- I wanted to check we have all the interior parts and also to check the basic fit of the carpets. They will come back out as we have some small jobs to do before the final fit of the interior. It‘s a good idea to lay out all the carpets on a flat surface so the creases and folds come out naturally.
Nice video Dave I bet it was nice to see a complete one especially in the same colour
Alex, It was good to see how it is put together in the car as it‘s not a job I have ever done on this model. Hopefully it will go well 🤔 Cheers Dave
that interior is going to be BEAUTIFUL!,,,,,,,,,, Leave it to Dave to come up with a way to fit a Round Knob into a Square Hole!
Thank you very much i think we have the right colour combo and the complete wood dash will really set it all off, 3D printing the bungs is the way to go. Cheers Dave
Love the interior !! Thanks for the info on primer paint for my XK 150 differential.
Ted, It is very light but I just think there two colours pop together, Your welcome I hope it works for you. Cheers Dave
Dave It sure looks good, there is nothing like a new interior to give it that zing. regards Doug.
Doug, I just want to lay it out to see how well it fits and looks. It‘s a bit lighter than I thought but I love the colour combo. Cheers Dave
Such good work Dave.
Pete, Thanks very much it‘s taken a while but were getting there! Cheers Dave
Christmas 🎄 in July! Looks awesome Dave great fun ahead. Cheers 🍻 john
John, Well it is winter in Australia 🤣😂 But not Europe 🤔 I just wanted to get all the bits & bobs in one shot plus the couriers are charging a small fortune
and they don‘t give a shit about the condition of your package. Let alone the taxes 🤫 to import from the UK 😉 Cheers Dave
Looks great Dave love the light beige and maroon. Late XK150 hinges have springs built in, so that other car was likely converted.
Richard, Thanks very much I really like the colour combo. I was a bit surprised when a saw a 58 model with the helper springs 🤔 Cheers Dave
I checked and the vin number for the car was after the change to the support system in April 59. The larger rear lights were Oct 59. The car was built between these dates.
Martin, I had no idea there was a hinge system with a spring helper or I would have fitted it instead of the rams 🤔You learn something every day 🤣😂 Cheers Dave
Stunning looking car Dave!
My mate restored an XK and after 2 Healeys and a few Triumphs he's on with an e type, it shocked me how much the interior was, in my eye..mad money. Are we getting ripped off on an epic scale or am I totally out of touch, even my mini stuff makes me shake my head in disbelief!
Love the work you do on your cars and your mate's XK is lovely too.
Your right you have to pay a premium on some marques but for the same money you could buy a small new car! Cheers Dave
Hi Dave . You're quite correct about the "e"type boot trim and l loved that man with one leg joke 🤣 wonder if they sent the wrong plugs i.e mk 2 jacking points ? It does look rather lignt but l think thats because the seats etc have yet to befitted. Thanks Dave
John, Sir William knew a thing or two about sales 😉I mentioned to Martin with the XK 150 DHC while we were having a pub lunch about the problem with common senses is it‘s not very common 🤣😂 and Martin & Jonathan cracked up. I agree once the seats go in it will tone it down a bit 🤔 Cheers Dave
Coming along great, how about fencing pole plugs from diy stores they have square ones
Thanks, I want to make a system that doesn't involve me struggling with the plugs. I don‘t understand why they sell parts not fit for purpose 🤔 Cheers Dave
You must be itching to finish her Dave - the interior trim/colour looks perfect for that shade of maroon... Beautiful vehicle - seeing the nice example in the uk must have spurred you on...
What's left to do, you're mechanically complete now and screen in after trim? Waiting for Austrian autumn?
Good luck - here about to build the garage rest of reno 90% complete then all I need is an xk150! No bargains here in Aus tho' no winter salt no uk corrosion!
All the best
Dave N
Dave, I really want to get it finished but there are a few electrical jobs to get done before we can crack on, We also have family over for a few weeks so I‘m limited to
what I can do and Amir is on his days off so I will do a few bits & boobs on the Citroen as we don‘t need two people 😉 We will be doing the same as you this year
with the lower wooden garage as I need to get it insulated before winter it all takes time and money doesn't it!🤔I Think the classic car market will go down over the
next few years as money gets tight and the cost of living goes up along with interest rates so it will be a good time to buy a project. Cheers Dave
Yes even if you put in plenty of your own labour but materials have only gone up up up!
You're right as there is more stock but nothing under 100K ausd
maybe square slugs out of white oak for the jack pockets?
Doug, A friend of mine is going to 3D print bungs for me 😉👍 Cheers Dave
Ok, I watched another video on a carpet install and they fixed the carpet so you could not flip it back to get to the jack point from the inside to use the jack. I had a 120 and the carpet wasn't fixed so you could access the floor /cover/plug. When I pointed this out they said that was the way it was in the parts /repair manual, and it was correct to secure the carpet so it couldn't flip back for access. So how is this done. I just picked up a 61' XK150DHC and can't get the carpet laid back to access the jack plug/cover. What is a proper carpet installation? How do I need to change it?
😍😍😍😍
Jonathan, Thanks, Did you see my comment on your channel 🤔 Cheers Dave
@@ClassicCarCave - yes, thank you. Already updated the name!! Waiting to go viral!
What about the jack point bungs for a Mk2 it looks closer than that.
John, I will take a look, But there is no better test than putting a round peg in a square hole 🤣😂 Cheers Dave
Dave, whatsapp me the diemsnions of the box section bung you need. We have TPU 3D Print material here at work and August seems to be a slow month for me so I can squeeze that in for you if youd like ;) All the best, Luis
Luis, Thanks very much is there any chance you will pop over to me some time as I have another item I want to get 3D printed 🤔 Cheers Dave
OK, This is the ANTI 'BASICALLY' PARTY , I am trying to get my fellow RUclipsrs to stop using the word basically, can you do it ?, instead of using that over rated word just tell it like it is and show the world you are intelligent and do have a grasp of English grammar.
Gary, It‘s only an expression 🤔Sadly this all you got from the video 😏 Cheers Dave
Mocap is a UK company that stock plugs for square tubes. Made from low density polyethylene. They may have something that would suit the shape and size you’re after. There maybe an Austrian company that does a similar product. Search also on Google for square tube inserts and see if that helps.
Thanks I will take a look and search the internet but it looks like my friend Luis will come to the rescue 😉 if you read his comment. Cheers Dave
