    The Law&Crime Network's Angenette Levy is joined by Doug Bishop and Nick Rinn, founders of "Adventures With Purpose", who found Kiely Rodni's vehicle over the weekend. The 16-year-old went missing on August 6 after a party at a campground near Truckee, California. Sheriff’s deputies apparently searched a lake nearby where Kiely’s phone last pinged and didn’t find her. Bishop and Rinn asked to help and found Kiely’s SUV in less than an hour in the same spot that had been searched before.

      This. My dad was a firefighter. One day, he picked me up late from school because he responded to a fatal car crash - was literally first on scene. He held a woman’s head still and spoke to her as she passed from her injuries. I asked him how he felt. He snapped “don’t ever ask me that again. If I think about it too much, I can’t do my job.” And I never did ask him again. There is a level of compartmentalization that first responders, rescuers, and recovery experts must do in order to do this emotionally hard work.

I knew how matter of fact he spoke about those things and should have realized why he was like that and that I should not have asked. Thankfully, mental health care is now a much bigger part of the first responder experience than it was during his life/career. AWP is essentially using a state of the art fish finder system. It outperformed what law enforcement agencies had and the fact that they found the target in 35 minutes vs. LEOs floundering for 19,000 man hours over two weeks says something.

    • @cerebraltackle
      @cerebraltackle Год назад +2

      Yes, Side, Down and Live scan systems were originally (kind of) designed for anglers...they also were designed for recovery. Law enforcement in our area used Side Scan when it first came out to find submerged bodies of anglers who had fallen in and drown. Don't knock this equipment as "fish finders"....it's not that simple. They were designed to do much more. However, the professional angling community was the best demographic to target for development and sales.

With that said, LE does not have to “allow” them to search, they can search any time or anywhere they choose, unless it’s a restricted area they cannot enter. In this sad tragedy, the areas were not closed, therefore, they could have searched no matter what. If you watch some of their other videos on their YT channel, families/friends request their service and LE was not necessarily on board with it but, they still searched because it was not any restricted areas. It definitely makes things easier for AWP, families and LE if everyone is on the same page but, AWP always does what is best for the families.

Sadly, a lot of police forces don’t look in places family suspect them to be in, and that’s usually where they are(doesn’t seem to be the case here) People who have been lost for YEARS are found in less than an day all because someone just took the time to look in the right spot

    It begs the question as to how law enforcement can’t locate those that are missing, literally right under their noses, in this case 14ft of water 55 ft out from where she went in and AWP can locate in under an hour. Are they not seriously searching to the best of their ability? AWP has solved 23 cold cases so far that law enforcement, over the years, could not solve. Great work AWP! Big fan…

    AWP, classy and well spoken as always. I've watched them for a while and it still amazes me how they have brought so many people home to their loved ones. I will never understand how often times, LE either searches and doesn't find anything, or they refuse to look. Not having the equipment is not an excuse. We can afford it. This happens often enough that it is time each state puts together a team or two specifically for underwater searches with the proper equipment. I know sometimes they do the best with the resources they are provided, like in this case, but I've seen LE straight up decline their assistant or lie. I think they feel embarrassed that a group of youtubers is trying to do their job for them instead of focusing on what is important - bringing the deceased home and bringing closure to their loved ones.
    Thank you for bringing this sweet girl home so she can rest in peace. I know it cannot be easy to do this job. Her family finally has the answers they needed so they can start the healing process. I can't imagine how scared Kiely must have been.... That is a horrible way to go. 💔
