Great video, and to see the mounds in practice, can i ask roughly what time of month you plant the squash and beans direct? Its not common here to plant squash direct, we get our last frost around mid may and first late oct/early nov..do you think thats enough time? thank you and keep up the good works
it's my second year growing corn in the same soil and the corn plants are small and yellow compared to the same seed stock growing in new ground beside it. what is the natural way to maintain the fertility of a patch of soil?
Pretty much every agricultural community in the world used waste (human or animal) in their gardens to restore fertility. We tend to compost it now to kill off any human pathogens but the plants don't care about entertoxic e coli and will respond to the right amount of manure added to the growing media with vigorous growth.
Excellent question! Yes it definitely does! Some beans are very vigorous and can pull down smaller corn stalks. Also, some squash get a little carried away and need to be monitored to make sure they don't do the same thing.
This is such a popularly described technique but it is nice to see the method you use to grow it, very methodical and specific. Love the video!!
Planting my beans today!

That's about when our first/last frost happens. We only had one instance where the beans didn't all mature in time.
Thanks for watching! We have other videos that talk about the timing of our plantings. Check out our channel for more videos.

We add compost and new fish to the mounds every year.
@@Ukwakhwa actually inside the mound? I'd love to see a video of how that works if you get a chance! Thanks for the info
@@vikkicaldwell4590 yes, inside the mound. Have you watched our video on making three sisters mounds? We describe the process in there.
