Am I the only one who interpreted this song as a plea to not give up on a relationship kind of love and to find joy in the little things with your partner and offer up your comfort at the end of the day as the purest form of love? I went through a really rough breakup when I discovered this album and this single song on the whole album was the most gut wrenching of all because of how I interpreted it. Doesn’t hurt as much thank goodness.. but it felt like a sucker punch to the heart to hear this then.
That’s exactly why this song is so special because it’s very versatile. The meaning of this song in general is about returning to a place of love and hope. So whatever it is you’re going through in life, even though it can be very messy and chaotic, don’t forget that you can always go back to find love, whatver that may be to you, like it could mean friendship, family or your own self. It’s not just only tied into a one type of thing, it can be interpreted into whatever fits your own narrative. It’s such a rare gem, if I must say. I love her so much. Went to her concert in SF and it was truly a life changing moment. ☺️
It's been a tough year for everyone all over the world. Here in Australia we've also had it tough with bushfires and floods. I was also hit hard with the loss of my job in the middle of it all. This song has really become my anthem in the midst of such trying times. It's what I needed, along with the strength that God provides me to get through it all.
