Every vehicle I have has a battery tender on it... Never a dead battery anymore! My car battery is going on 9 years and has the original battery cranking! I live in Northern half of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.
I have battery tenders on my gas generator; riding lawnmowers; jet skis batteries; boat battery; summertime convertible; motorcycle; and a Benz parked in the winter. Park them: connect the battery; walk away, they'll start when the time comes!

Of the many things I loved about Alberta, was that dry fluffy snow. At UofC was gob-smacked (used to sloppy Montreal winters) watching the snow being brushed off the sidewalks and roads on campus. But that piercing cold...... rushing from building to building to try to evade it.

Also like watching live trains go thru the european snow covered country side. Don't know what else you show on your channel, but I sub'd just in case you do another one. Love the vid!!

Done the same since since about 1990. In 2020 I upgraded to a UTV with heater, extra lights, and home made wing on one side.. Pushes twice the snow much faster. Did buy a new atv at the same point and it's set up to plow as well, but use it more for pushing wind rows of pine needles in the summer.

I have a 400 ft ash fault driveway I had a can am quad we had 13in first year we lived there 3 times in 2014. I couldn't barely get it done. I sold the quad bought a 95 k2500 Silverado with 120000 miles on it. Never had the problem again. It's just easier. Or put a plow on one of your trucks we seen on video there will be a time you wont be able to push snow but with a truck you'll be able to do anything maybe not 48in though.

Nice garage shop. So how is it plowing with an ATV? Looks like fun, but maybe a bit cold. Looks like you have a pretty nice place. I would love living out in the country too. Instead, I live in the city, but it's kind of like living in the country, very scenic, lots of trees, park like setting. We even have deer and turkeys that travel along our property.

      @Martyupnorth  6 лет назад +3

It works very well. I've been doing our driveway for so long that I've developed a pattern and learned a few tricks. One thing in particular is to push the snow as far as possible off to the side in the early season. Later on the snowbancks get heavy and too high.

Few things you'll (hopefully) learn about plowing with an atv.
    1) ALWAYS run a battery maintainer during the winter. Otherwise you'll always have a dead battery and you'll eventually wind up cooking your stator from trying to charge and running the winch/fan/lights.
    2) see #1

As the temperature hits 95 south of Chicago, I'm putting my new plow on my Can Am Commander. I plowed many years with an ATV and found a few bags of sand or salt gave me the traction to blow through any product from piled up snow. Problem is that it's harder than hell to steer if you don't have power steering. Enter...my Can Am Commander....with power steering. I bought a power tilter (Koplin) and hopefully things will get easier. I've been in your shoes though. Brrrr If you want to get rid of your dogs I'll take them! Good luck

NS Gearhead properly done, an atv will finish faster than a tractor in less than 1/2 the time. Remember, unless you're pushing 10"+ of heavy wet snow with an atv...on a driveway like his, tou can plow at fairly high speeds (15-18 mph). Tractor with a blower is maybe 2-3 mph at best.

Thanks for the advice. I sold that old beast a year ago. Now I run a new Polaris 1000. It makes small work of this job. Cheers.

Always try to push it out to the other side of your entrance so the plow truck doesn't push it all right back in.

You can cut your time down by re-angling the plow at the end of each run and plowing on the way back. This way you’re plowing on every pass. I can’t tell what setup you have but I have a 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4i EPS with a Warn 60” tapered plow on a front mount. The tapered plow really throws the snow when angled properly.

Yes, but it wouldn't be as much fun. My youngest couldn't drive the truck, but he can drive the ATV. Cheers from Alberta.

Mr. MartyUpNorth seems alright. That's what snow plow looks like. Cubes of snow per minute seems like the main concept of energy vs engineering. Hope I am able to fit my All Terrain snow plow onto my truck. Thinking about using a electric thread to lift & set the blade height.

joshua morin thats a dam good question. It seems to be the Alberta way, I see lots of house holds here that people are parked outside on the driveway covered in snow. I park in the garage

It's a pole shed by Goodon Industries. 30'x48'x14, which is the maximum size my county allowed. It went up in about 5 days.

Seing the size of your driveway you should invest In a couple hundred dollar beater truck and a used 8ft plow it would be a lot faster easier and warmer might not be as much fun as the quad though

I'm just curious where he lives because he has a license plate on the four-wheeler. Is it getting to the point to where you have to have a license plate on every piece of equipment.

    • @zzz7zzz9

yup. we have to be plated and registered, here in B.C. also, yet that doesn't allow us to use them on the roads, figure that one out. we can ride in the bush and on the bush roads and have to, by law, wear a helmet at all times. but, people can zip all over town on their handicap scooters, disregarding all rules of the road and don't have to be plated or wear any safety equipment, and, most all of them are surely "impaired" by meds and poor eyesight, etc. Canada is great, but many of our laws just leave one scratching their head. it's all just cash-grabs.

Haha, you did a great snow job Man! I just put a 52" plow on one of my quads, eagerly waiting for the first real snow. I fab the plow using scraps of my bone yards. I used to plow snow with a 5ton digger, too slow.

Tracks and a flex plow blade is the way to go if using a quad. Pile high and leave edges smooth so wind blows straight across and doesn’t dump more in the driveway.
