Hi. I made this soup Last night. I added upton chorizo, substituted yellow split peas, used vegetable broth , and used 2 teaspoons of smoked alder sea salt. It came out more like a porridge than a soup, so I added a couple more cups of water to thin it out. It was really good. Everyone ate two bowls and there is still plenty for lunch. Thank You for posting this recipe. I would love to see more pressure cooker recipes if you have them. Thanks again.

@veganday, it's so nice to hear when our fans make our recipes! The beauty of this soup (and soups in general, now that I think about it), is that you have the freedom to explore. The chorizo should add some nice kick, too. We've got some more pressure cooker recipes on the way, so stay tuned!
Great. Now I want some porridge.

@Kitty Koots, actually our pressure cooker and our food processor (even the hand blender that appears in some of our episodes) are from Cuisinart. We have the CPC-600, but there might be newer models out now. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Our cats Milo and Olivia say hi!

@ProvokeRadiance, an excellent question! The oil is added when using the pressure cooker to prevent foaming. If you make it on the stovetop, you can omit the oil. :)

@silviaesilvia, Yes, Milo does have a sister! You can see her at the very end of this episode--her name is Olivia. (If you listen carefully, you can also hear her meowing in the last shot where we both have the soup.)
Good idea with the carrots and chickpeas--that should be delicious! Using a pressure cooker is a huge time-saver as well, if you have one.
