    Well my cruise on Silver Spirit was the best ever. The butler was nice, the food exquisit , the ambience fantastic and there were orchids everywhere. And only about 600 passengers on board and no anklebiters. This cruiseline is the best and I would not consider any other.

    It is the difference that counts, for what it is worth. We have recently returned from a Darwin ( Australia) to Cairns ( far North Queensland) cruise on a 100 passenger capacity ship, which was lovely. However, having experienced two Silversea cruises ( BA to Barbados and the Antarctic Expedition) what is obvious is the polish and variety in the dining rooms, the space available in the amenities in the suites and the size of the ship, when things turn slightly rougher than wished for. Their current voyages program looks fabulous and we are longing for their Singapore to Athens journey. It is on our bucket list and unless a Silversea voyage is not on yours, it simply is not a bucket list!

    We went on Silversea Spirit before refit - lacking. Dark lounge areas and cabin typically problem little space at the end of bed. We went on Silversea at its conception sample around Britain and then around the Far East and many other destinations cruises with them but the experience on the Spirit put us off sailing with them again. Have gone back to our favourite now Seabourn, followed by Cunard Grill Suite and Celebrity Suites

    One thing that's really nice is being able to get a good meal outside and not be stopped in the basement in a dining room where you can't see like it used to be.

    Really great Ep., Rich & Helen. Holly & I just finished watching- and wow- Indochine & the Arts Café especially- I could see myself there quite often.
    Listening to Jazz & having nibbles as well- I'm there!
    There wasn't a single venue (including Suite breakfast) in which I would not want to experience. Thanks for such a great episode- especially filmed with such a buttery outer focal area.. made the center really pop!

    TYVM! This is the perfect place for my #1 Visit With Us question. Food?
    ( I had given up on my previous #1 question - _Seabourne or Silversea?_ - prior to listening to your answer, ironically, with Emma. Does it really matter which is 95/100 and which is 97/100? I would enjoy either; don't stress, be happy.)
    *So what is your opinion of ocean (or river) dining?* Both relative to each other and relative to land. Are there "Michelin-star" level restaurants at sea? It's not a deal-breaker if there are not, but if they are, I would prioritize them.
    The problem is that every cruise line - from Carnival/Costa to Oceania/Seabourne/Silversea - talks about their "great" food. Nobody advertises "if RyamAir had economy food, this is what they would serve" It's not that it is bad - I think Guy's Burgers on Carnival has an amazingly high enjoyment/cost-to-Carnival ratio. But I do think "some are more equal than others" and I trust your reviews far more than the "why would you pay extra for specialty dining?" crowd.
    Perhaps companies are saying it more or perhaps I am just noticing it more, but I am seeing "Michelin quality food" mentioned. At least for 1-star, this is something I can relate to. I'm sure there are exaggerations - some huge, some normal marketing - and hope there are some that deliver that level. It seems like cruise lines are a decade or two behind Vegas, but catching up fast, in getting celebrity chefs or at least chef's name. E.g. Pépin, Keller, Shaq :-) "cruise celebrity chef" search gets over a dozen names. But I am not completely convinced that is much of a guarantee.
    Who would you cruise with for food? Silversea or Seabourne or Oceania or Azamara or ...? If you were doing a top-ten video using past clips, which lines/restaurants would be on it?
    P.S.: I thought Ocerania's "we spend the most money per passenger on food of any cruise line" was right out of marketing class, objective instead of less credible subjective "we're great"
    P.P.S.: Azamara in their latest CLIA RUclips mentioned that 64% of returning guests mentioned fine dining as a decision driver so I am not the only one who cares about food.
    P.P.P.S.: Did Helen the Souffle Expert complain about the quality or just the quantity?

    • @visitwithus
      @visitwithus  3 года назад +1

      Haha! So many questions! Where do I start? Well, if I was doing a top ten it would be extremely difficult to separate the top 5. In there would definitely be Azamara, Silversea, Seabourn, Celebrity. More and more are tying in michelin star chefs but that wouldn't necessarily mean the food is prepared to that standard - I'd say that many would be menus 'designed by' or 'inspired by' and therein lies the difference. Still gorgeous nosh though. We haven't tried Oceania yet but we hope the quality lives up to the hype. I've been told it does. Helen's souffle tasted delicious, but it hadn't risen like others we've enjoyed, so it wasn't as 'light', if that makes sense. It was only a small complaint and you have to have balance, right? :)

    Every time we go on a cruise I always get a room the furthest thing from the dining room and then I never take an elevator. So far haven't gained. Another place you could hardly get into on some ships is a beauty parlor or the spa treatments.
