    The song was the title track of the 1990 album Painkiller.
    Written by Rob Halford, Glen Tipton & KK Downing.
    he song was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance during the 33rd Grammy Awards (1991), the second year the award was presented.

    This was actually relatively pain-less... I watched what fret you started on and was able to just ear it out easily. I never tried before because I always assumed it was really difficult. Thanks...

    What you said about sweep picking was true. When this was written, sweeping wasn't really used too much. A few players like Becker had used it but it wasn't what it is now. Now it's so boringly ubiquitous. It's no longer interesting. Anyway, good lesson.

    How do you play the B flat 5?
    I couldn’t really tell by the camera angle

      1st finger 6th fret Low E string 3rd finger 8th fret A string. Hope that helps

      There's no strict rule that it ''should'' be down picked. Alternate is easier, and better for the wrist.

    I down pick this riff because it sounds right to me when i try do it alt picking it sound so messy how you get it to sound that clean is amazing 😂good job

      Hi Reece, the method i use seemed natural to me and I noticed that is the way that Ritchie Faulkner plays it. Very hard to see what Glen does as his fingers and hands hardly ever seem to move !!!

      @@reecetony7096 I will take your word for it Reece. With a locking trem system on the guitar with my busy teaching schedule the last thing I have time for is tuning down a half tone. Did it once and promised myself I would never do it again!!
