Interesting timing on this video as we are headed to Charlotte in two weeks to bike. Little sugar creek is on there along with several other Greenways in the area. Have not yet found a good way to connect them all together, but we should come up with about a 25 mile loop by the time it’s all said and done with safe connectors. Thanks for the preview of what we get to enjoy.
Yes! I’m based out of Greenville, South Carolina and I’ve made the trip to Charlotte several times over the past three years or so. Lots of good trails to enjoy there.
I just moved here and I love the Greenway. But I haven't lived here long enough to see what they are working on yet. I am looking forward to seeing it when it is done.
There are multiple trails in and around Charlotte. I’m based out of Greenville SC, and I’ve made the trip to Charlotte on many weekends to explore the various trails there.
@@joyfultrails Cool. I’m several hours west of Charlotte, and the roads area that I live in is surrounded by great places to ride various types of bikes, but they are all an hour away! Although one of my riding buddies has just started building a house in an area about 10 minutes away that is surrounded by miles & miles of gravel roads. We rode 17 miles on Saturday morning, while only seeing less than a handful of cars. There were a solid 5-6 handfuls of dogs, all just the common country guard dogs. None of them were aggressive enough to even come out into the road.
@@mountainsnmoore256 Nice. I’ve not been chased by a dog in recent years, although there were a couple that seemed threatening. I did get chased when I rode my bike to school as a kid and I guess that left a mark in my psyche. Anyway, I bought a “dog horn” off the Internet. It’s supposed to emit a sound that causes a dog to stop in his or her tracks. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, so I have no idea if it works! As for trails… I live just a few steps away from a trail that’s about 22 miles in total length right now and soon to be expanding. But I get bored with it! That’s why I’m constantly driving to other places and riding trails in other cities on the weekends. I guess I just like the exploration part of it.
Happy that I stumbled upon your site. There aren't many extended paved trails in the Fort Mill, SC area so I go to CLT and ride the Greenway. Great video's and now I'm a subscriber, I need a little joy in my bike rides 👊 The newly completed Brandywine to Tyvola extension which is just 1.5 miles, completes the Southern route to Pineville, NC. It's like an E-Ride at Disney World!
Awesome! Good to have you onboard… And I look forward to riding the COMPLETE Little Sugar Creek Greenway one day… there are so many nice trails in the Charlotte area. I hope to get around to all of them eventually.
Another great video Scott. You are going to make a lot of states up their game when it comes to making their trails worthy to ride on. Keep up the good work.
This trail is less than 10 miles from my home. Was not aware that all these trails and parks connected. Spent the day today riding all of it. Great job on the video and thanks for inspiring me to get there today!
I rode this for the first time a couple days ago. Lived in the area for 24 years, but had no idea that this trail ran all the way from Pineville past uptown. BTW, they built a connector (or partial connector) from the 4 Mile Creek greenway (Ballantyne to Pineville). It is only partial, so you have ride a half mile or so near Carolina Place mall. It is not marked though, so plan that part on your GPS. @joyfultrails I just found your channel. What other 5 star trails did you find?
I’ll have to make a return visit and check out the improvements/additions! Some other 5 star ratings include the Virginia Creeper Trail in Abington, VA and some trails in the Columbia, SC area.
Really enjoyed the video. I rode this trail several years ago, but it has evolved a lot since then, and continues to evolve. We're headed down to my sister-in-law's, in Charlotte, for Thanksgiving, and I'm looking to ride this with my son. I will say that the online resources make it hard for me to decipher where, in the process of development, that this trail is, in it's total development. How many miles of trail where you able to ride when you were there?
I know what you mean when you say it's sort of hard to figure out. I'm not sure how many miles it was because I don't keep track of that - I'm usually stopping and starting a lot, and going back over the same ground multiple times for video shots! - but my understanding is that you can now start a little north of Elizabeth Park, ride south past Freedom Park, keep going to Marsh Park and the James Polk Presidential site at Pineville, and now go all the way to the NC/SC state line! I've not been on the new section yet, but apparently you can start in downtown Charlotte and ride the Little Sugar Creek Greenway all the way to South Carolina now.
It certainly looks like that is the plan. GoogleMaps makes it look like it's finished. However, in looking at GoogleStreet view images, I'm not sure there aren't areas still under contruction. Guess we'll plan to start around Eliabeth Park and see how far south we can go!
I can't believe it. You actually gave 5 stars! Wow haha. Just put this trail on my bucket list. Thanks for another great video. BTW, I remember going to Heritage USA many times as a kid. That "mall" with a sky ceiling, the unfinished hotel, and the campground (which is where we stayed). How long is the trail?
Funny...after I left Dragon Buffet, I decided on a whim to go to the old Heritage USA site and just drive around. It was surreal. Much of it is gone now, but several things remain, including the old "barn auditorium" where I saw the Imperials, Servant and Mylon & Broken Heart give concerts. Heck, my brothers and I even played a concert in one of the smaller venues there one time. Hey, I know that things got out of control, and there were definitely fundraising irregularities...but that place was pretty cool back in the day. Bakker may be half crazy...but maybe you have to be half-crazy to have the vision for a place like that. As of now, the trail just keeps going, I think, all the way to the NC-SC state line. It actually connects to the section I did in another video on the Polk presidential site and Marsh Park. So it's as long as you want to make it!
@@georgeservian9383 Thanks! Well… I think that’s constantly changing. Because they do work on some sections and create detours … and then they end up connecting it to other sections that go further south… So I think it’s a work in progress!
I like your videos, very informative, and nice humor, and top notch editing and music, one request, have you thought of filming in 60fps to reduce judder on pans?
I’ll have to look into that. I actually use 4 cameras - an iPhone, a GoPro, a Pocket2 and an Insta360 now. I think most of them are set to 4K/24, but I’d have to check.
It is a Townie Men's 7D Step-Over. Got it at a Trek bike shop in Greenville, SC. I have really enjoyed it. It's not built for speed...but neither am I! I like to stop and smell the roses...or, in my case, shoot video. But it really is a solid, well-built bike. 7 speed.
@joyfultrails hey I love that area. The homes are absolutely stunning. I have to watch myself driving through because I just want to look at all the houses. Bless their hearts.
We go on Little Sugar Creek all the time. I love that you loved it! Come back any time!
I've been on the urban section twice and the James Polk section twice. Love it! It has a little bit of everything. Thanks for watching.

You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Lived here in the area for decades now and love the trail. Thank you for the five stars. Charlotte has come a long way👍
It really is a great trail with a lot of variety. 🙂
I did this trail over the summer. It is fantastic. I started near the SC border. The trail is in development to connect to a SC trail.
I need to go back and check out the new section!

Google XCLT or Little Sugar Creek Greenway, welcome to CLT
once again love your video. Like your commintary and history.. your pastorial talking, filming makes a great way to start a day.
we just moved to NC - thank you!
You're welcome. And enjoy the trail!
We've never been to Charlotte, strangely enough. May have to add to the long weekend destination list. Thanks for sharing!

I figured you would be well acquainted with this one!

The strugglebus residents of the Booty loop. 😂
