  • Thanks to this video I now have zero beer on tap! I love canning over bottling, mostly because I love this canner but also because it confuses your friends when you give them homebrew in a can. Cannular & TapCooler link in description!

    Flora,
    Thanks for your 3 Cannular Pro videos. Very informative as I am struggling to set one up for seaming 24oz crowlers. There is nothing yet on youtube on swapping over the chucks from 202 can to the 24/32oz crowler size (I believe it's called 303 or something along those lines).
    When I purchased mine a couple of weeks ago, it was supposed to be already set up for crowlers, but came with a crowler chuck shipped separately, so now I have to set the OP1 and OP2 rolls. Zero vids online. But we digress.
    I am impressed by your counter-pressure set up. I think I can adapt it to 303 crowler can in a pretty straightforward way. But when I went to your GreatFermentations link, it shows a newer, updated set up that is far more techy & which I cannot adapt. I contacted them and they do not offer anything for crowler sizes. Any ideas where I can buy a set up just like yours? Thanks!

    Great video! It is kind of relaxing to watch this thing work. I am asking myself though if canning is a big time saver when compared to bottling. You probably save a lot of time on cleaning (which is always the WORST thing about bottles) but the actual canning process does not look that much faster than my manual bottling process. I guess you still spend some hours with the canning for a batch, right? Anyway, cheers from Germany!

      I can usually get through a 5 gallon batch in half hr - 45 min if there's no hiccups. I think I just like the process more honestly.

      The keg is at 15 psi that's what I can at with the TapCooler. The beer is almost freezing, it keeps the foam down

    Flora can you help me figure out what I need for the water chemistry to brew a double NEIPA using distilled water?? I find the water chemistry part extremely complicated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @FloraBrewing
      @FloraBrewing  3 года назад

      I always use a tool like brew father, it's pretty simple. Pretty sure the going wisdom is use 2 parts calcium chloride to 1 part gypsum with distilled water for a NEIPA. Something like 8g calcium chloride to 4g gypsum

  • @speedbuggy7240

    I don't understand why someone would drink out of can rather than a bottle, but to each their own. It's cool that you can do that though.. How much is a system like that? I seen a bottling system to where you could bottle up to 4 bottles at a time that was about 20k. That's more for a nano or mirco brewery though.

    I have the same one but for some reason the seamer doesn’t work too well. Three of ten cans usually have leaks where the seam is. It’s so annoying that there is no place online that has instructions for it. I’ve seen the canny ale videos but they aren’t too much help. I’ve tried adjusting the table/chuck to make the can snugger and nothing. I adjusted the spinner screws and still nothing. I thought it would be ready to go as soon as I unboxed it but I think the seamer was off by just a tad. I also noticed that you tighten the handle that lifts the table with a wrench where as I just hand tightened it. Maybe I should wrench tighten it? God I wish these guys had a legit installation trouble shooting video.. maybe I got a lemon.. thanks for the awesome brew videos as you were the one that got me into canning when I seen your first canning videos.

    • @FloraBrewing
      @FloraBrewing  3 года назад +1

      That's interesting. The only time I've had trouble with either is if the can was too low. You may have gotten a wonky one. I will never understand the lack of instructions for homebrew equipment. I guess it's why I have a RUclips lol.

    • @themechanicslab
      @themechanicslab 2 года назад +1

      Don't be surprised if you have a "wonky" machine mate. Just like your 1 in 10 cans my machine was lucky enough to properly seam 1 in 3 and it would still weep at its full carbonation stage.
      The reason you cannot find proper instructions on these machines is because they are an extremely poorly designed and manufactured machine. Its the equuvilamt of buying a motor car and having to pull the engine out and set the timing from factory... oh, and buy all the specialised tools at an extra cost.
      I have properly set and reset my machine up in excess of 15 times and it hasn't gotten any better.

    • @tornsaelee7936
      @tornsaelee7936 2 года назад

      Hey James, you can print the instructions online. It's provided from the MoreBeer store website. See the link: www.morebeer.com/products/cannular-pro-semiauto-bench-top-seamer.html. Scroll down to where it says, "Documents" and download it there. There's a very specific, narrow range of how far apart each of the spinning parts are supposed to be set at. I understand exactly what you mean when you say you can't get it to be exactly where you need it to be at because there's multiple moving parts. You kind of just have to overcompensate a little bit when tightening. Also, you will likely need to purchase the measuring device from Amazon as it is required to be measured to the mm's. That's what I did and mine eventually was able to work correctly after a lot of trial and error. Another heads up, I would can a few cans and let it sit for a couple of weeks at room temp before canning a whole keg. For me, I thought it was perfect only to find out a week later that they had a very slow lead of syrup (not even liquid) coming out.
      No matter what, try not to lose hope or give up. You will get there, just keep trying. Good luck to you and whoever's reading this that could use the info.
