I do love this riff and always have ever since I first heard the song a life time ago.
It is one of the best metal riffs ever written!!
I just started this video ...challenging myself on faster stuff and alternate picking ..u are a great teacher
He Kevin, love to know how you get on over the weeks.
@@GuitarMates in sure will keep u posted
This was actually relatively pain-less... I watched what fret you started on and was able to just ear it out easily. I never tried before because I always assumed it was really difficult. Thanks...
Hi Jenraider72 glad you enjoyed the lesson, thanks for the feedback.
What you said about sweep picking was true. When this was written, sweeping wasn't really used too much. A few players like Becker had used it but it wasn't what it is now. Now it's so boringly ubiquitous. It's no longer interesting. Anyway, good lesson.
Absolutely love your videos and style of teaching!! So awesome. Keep it up❤️
awesome,

How do you play the B flat 5?
I couldn’t really tell by the camera angle
1st finger 6th fret Low E string 3rd finger 8th fret A string. Hope that helps
@@GuitarMates thanks a ton, not many creators respond like you do, keep up the great work

4:07 That doesn't look like the 5th fret.
slip of the tounge sometime I get lost in the commentary as I am talking. Hope you enjoyed and I appreciate the sub. Thanks for that.
@@GuitarMates no problem man, just keep an eye on that cause with video its easy to get confused. I subscribed because you covered the song Achilles last stand!
This should all be downpicked
Those triplet sections are hard to downpick.
Actually Glenn Tipton alternate picks this song.
There's no strict rule that it ''should'' be down picked. Alternate is easier, and better for the wrist.
Wrong
I down pick this riff because it sounds right to me when i try do it alt picking it sound so messy how you get it to sound that clean is amazing 😂good job
Hi Reece, the method i use seemed natural to me and I noticed that is the way that Ritchie Faulkner plays it. Very hard to see what Glen does as his fingers and hands hardly ever seem to move !!!
@@GuitarMates have you tried this riff tuned half step down sounds awsome
@@reecetony7096 I will take your word for it Reece. With a locking trem system on the guitar with my busy teaching schedule the last thing I have time for is tuning down a half tone. Did it once and promised myself I would never do it again!!
