I honestly find myself 100% agreeing with this whole list I still need to see the Skull Island anime, but for everything else, I couldn't have said it better myself KOTM felt like a love letter to everything that I love and touched my heart like few things have done before or since. I long for Dougherty and McCreary to return. My computer cycles through different images for my desktop wallpaper, and half of the images are stills from that movie.
I think I also enjoyed KOTM more than any other film in the Monsterverse. It had some great interpretations of the classic Toho monsters and its visuals & score were on point. Like most of these films, I had issues with the story but overall it did a lot right. I also appreciated some of the wild tech like flying fortresses and underwater bases. That sci-fi element felt like it was inspired from the Japanese films.
They originally said that Godzilla and Kong were going to have another battle in the Hollow Earth. But, nope. Adam Wingard didn't like that idea. Yes, he didn't like that. There was an idea in Godzilla vs. Kong. Which was scrapped, Kong goes to the top of the building and roars (like the rest of his movies like 1976's King Kong and King Kong 2005) then Godzilla uses his Atomic Breath and Blast the whole building Kong falls from that building and then Godzilla Stomps on Kong. This was a scrapped idea from Godzilla vs. Kong. This scene was almost there in the Crossover movie. But Adam Wingard didn't like that idea. Adam Wingard in his script on Godzilla vs. Kong and Adam Wingard almost wrote that Godzilla uses his atomic breath in Kong's face in Godzilla vs. Kong after Godzilla Stomps on Kong. Kongs' faces would have been burned. There was another script, At first, Adam Wingard decided that Godzilla would fight Kong on Skull Island. But after that, Adam Wingard decided to make their battle flashy, and then he decided to add Hong Kong. There was a script that Godzilla would tear off Kong's flesh from his hand on Skull Island. See this image from Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla vs. Kong would have been a dark movie like 2014'S Godzilla. Yes After 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters underperformed at the box office Adam Wingard decided to bring Hollow earth idea. Major reshoots took place. See this at first Kong punches Godzilla on his face, then Godzilla tear off Kong's flesh from his hand. There was another scrapped idea of Godzilla vs. Skullcrawler in Skull Island. Don't expect a dark tone like Godzilla (2014) when Adam Wingard is there. Third Crossover movie will also like Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, but with Godzilla being focused.
@@MikesMonsters Adam Wingard got the green light from Legendary to continue the Monsterverse. The news will come out within a few days. Legendary's President is very happy about this news. The third Godzilla/Kong Crossover movie with Godzilla being focused is coming soon.
KOTM was the first Godzilla movie that I have seen so it hold a special place in my heart
A perfect first film!

Love it! KOTM is seriously top tier of the Monsterverse.
I dont think there is a single bad monsterverse project, everything is mid or above
This is very true.
Godzilla KOTM will forever be my favourite MonsterVerse film
I'm right there with you!

We need another King of the Monsters style film!
I unironically hope that one of the spin off projects is Mothra centric.
I'd be very down for that!
