Thanks for the tips. I wanted to get the Mako 17, but had the same space issue. So I went the the Pro 16 skiff instead. That allowed me to put the hinge on the trailer neck and fit it straight into my garage (total length of the garage is 19' 6") with about 6 inches to spare.
This is good to hear. I'm trying to find something that will fit into a 19.5' garage and looking into the Mako Pro's....reckon I'm going to check out the 16's. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Joe, looks like according to your length boat and garage. I will be able to fit a 19 Mako Pro skiff into my 22 ft garage. Is your boat parked straight in or is at an angle?
Bought mine 3 years ago. Pretty happy with it except for the front dry box built into the casting deck. I live in Florida with 100% humidity in the summer. When storing it after a day on the water always make sure and leave it (the hatch) open. If you don't this place becomes a mildew factory and STINK OMG!
Bunk Man I actually open all hatches as I store mine in the garage. When I didn’t I noticed mold on my life vest and in my livewell. Good call for sure. Open all hatches when storing indoors.
I have the same boat...she's been good to me. I've taken all over Florida from the keys to the pan handle. Just lost my lighting circuit tonight so I'll have to troubleshoot it next week.
Hi, my name is Curtis. Amazing videos. Awesome lots of great information. Very good stuff. You don’t see other sites I really don’t visit other sites but anyways good info. I’ve been looking at these boats for 20 2417 foot. I do a lot of rivers and I do a lot of what they call. The sounds like the sounds like the sounds of Navarre Beach how does this boat handle with possible rough weather low riding rivers I’m sure it’s just like any other, but how’s the stability and what’s the depth that it sits at? Do you know any of that cause it seems like you really earned this boat thank you so much and I appreciate any feedback before I buy one.
Mine is in my garage the same way. With a hinge I think, if I measured right, about three inches of leeway with the hinge folded back. I will let you know how it goes if I do it. My wife doesn't mind the obstruction so it works how it is right now. Things could change😁
All you guys looking to buy a boat like this need to look hard at a Gator Trax aluminium boat , you can design it the way you want and you won't have any of these problems . They ain't cheap and you gotta wait but you don't go fishin to save money and the time you're gonna wait is saved in headaches
Thanks for the info on the video. I've been debating on getting one of these 17ft pro skiffs as I fish about 70/30 fresh to salt and run decently shallow rivers so it would work for everything I needed it for. It was between this and one of those grizzly trackers.
Cut 8 in out of your frame looks like u have the room or use a bigger piece of tube steel and slide it over the existing tube to make a sldeing hitch /u would have to use 2 tractor pins each time to lock it in place , if have enough space.
Good well built boat I've fish several times. For the money they are hard to beat.. Just know that they will sink, they do not have positive flotation.
Honestly I have never known anyone who stored their boat in the garage. Storage is usually in the driveway or back yard under a cover or in a yard shed at most, just a suggestion.
It looks like you've installed a couple of rod holders, could you post about them and your ideas for rod holder installation and placement on the pro skiff. Thanks.
I bought the 2015 model and have had no problems with it in Central Texas. Fortunately I live on a corner lot with space on the side I can back it into the yard behind a gate. The only thing I don't like is the tongue weight--it's abut 300 pounds!
I own a 2017 Mako ProSkiff 17 and it fits perfectly with a few inches to spare on each end in my 21FT garage with the motor trimmed down and the swing away tongue I installed. I will post pics on my channel and link it here tomorrow or the next day.
Man i am in same position just cant decide to buy this size cause of attached garage about 21 by 21 like urs and wife another issue wants her new car inside all times. Storage places monthly lots of money thats xtra expense u know so im between this boat and jetski waverunner i know its nit same ... i dono how heavy this be to push back with hands in the backyard
Good video. Where did you get your Bimini top? Anything to consider prior to getting one added to the boat ( certain brand, installer, strength of holding brackets and arms , etc...) ? Thanks
1S1K honestly, I just asked for a top when I got the boat. Bass pro installed it. I have only used it a handful of times. When fishing with family. When fishing with the boys or my daughter. It hardly gets used. Gets in the way.
What Fishfinder are you using? How wide? I have the same boat (Mine is a 2015) and am looking for a good FF. I had a Dragonfly7 but it gave up the ghost last week. I like the Simrad but they are 18 inches wide. Not sure how that would fit on that small CC. Any advice./info you can give would be great. THANKS!
It will drain itself if you pull the drain plug and get the boat up on plane. The water will drain out... then just plug the drain hole from the inside.
So how's the slippery spot fix holding up i just bought the same boat a 2018 has the 60 on it and a riptide 55 and it has the Bimini top and a Helix 7 chirp finder Have you had any problems with the trailer or boat at all
Mike Smith I never actually grip tapped the spot. Have only slipped on it once due to sunblock over spray. Trailer has been great! Zero problems. I do fish 90% fresh water though. :)
DAILYGRIND for what I do I would do it all over again. The price is just where it needs to be for me personally. My family loves spending weekends in the saltwater sandbars and I am pretty much fresh water when it comes to fishing. So this skiff gives me a solid platform for my kids to walk around with plenty of room and also holds up decent to the harsh saltwater conditions. If I did not have a family I would probably picked up a bass boat as I prefer fresh water fishing. :) hope that helps!
Becky Fox I have noticed at some boat ramps depending on water level and angle of truck it will hit the bow lip on the way off. Some times I give it a shake with the truck to release it. Hopefully that helps answer your questions with some confidence. :)
I bought a 2017 model a month ago. I'm real happy with it except for one issue I have. The bow always hangs up on the front trailer roller when launching. I've seen a couple of posts on fishing forums about changing out the roller for a horizontal bunk. Have you had this problem?
Brian Bfd in the beginning. Then a friend of mine showed me a better way to do than how I was doing it. Basically, putting the trailer in just so the top of the fenders are hardly sticking above water. Then just motor it all the way up. I have had no issues since.
How do you like it? I am a bit on the fence due to all the bad reviews on previous makos and that tracker marine doesn't really stand behind their products. I've read a lot of horror stories of leaks and cracks and so on. Would love your honest opinion
What's up dude! Nice video man! So, I'm looking for something under $20k and have NEVER purchased a boat before. If I wanted to do some inshore fishing with a couple of buddies, would you recommend a 2017 Mako Pro Skiff 17?
John E I definitely would. I fish shallow fresh water swamps a lot and I have fished 4 people as you can see in of my videos pretty nicely. I like fishing the river as well which I normally bring my family so we can swim and chillax at the sandbar. Which is also 4 people.
If you don't want to put gelcoat and sand on it ...go to loews or home depot and get 3m sandpaper tape..i put some in my mother in laws shower so she wouldn't slip ..it lasted about a year..
That braided line kills everything it even clogged and killed part of my sewer line at home. I would ball up my cutoff line and put it in my pockets and then it goes through the wash. Over the years it it stacked up in the iron pipes like a dead cat.
@@BrevardFishingLunatics whatever you do try not to let that stuff go into the water and make sure you take it all out of your pockets before doing your laundry . What i have on my boat now is a plastic coffee can with part of a new toilet brush inside , cut slits on the coffee lid so i can shove my hand inside with the old line . The brush grabs the line and keeps it inside. Its been working great for me for the past 3 years now.
Any one had issues with the power switch on theirs? Ive had to warranty fix my power switch 5 times in 2 years and now have to take it back again...because none of the lights, live well, or bilge will come on. This happens every few months....Bass Pro keeps telling me they fixed it but they haven't! Wondering if this is a normal thing or not?
skabootykat I have never run out of gas. I always bring a backup 2 gallon tank. If I plan on staying morning until night. I’ll bring my second 6 gallon.
Jason Gilmore I personally have not had any issues. I also have not been in any crazy chop either. On the other hand I have hit tree stumps pretty damn hard. No damage as of yet. You should search Mako Pro Skiff Mods on Facebook. There is a group with Mako Proskiff owners.
I have the 2015 model. LOVE it! Only issue is the humidity here in Fla makes that front hatch mildew and stink. Have to keep it aired out. Don't store anything permanently in there. Empty it out and keep the hatch open when you are finished for the day.

Had a brand new one for about a year.what junk mako has become..looks good from 10 foot away but take a closer look and you'll find endless flaws. Built the cheapest way possible..half the screws were stripped or in sideways thing was a joke... theres no way it would have stayed solid for more then a few years..look under the sidewalls and you'll see what i mean. There's a reason why theses boats are cheaper then the rest..do yourself a favor stay away from mako boats....what good is a so called lifetime warranty on junk
YOU ARE A GENIUS. That live well trick with the impeller is GENIUS

Good info. Thank you sir. I’ve been debating on this for days and the info you provide is beneficial.
Thanks for the info. Just got a 21’ mako pro skiff.
How you liking it so far?
thanks for the vid... i own one too and was thinking of using sand and a flat clear coat to fix that slippery spot on the floor...
That is actually a great idea.
let me know if u decide to do it...i'm still waiting, busy at work
I use kitchen rubber Mat the stuff w holes in an aluminum it helps w cold insulation but u won’t slip when wet
looks like a perfect fit to me

Hey did you ever buy your boat? How was it?
I used some deck tape from my paddle board for the slick spot.
Blake Wing that is an excellent idea!

Good video. Would this boat do well in the Indian River running from Sebastian to M.I., and the Banana River?
very eye opening thx
Good well built boat I've fish several times. For the money they are hard to beat..
Just know that they will sink, they do not have positive flotation.
If they are not positive flotation equipped that is a deal breaker..
dealbreaker for anything coastal imo. Still makes a good lake/river boat

Manti Galbraith awesome! I'll look for them.
Do you have the issue with water pooling where the channel for routing the cables?

I have been looking at these boats... and they listened on the website under specifications it says - Storage Length=22' 4''

nice boating tips thinking of buying a 2017 19 footer but how are they in rougher water most of my fishing would be on lk.michigan ...
Hey Y’all what do y’all think about a used 1988 mako 17 skiff for inland waterway for a responsible 15 year old , too much boat? Too old ?
Do you still have the boat
is this not an unsintable boat just like the boston whaler?
How has your ownership experience been - have you had any big issues with the boat or the motor?
It will drain itself if you pull the drain plug and get the boat up on plane. The water will drain out... then just plug the drain hole from the inside.

Appreciate the response man! Any idea what the markup on boats are? On Mako's site it says the proskiff 17 ft has a national price of $15,995.
Bought mine for that price and am extremely happy with it. Nothing fancy, pretty basic and easy to work on.
Does the Bimini top block access to the live well when not in use?
Alex Smith yes. Can be annoying while needed access fast.
Did you have any issues with the height of your boat with getting it into your garage?
Jonathan Blackwell it clears great. My garage is normal size.
