    São Paulo is safe as long as you have some common sense navigating it. A very nice city if you're looking for an authentic experience but still want to be in a global city, not that hard to find people that speak english, tourist areas very receptive. Worth checking it out!

    Actually, the security guard was very nice to you by allowing you to get there. The Sesc rooftop is one of the main tourist attractions on Paulista Avenue. To access it, you have to book online in advance.

    Just a few small corrections: Paulista Avenue is not the economic center of São Paulo; that title belongs to Faria Lima Avenue. Additionally, Paulista is not the fanciest street in the city or the country. Faria Lima and many other streets in São Paulo and other cities in Brazil are fancier than Paulista. While traditionally the most important street, Paulista has been in decline, with businesses moving away for nearly three decades now. It remains significant due to its location near the city's geographical center, its name and tradition, public transportation, and the variety of landmarks it offers.

    • @joseluciocorrea1866
      @joseluciocorrea1866 2 месяца назад +1

      A few corrections to your corrections! Paulista avenue is NOT in decline, just the opposite is happening! A few years ago it was in decline but not lately, there is a heavy demand for offices and shops there! And the number of people passing by is growing - the municipality calculates that some 1 million people pass by this avenue daily! And there is no other more important or fancy avenues elsewhere in Brazil!

    • @MattZaycYT
      @MattZaycYT 2 месяца назад

      @@joseluciocorrea1866 I disagree. Just as New Yorkers don’t consider Times Square fancy, I don’t see Paulista Avenue that way either. Offices are concentrated along Paulista because it’s the city’s geographical center, well-connected by public transportation, and more affordable than other areas. However, being busy isn't enough. It's just one of many metrics to consider. For Paulista to be the most famous and the best, it needs improved safety, new buildings, and a revitalization. While no other place can surpass Paulista in terms of fame or its status as a city landmark, when it comes to being modern, attractive, and the headquarters for most big companies, that title belongs elsewhere.

    • @joseluciocorrea1866
      @joseluciocorrea1866 2 месяца назад +1

      @@MattZaycYTI did not say that Paulista is the fanciest street in the metropolis! São Paulo has 7 business centers. Contrary to what you say, the one most centrally located is the old centro where the Marco Zero, the central point of the metropolis is located at Praça da Sé! The point most highly evaluated in Paulista is its rich variety! Its area have many offices, 4 shopping malls and lots of shops, it is a financial center, it is the most important cultural center of the city with its most important art museum, the MASP, the huge Itaú Cultural Center, with its historical and numismatic museums and several temporary art exhibitions! The SESC main complex, the Japan and the Korea houses with all kinds of exhibitions, the Moreira Salles Center and library, the Casa das Rosas, which is the most important center for poetry, the FIESP headquarters with exhibition halls and a theatre! Paulista area has 4 theaters and several movie complexes, it is an important media center with 3 TV networks with headquarters there! And it is a much praised gastronomic complex with several famous restaurants in its area as well as several good and big hotels! And finally, it has 2 parks! That's why Paulista is considered the most famous and visited area of SP!

    great video! although, i disagree with portuguese and spanish being basically the same thing. they may look similar, especially in the writing, but the tonality and phonetics are what make portuguese unique from spanish apart from vocab. for example, at 6:00 “histórias indígenas” is actually pronounced “ees-tò-riuhs een-djee-zhi-nuhs.” hope you post another brazil vlog soon!

    as a Brazilian and geography nerd, Sampa is not the biggest city in the Americas, because there are two continents, South America and North America, icluding both in one region in 2024 dont make sense, also Sampa is actually The Biggest city outside Asia, meaning that in both geographical western and southern hemisphere Sampa is the biggest city. The City have the biggest GDP among Southern Hemisphere cities, but you confuse the city and the State GDP, São Paulo City metropolitan GDP is around 350 billion dollars (rank:42 in the world) The São Paulo State GDP is 720 billion dollars (Rank:22 in the world) in 2023 data

  • @Somethingaweful
    @Somethingaweful 3 месяца назад

    Look, I know it's gramically correct. But if you're refering to both South America and North America. You should use the biggest city in "THE" Americas.
    Saying the biggest city in America. Sounds like you're reffering to the country.

      Not at all. I am from Puerto Rico and it always bewilders me how gringos have appropiated that word. The US is in America, just like many other countries, including Brazil. There is no such thing as America the country. That only exists as a figment of the gringo imaginarium.
