segments of the metal fandom. I'm happy for any band that achieves success without some moron in sagging jeans grabbing his crotch and "guest rapping" over the vocals.
Lifelong metalhead, and at the time I was already into Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus and Cannibal Corpse, but I remember seeing Sepultura and Sevendust on Mike Bullard (Canadian late night in the 90s), and thinking this is weird to see heavy music on mainstream Late Night TV. Also in Canada at that time, Tom Green was showcasing underground metal, punk and hip-hop on public access on his show (pre-MTV). Yes, this is less shocking since it was Tom Green afterall. To your point, it may expose kids to a new genre via shock but also gives Late Night TV the power to showcase lesser known artists to an audience who may never experience their art. Like or not, it's exposure, and there's a certain amount of clout that boosts the art. Finally, it may also expose the Late Night TV programming to an audience who may stick with it because their favorite bands were just on it.
