    I love the emotion. The fact that a guy who kills turkeys with the consistency of Dave, still gets the shakes like that...... that's what it's all about. My opinion, Dave is the best turkey hunter in the country. Best turkey hunting channel out there, period.

    Great turkey hunt Dave! I agree wholeheartedly - too many people hunt, not only turkey, but other game, for just bragging rights or a photo opp. I've quit taking people hunting for those very reasons, they have no respect for God's creation!

    Lifelong hunter here. Killed my first bird when I was 10. I won't necessarily say I was killing turkeys just for the pictures or social media, but I got caught up in always wanting to share everything a few years back. I got rid of all social media except RUclips about 4 years ago and I too found myself slowing down just being more "in the moment". I always sit and recap how things played out and thank the animal for its sacrifice and for the bittersweet joy it provided to me. Primos plays a clip of Wilbur talking in the beginning of their turkey videos and it always gives me chills. Great video and a big new fan here. I purchased one of your calls the other day can't wait to test it out. Good luck this spring

      Want to hear the most bizarre thing? The year prior to starting Pinhoti (2017) I signed out of ALL social media prior to spring turkey season. I couldn't stomach the disrespect. If memory serves me right, I shared 1 picture that Spring. During the following off season the topic arose often and was posed as "if not us, then who?" Who was going to show the unknowing masses the disrespect didn't represent us all and as a matter of fact, represents very few of us as hunters, specifically turkey hunters. Social media's not for everyone, heck half the time I feel like it isn't for me- but I've been able to see the greater good and work through the negativity.

    • @tylergrant-peters4563
      @tylergrant-peters4563 Год назад

      @Dave Owens: the Pinhoti Project there are hunters and then there are turkey hunters. It takes one to know one. A true, passionate, honest lover of the spring woods. I took my first deer years before I got a turkey. But turkey hunting with my dad, exactly how you do in your videos, is what made me fall in love with hunting across the board. Prospecting miles and miles of these big west Virginia mountains to get on a hot bird. I was lucky enough to have someone that was good at it and understood it to show me the ropes. I hate to remind myself, but our whippoorwill population here in the east is dwindling down to almost nothing. I could sit in the dark for days at a time listening to them as a kid, now you're lucky to hear one every couple trips. I've coined them the "death bird" and always tell my kids to listen for them because, if we hear a whippoorwill, someone is getting a turkey that day. Or at least thats what we like the believe lol. Keep the videos coming!

I wished that I would have kept a journal, at 66 years old and now with health issues, I can still recall almost all my hunts,turkey, deer, ducks, grouse, even squirrel. It would sure be nice to go back and read about them , cause I'm sure l can't remember everything. Very much like you always appreciated every harvest big or small.

    Great hunt! One thing I try and do along with getting some good pics of the bird at the kill site , is to place a green twig or blade of grass in his beak as a sort of last meal and as a way to respect the fine bird. And as you do it’s always good to sit and relax and take in the beauty and the blessings that the Good Lord has just let you be apart of . Thank you for recognizing the importance of that and for using your platform to promote it! Many more good hunts to you!!!

      For a lot of people it’s personal preference but for a lot of other people when using tight chokes and dense turkey loads the point of aim and point of impact may be off a bit in some shotguns. Red dots will correct that for you
