Hi Graeme another interesting detector talk video , the problem with many people buying detectors and not finding anything is they don't realise the obvious that if you don't walk over the object you aint going to find it .. we had a guy on one of our organised digs, he had a ace 150 walked 20 yds into the field turned right for another 20 yds walked back up to the gate and said to me I WOULDNT BOTHER WITHTHAT FIELD ITS EMPTY MATE THERES NOTHING IN IT ...Its all about patience and understanding that there might be nothing at all in the field if you dont search it youll never know ,, I was out the other day on one of my fields that have been very quite generally I didn't think ide find much as ide not found much in it before ,I had a quarter of that field yet to search, first hole a BA spearhead wow bucket lister, a realy nice decorated shoe buckle,, a hallmarked silver watch case,, a fantastic luckenbooth brooch,,, a silver anchor brooch what a surprize it all was,, my field of nothingness is now my favourite field .... I'm looking forward to hearing about your weekend digs coming up,, ide travel down for them especially if theres camping for my trailer tent,,,
Hi Graham sorry to hear about your problems but there is always somebody causes these problems.I haven't done much metal detecting yet because I have to rely on my neighbour. Because I don't have any fields near enough to get there on the scooter I have won permission. All the best from.Don Glue And all the best to your good lady.
Good talk agree peeps rather than trying to find best settings on a detector learn the settings the machine has and its charaistics once confident then maybe look at tweaking. Many moons ago when I started I found my first hammered after 4weeks of detecting and thought it was a token until someone told me it was a hammered lol took me another 2 yrs to get the buzz of finding one. Thats my story good luck Sunday ATB GL HH SS.
We should go back to paper pamphlets and putting the hours in. Spoon feeding folk with idiot guides seems to be attracting the wrong sorts into our hobby who don't have the slightest interest in history or research and just want to know the ID and value of every single piece of crap they dig. Sadly it seems to be on the increase, just like badly filled holes and scrap left lying on the surface. Rant over, have a great weekend Graeme!
Cheers mate, Some good times happening with unearthed👏👏You have a lovely dig,and fingers crossed that some good finds are unearthed this weekend.!🤞🤞See you soon Graeme.👍
Graeme, it’s always the few that spoil it for the many, you are doing the right thing and picking people you can trust. I hope next year to be able to come up for one of your open digs. COVID will have buggered off hopefully by then. I’m still learning my Deus even after 3 years, people who want results day one will never stick with this glorious hobby of ours. Look forward to the up coming announcement. Until then keep safe. Regards Ian from Ipswich
I went from x-terra 505 to a nox 800 recently. My quality of finds degraded for about 3 weeks until I got used to it, just shows how important it is to spend time to learn your machine. Even when you have much superior tech, without the knowledge/time investment you are bound to do worse. Buying better tech is essentially just raising the skill ceiling and time required to fully master your machine, but of course, it's worth it in the long run.
I'm gutted about the digs Graham for 1 some people just have 0 respect and 2 they should try the land I've got I find nothing much of interest but I don't winge I just love being out swinging my coil and 3 I was hoping to come on one of your digs to learn from others and not expect to find treasure 😂😂 but hay ho the small minority spoil it for the vast majority as always
Its such a shame Rob, Imagine after a week of putting these together and all the hard work to find people moaning and disrespecting us, not worth the hassle, however we will do a couple of weekenders next year so I will meet you on at least one of them!
@@unearthed-detecting-tv I just don't get why there like it. Honestly that would be great and I can't wait 👍it's all about finding history for me it's not the value. When you hold something that's probably hundreds of years old it gives me goosebumps thinking who held it last👍
What part of the Uk are you from? I may be heading back at the end of the year after 27 years away. My hope is to be able to join some detecting clubs .
Hi Graeme , well firstly i am so dissappointed to hear about the few that have ruined it for the majority on your digs and i dont blame you one bit for making the decision to call a halt to it ! but at least a small number of the honest and trustworthy detectors you know will still have something to look forward to , and i do dispair when i hear people are selling thier ( new ) machine beacase they rekon it's rubbish lol ! , would they sell thier new smart phone before they have learned how to use it ( i think not lol ) anyway another good talk pal ATB Rob .
Greame you have never struck me as someone who suffers fools gladly so I’m surprised you have tolerated the moaning muppets so long. Keep up the good work and happy hunting.
There are too many around, I shoot, fish and detect and it’s the same in all 3 pastimes, no respect for the land owners or people like you and your good lady who put a pile of effort in to organise a days detecting and with the fishing and shooting no understanding or respect for animals, I’ll get off my soap box now.
Sound observations and advice 👍.
Many thanks Neil

Greame you have never struck me as someone who suffers fools gladly so I’m surprised you have tolerated the moaning muppets so long. Keep up the good work and happy hunting.
Too many of them around now robert, unfortunately

It’s the “get rich quick crowd “ who expect gold in their first hole that are ruining it
Very true sir
