    Oh oh! I can relate to the whole 3 different Dr's telling you different things. I had 3 Dr's tell me I couldn't have children. Thank goodness I found my Dr now, who helped me figure out my ovulation cycle, and that was the key for me, thankfully. But years of turmoil thinking I couldn't, having a miscarriage, and how it twisted me up inside cause I wanted a family so badly. Now, onto baby number 3 😂 all boys, too! I do want a girl, but I have to let go of that dream cause it's probably not gonna happen. I've learned, though, that I should definitely enjoy and focus on what I do have. Even the things most of us overlook: a roof over my family's heads, food in the home, power, running water. If you have any of these things, you're richer than you think.
    I just love you guys. Keep doin'' what you're doin'' cause it's gold. ❤❤

    Every episode is great, but this one particularly resonated with me, from the therapy to the motivation to get back in shape after health issues, to the struggle to become a mom again, in my case, having endometriosis. I agree 2023 was the worse and best year ever, and I'm so glad you are both still here sharing the journey, with all the high and lows. With all other people on this platform trying so hard to sugar coat life, making it as if the highs are the only thing worth showing, the lows are as important acknowledging since they shape us the most IMO. Hope this year will be so successful business wise and personally for you both ❤

    Speak your truth Edwina! My sister in law also had a hysterectomy and the judgement from the family was wild!!! I married into the family so I had to watch my mouth but I forced my husband to tell his mother to stop calling the entire family to let them know how sad she was because her oldest daughter would never know what it feels like to be a mom!! I was like.. lady!!!! STOP!! Not every woman wants to be a mom.. motherhood is not for all women! So live your life Edwina! I’m so happy you are happy AND healthy!!

    My heart goes out to you both for the hell you’ve been dealing with!
    Edwina I’m so proud of you for facing the surgery and people’s expectations of you, it’s great to see you bloom in a season of growth and healing.
    Shana, you’re a warrior getting back up after every failed implantation, miscarriage and loss. It only takes one embryo and I hope this is your miracle, but if it’s not meant to be, I wish you all the strength in acceptance of your life. All my fingers and toes are crossed for you.
    I’ve had a rough couple of years too, with my hubby losing both his parents (one to suicide). Then we started IVF and had a successful transfer in September. Now our 20 week scan showed an abnormality with the heart and a clubbed foot. So I’m seeing a specialist for a more detailed scan on the 30th Jan. Fingers crossed everything will be ok, but if not, we will keep trying to start our family.
    We are all so much stronger than we know! Love you both. ❤❤❤

  • @csmtcqueen
    @csmtcqueen 9 месяцев назад +1

    Another thing I wanted to say Edwina which is why your discussion of fibroids is SO important. It is not TMI, it is necessary. I suffered in silence also because although fibroids are quite common among Black women, we do not discuss it among our family or friends. I found very little public health care education/discussion on the subject. I felt alone and embarrassed at the time (in 2015). And I vowed after that I would no longer be silent, so I discussed it with family members to let them know, hey are you going through this/ these are your medical options/ no, heavy bleeding is not normal/no, eating vegetables will not cure fibroids (lots of myths out there!). And I am so glad you had Shana to encourage you to seek medical treatment, because so many women don't.

    • @ThriftersAnonymous
      @ThriftersAnonymous  9 месяцев назад +1

      You are so right. Another reason for my delayed steps on taking this journey for removal. Ugh very limited information indeed and embarrassment. Thank you for sharing your story and the myths. So many good points you mentioned that I forgot to address. I so agree on talking about with your family and sharing how you really feel each day with others versus suffering in silence. I delayed that part too….and just gave up. Thank goodness Shana kept sending me success stories of chocolate women going through successful surgeries. Glad this was not TMI.- I was worried. I hope our stories will help others. Thank you so much for stopping by. 😘😘❤️❤️

I have been to soo many therapists and psychiatrists etc and they NEVER give you feedback! It’s so terrible. Shana, please just get your own account and do this!! You need it now so please don’t put it off until Edwina is done!! You so deserve it!! We all do damn it!! There is a book called The Secret and a movie as well and it is absolutely LIFE CHANGING!!! What is cameo? This was a FABULOUS AWESOME twinsie talk!!!!! What is this VIP email list?? I know this is so long but I just have to say. Edwina I feel sooooooo bad for you that you went through all of that!! It’s absolutely RIDICULOUS!! I want to just scream!! I’m so pissed the doctors wouldn’t do surgery!! I love you both and you are always in my prayers.

      Thank you for connecting with us on this episode. Thanks for the compliments and encouragement. Yes therapy is priceless indeed. And the the surgery- so happy I finally got it done. But the aftermath….I still cannot believe they did not want to give me pain meds afterwards.But I survived! And the worst is behind me. But yes the secret is out motto- gratitude for everything and finding ways to help others.

    Shana, ask your Daddy if he would take care of his heart or kidneys if they had issues? Well, our brains are an organ, too-and the most complex of all. AND our brains control at least some of the rest of us! Also, I look forward to Fridays especially because of you and Edwina!

      Thanks for stopping by. Wow congratulations! That’s amazing. You did that! Not bashing Ozempic but addressing people who are assuming how I got back in shape. Ymany think I had surgery or use drugs as assistance but happy to report I was able to do it all naturally. Your A1C is AMAZING!! Great job. That’s a big deal!!! Your next 20-25 lbs will be gone before you know it with your discipline and hard work. Please email us regarding your self nomination for This Is Will I Am. Please send is your story, videos, pictures, goals, Las Vegas trips dates etc via email so we can review/consider. 😘😘ThrowItInTheCartLV@gmail.com

      As a woman who has had fertility issues and reached age 49.5 without a child, please understand (and I speak from personal experience) that it DOESN’T HELP when people point out the 1/1000000 older woman who was able to get pregnant and carry the pregnancy to a healthy, full-term baby. The statistics aren’t on our side. We all know that there’s the rare woman who has been so fortunate, but we know it’s highly unlikely to happen for us. It feels like people are rubbing salt in our wounds when they point out these rare cases.
