  • Martin Luther King Junior's dream was that one day his four little children would be judged by the content of their character not the color of their skin. His niece Dr Alveda King talks to Tim Vince about what that meant to her growing up and to her Christian life. The interview is filled with memorable quotes such as 'There's a difference between being awake and being woke’. Alveda addresses the challenge of abortion. "All around the world, not just in America, not just UK people, have this discussion, 'Should we give a woman a right to choose what she does with her body?’ Absolutely, I'm a woman, you have to, we have to remind her, "sweetheart the baby's not your body this is nine months”. So how do we protect, you protect, the life of a child and help society. During this wide ranging interview Alveda talks about her music and we hear a version of her song ‘Occupy' which she believes will speak to all generations to occupy now until Jesus comes back. We occupy by loving each other, finding solutions that will heal and bless. We teach each other we're not trying to be exactly woke but we're trying to be awakened to the cause, the vision, the dream of humanity.
