I loved the character of Ruby and then when Kelly’s had Mike running the place Sonny’s dad that was cool... yes I just love of all the places to spend time in Port Charles. I just loved Ruby at Kelly’s, the type of place I’d hang out...
Emily Diana yes it is a shame and in 2007 the writers killed off Emily gh that was sad at for gh fans also in 2016 the new writers and products killed of nikoles and so any more before
angela morales Nicholas is back but different actor playing him and what I, just saw is that Natalia Livingston would love to bring back Emily from. Being dead I know she came back as Emily when Nicholas kept seeing Emily, because of his brain tumor and when he thought Rebeca was Emily and it. Would be nice if we found out Emily never died and that Helena kept her, prisoner and had faked Emily’s death because she did that to Jake, Jason. And many others I wouldn’t be surprised if she did that and plus we, know no one truly dies on a Soap Opera lol 😂.
I always wondered why the writers messed it up and if that’s why JJ left in 1999, and maybe since he could not come back they had to re-cast his part... that’s the way they decided to have Lucky and Elizabeth story change direction. they basically made Lucky just like his dad that’s why he gets called a deadbeat father, because he’s not around as much. He became an addict. there’s so many better ways they could have continued the storyline, so many other couples on soaps have gone the distance... we had Carly and Sonny, who had enough break ups and make ups ,Sam and Jason....
I agree. They were so sweet and innocent, because of JJ being a Christian, and bringing that influence into the writing. Same with Karen and Jagger. They should have been a forever couple, and Karen should have never cheated on him, or died. They loved each other too much, and what followed was ridiculous and inconsistent. To me, the show went south after Wendy Riche left. Riche knew how to write good and interesting stories that had a good flow to them, and kept characters true to what they really would have done, rather than always trying to draw in more viewers by going for soap opera shock value constantly. Also, when Jagger returned on GH Nightshift, he had a son (not from Karen) named Stone. Well, this is also inconsistent. Jagger always called Stone by his actual name, Mike. So, if Jagger had a son named after Stone, he’d be called Mike. Plus, no reference was even made to the fact that the Little Boy’s name was even Mike. It wasn’t. Instead, he was just called Stone. Stone was a nickname that Sonny and Robin gave Mike, but Jagger never used it. Plus, Sonny is the one who came up with the nickname for Mike, but Sonny and Jagger always remained enemies, so why would Jagger name his son that?! So stupid! And not that I am a complete Riche cheerleader. Obviously, as a Catholic, I find the sex in soaps very sinful. However, I am saying that Riche overall was a good writer and storyteller. Bob Guza is a total lightweight in comparison. He also obviously never did his homework regarding what came before with Riche, or maybe he just simply took a different approach, and didn’t care.
Guza was the head writer here. I do agree with what you said about Riche; she really was amazing. I do however think that 1998/1999 when Guza began his second stint as HW (first one was in 96’), the show started to go downhill. Riche’s attention was divided between this show and Port Charles, so things like the glorification of Sonny/Carly/Jason at the expense of characters like Tony and AJ came as a result. Between that and other things like the dysfunction between Luke and Laura, the show was becoming needlessly more dark and mean-spirited. I think the show did recover a bit in 2000 and maintained its quality through early 2001. When JFP and Megan McTavish came to the show, they ended up doing a bunch of stuff that didn’t mesh with the show (Ex: Angel Boris) and filling it with tons of campy shock value. I do however like how her era of GH had more layers to it than the mob though (though that also did amp up during her tenure; along with S&C’s presence within the show). When Guza returned in 02’ with Charles Pratt Jr. they completely took its life away; that was when the show truly stopped caring about its old fans and put the mob at the center Jr the show. It got great again in 2012 and was pretty good throughout 2014/2015. After that it has been OK.
I still remember that scene of Lucky meeting Ruby for the first time. It was so cute
Oh my God I love Sonny and Luke’s relationship, this is why General Hospital is such great writing... the emotional scenes were done so well..
22 yrs later and I still cry about this episode

I love how Luke calls Lucky "Cowboy"
Such great acting. TG, GF, JZ, JJ & BH. And damn it reminds me of when I actually liked Sonny.

Elizabeth and Lucky could/should have been a 'stay in each others' lives forever' couple. What a shame the writers messed that up so badly. Ugh!
