I can't pinpoint it but the seed was planted near Plymouth Rock with the Puritan work ethic then evolved into the prosperity gospel. I think kings of old knew ppl wanted someone to halt due to envy of their excess. Billionaires act the same. Ppl project their fantasies of absurd wealth onto them then feel so emotional about it that they defend the very ppl taking food off their plate.
Loved your statement that you have more in common with a homeless person than a billionaire. A relative always complained that the poor were taking his hard earned money away through taxes, not asking was I paid for what I earned - or did my company heads keep part of what I earned for their own benefit? What you get paid isn’t necessarily what you earned. It’s just what someone decided they would give you from what you earned.
CEOs boggle my brains! I look at many businesses and think would they want their kid to be an entry level employee at their business? Would they be happy with their kid being treated like that? Of course the answer is their child is exceptional and would never be in that position. They won't have to worry about food, housing, job insecurity or any of the other problems we peasants do. Of course their child isn't going to experience climate change either.
Yet maga actually believes that these billionaires are just like them and that somebody like trump is going to take care of them because he says so. Willful ignorance was trump's key to the White House.
Just found you. You are so on the money! Hi from Australia 🇦🇺. We are watching ,as is the world. I love that you have validated going "no contact" with people that abuse you. Abuse is how You see it and not how those that are treating you badly see it. Even family.
"Ethical" capitalism is a fantasy. If corporations are people, they should be regulated the way real human people are. Laws provide for consequences to the harm humans do to other humans. That's physical, financial, and other kinds of harm. Corporations need to be governed by laws, and face consequences for all the harm they cause.
So I know you've previously recommended books on alternative economic systems like the gift economy and matriarchal systems but can you pls delve into that more? If this is all going to crash what do we rebuild into? How can we best transition into a more equitable society? What pitfalls are there to watch out for? It won't happen overnight and I'm scared what it will take to get out of capitalism (especially as capitalism seemed to be how ppl escaped feudalism) but what can be done small scale then grown?
Personally I do think that capitalism is slightly more resilient to corruption and bad faith leadership than many forms of socialism. I also don't think that all forms of capitalism are equally cruel. It doesn't seem to me as though markets can reliably self regulate before calamity. It would seem to me that capitalism is unusual amongst ideologies in that it assumes that it can function without integrity. Obviously that can't be so. I would certainly choose Cuba above North Korea or Sweden above the US.
@myurbangarden7695 I agree that living at this population density makes morality difficult. Tribal level is more realistic. When everyone knows everyone directly, it's more difficult to exploit others. But realistically speaking, exploiting others has existed since we stopped being hunter gatherers.
See, we could sit down and write up a playbook and show how any system COULD work. On paper it works. But then you put it in the real world and find it doesn't work like a repair manual for your car. There will always be people who will be in a position to take advantage of the system and a moral view that allows them to do that. There's a Few ethical billionaires. I don't think J.K. Rowling and Taylor Swift should be considered "unEthical"
I’d argue with the work Rowling has done against marginalized groups- protesting against people’s rights, creating paranoia that endangers others, and even writing essays dismissing scientific evidence and evidence based practices, makes her FAR from “ethical”. She has great wealth and uses it to target minorities, in the name of “protecting women” when all her work has done is make it more dangerous for both trans people and women alike.
@RandonPersom542 you are talking about personal opinion there. I don't think she is deliberately taking advantage of people. Her riches came from unexpected popularity of her writings. Giving her opinion on topics is a right. Trying to force everyone else to accept said opinion isn't.
the true nature of power is an exercise in game theory. To really understand much about what is going on, is to at least be incredibly capable in strategy. To so much as begin at a realistic method, have Calculus, Physics, Fuzzy Logic, and Deep learning as pre-requisites. we have to develop a universal framework that can deal with all the things. its time to stop trailing the game, and lead it. I am happy to discuss how an effective organization would be made. Until you are materially secure, stop playing like you are all that free. The conclusion though, is community automation to address community overhead. build up from that human community, which yes, also has a widespread empathy. thats just being aware and attuned to your environment. I'm an automation engineer, it is very low cost. it just to work for you, instead of against you. then you can be self sufficient, readily. I think its going to come from Africa, honestly. that real human revival.
So do you repurpose your tik tok content for the youtube? I want to get on youtube but I dont have the bandwidth to do any other video content creation.
We really did transfer divine right to rule from kings over to CEO billionaires…

"exploitation"
There's sufficiency for everyone's need, but insufficient for even a few's greed..
"Lack of morals"...

The requirement that a corporation profit shareholders continually is anathema to ethical behavior.

They love nepotism promotions.
So well put.

i had to argue with some commentor the other day that tried to say people just need to "work hard".... and called me clueless that i disagreed. smh
I too had a naive libertarian phase. It was cute.

Yeah we're toast.
The free market is not really free.
😂 I see the "announce the flounce" now.

💯
Is ethical anything a pipe dream? We are humans.
In micro populations...

„Humankind“ by Rutger Bregman: Fun to read and based on scientific evidence. Extremely short it’s about if humans are „good“ or „evil“.
Billionaire said no

We really need you to do more videos. You say everything I think, but can never really articulate in speech. Thank you
Thank you! That is so kind of you to say. I'm always shocked folks like hearing me ramble but I'm grateful for the positive feedback.
