Nailed it! In one of President Carter's books he talked about how hard fought that treaty was to work out. He also spoke about it being the only treaty between those countries that had never been broken.
My brother in law and I recently had a conversation about the Camp David Accord when Jimmy Carter died. So, that likely helped me make the 1979 connection. This was probably taped before Carter's death.
According to the J! Archive, this was filmed 12 November 2024. Not only was it filmed before Carter died, it was filmed the week before the anniversary of Rosalynn's death.
I should have gotten that one. Albeit, I would have been less than a year old at the time. I take a lot of pride in the knowledge I have in Geography. Sad part is I fell into the Ireland trap answer.
I taught middle school in Egypt for two years during Covid. Each morning we would begin school with the playing of the national anthem. I can't believe that experience would ever benefit me in Final Jeopardy!
question was easy if ur born in Egypt like me and only heard ur parents singing it 10000x in my life. but if ur not Egyptian, not many will know this. Very tough.
It took me over the time limit, but once I was able to process I thought of... .... ... Jimmy Carter. Camp David Accords. Again, not in time, but I eventually guessed Egypt. 1979, you think Iran immediately. Hard to re-orientate yourself so quickly, unless you immediately knew.
SPOILER ALERT!!! 🔔 Nailed it! 1979 as Ken did was the clue, but I can see why someone would say Iran as that’s when they had their revolution. But it was also the same year Egypt and Israel signed the peace treaty and which still stands today! And was one of the reasons Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize
I guess older folks like me remember what a big deal it was- and I was in high school, when most of what you care about is either yourself or what others think of you! 😅
Extremely difficult question. Both me and my dad drew a complete blank. My dad thought it was some African country, and I thought the anthem lyrics sounded Slavic.
It was pretty sad watching the contestants struggle with this one. No need to cry to your mommy that these clues are too hard. If you cannot handle this material, maybe you are not as smart as you think you are. If you cannot handle this material, maybe you need to step aside and make room for more knowledgeable people to get on the show. Enough of these gimmick tournaments! Let's have a wildcard tournament for people who have not been on the show who really know their stuff.
Normally they can't compete at TOC in the past but this is their final chance of getting a prestigious TOC. CWC winner Emily Sands won her QF match last year, Juveria Zaheer almost won against Luigi De Guzman in her QF match. In this edition, not every 1 game champion can compete at CWC.
The 2nd step of getting to compete at Jeopardy! Masters. The 2025 TOC winner will face Victoria Groce, Yogesh Raut & James Holzhauer in the 3rd season of JM.
@briantravelman Average person would guess Muslim or Western countries. Any layperson would know that Bilady can't be sound in Vietamese or any East Asian languages!!
Yeah, 1979 was definitely the key, first thing that came to mind was the video of Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat.

Tough one!

@@mr.timetraveler8784well, there you go. I’m pretty sure it would not have occurred to me had I not been reminded by coverage of Carter's legacy.
I should have gotten that one. Albeit, I would have been less than a year old at the time.
I take a lot of pride in the knowledge I have in Geography. Sad part is I fell into the Ireland trap answer.
@@hsupower. I can understand how people could be thrown off by trying to identify the language of the anthem title.
Got this one. 1979 was totally the key.
Seeing 1979 and knowing Arabic helped! بلادي means my country or my homeland.
I taught middle school in Egypt for two years during Covid. Each morning we would begin school with the playing of the national anthem. I can't believe that experience would ever benefit me in Final Jeopardy!
I was able to get Egypt on a guess as I thought of the Camp David summit
@@mrhorgan YOU SPOIL, YOU ROT!!!
Got it! Very happy to get that one!
Being a teenager in 1979 definitely helped me out here!
Not nearly as fun as my other favorite national anthem, "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"
With President Desmond and his First Lady Molly. Life goes on RAH! 😁

I don’t believe the people who are saying they knew it, when the contestants didn't even know it.
That's strange to say. It's not necessary that the contestants should know everything.
I originally had Egypt in my head, but Bilady to me didn't sound right, so I then said Israel. My gut was right lol
YOU SPOIL, YOU ROT!!!
Canada represent!

I was thinking of Brazil
Wow! I got it! But I have been thinking about President Carter a lot lately. 😢
I got this one! Helps to have been around then
Got it.
Was thinking Iran too, but then I got it because of a spoiler comment mentioning the correct Country's President. 🙄🙄🙄

As Ken said, 1979 was the key. I GOT IT.
As did I! 🇪🇬
HOW?
That's how I got it too. It was down to the 2 Countries and I figured for one it didn't make sense so I went with the correct one.

1979 was not an automatic giveaway, because Iran also experienced a revolution in that year
Instantly.
I guess living during that time, like I did, cinched it.
I got the right treaty but put the wrong country from it. Still better than those guesses!

1979. Got it right away.
Yep. So did I. The year was the key.
Being a belly dancer really helped me out here!
Why is "Of The World" always added at the end of "Countries"? It's kind of redundant, no? 🤔
To differentiate them from countries of the astral plane, obviously.
I guess older folks like me remember what a big deal it was- and I was in high school, when most of what you care about is either yourself or what others think of you! 😅
My dad's an older folk and didn't know it either
What is Egypt?
I got this Final Jeopardy! clue right!
Spoilers
You Better NOT……..!!!
I have no clue. My first thought was Spain, but I forgot Spain's national anthem doesn't have any lyrics.
I knew the answer, but I don’t SPOIL anything, and I always take necessary precautions to prevent SPOILAGE;
What Is……
Egypt!!!
Extremely difficult question. Both me and my dad drew a complete blank. My dad thought it was some African country, and I thought the anthem lyrics sounded Slavic.

Dumb guess for Vietnam!! Bilady can't really be Vietnamese😂
Why not? Like the average person just knows what language that is, let alone who's anthem
@briantravelman Average person would guess Muslim or Western countries. Any layperson would know that Bilady can't be sound in Vietamese or any East Asian languages!!
