Las Octavitas is a Puerto Rican celebration that extends the Christmas season into January:
When it happens
Las Octavitas begins on the eighth day after Three Kings Day and lasts for eight days. It usually takes place from January 7th to January 14th.
What it's like
Las Octavitas is a time for joyous gatherings that include music, dance, and community festivities. It's rooted in Puerto Rico's Catholic heritage, but today it's more of a cultural celebration.
How it ends
Las Octavitas usually ends with the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián, or la SanSe, which is Puerto Rico's most vibrant festival. La SanSe is a four-day event that includes parades, music, dance, traditional food, and art. It's held in late January and transforms the streets of Old San Juan.
Puerto Rico's Christmas season is one of the longest in the world, starting with Thanksgiving and including New Year's and Three Kings Day
I love it!!! I knew about Three Kings Day, it was always my excuse to leave the Christmas tree up until my birthday 😉

That is so thoughtful of you to include the help hotline information! You really are awesome! I imagine the short hours of daylight up there really impacts people's mental well-being sometimes. Thank you for having such a kind heart!
Yes, it can be tough, especially when it is dark for so long. 🥰 I need a trip to Florida 😅🌞🌴
Aww, the Yeti family so darn cute 💝 Wow, so beautiful the night in Fairbanks, it reminds me a bit of New York in winter 😍, I miss snow ❄️ from time to time 💖❄️💖❄️💖
I am so happy the dogs aren't testing out the yeti family. We have had issues with teddy bears before. We have a lot more snow videos coming up, we just had a snowstorm. ❄❄❄☃☃
I love your longer videos makes it feel like we’re hanging out! Our videos brighten my day! I usually watch during lunch!
awww, thank you 🥰
Awe you two are precious ❤❤ luv your little chat shows 💗 💕 😊
🥰
Enjoyed your videos. The reason after Christmas everything slows down is, everyone spent their money on Christmas. And usually does kick back up till tax refunds. I work at Walmart and it's the same. Have a Merry Christmas 🤶🎅
That is so true, everyone is I know, including me is broke after the holidays 🤣! Thank you and Merry Christmas to you 🎅
Thankfully it’s just a week until the days start getting longer. Christmas is hard but especially with not wanting to deal with toxic individuals.
Gaining daylight will help a lot! A vacation would be better 🤣
A little half way now 🥳 Yes this time of year I would rather vacation than having all the moving parts to make tradition happen, expectation, and make everyone a little happy is a lot to juggle vs a plan vacation lol Thank you for including those hotlines. I add them during my Live Stream but never thought about adding them on the regular.
I totally agree, it’s a lot to juggle and take care of! But we do it 😉 🥰
Hi Bears 🎄🎄🎄 Happy Vlogmas! Well, tonight I had sound effects with dinner as you were driving 🙃🙃 Never know what Hubby will be doing 😊😊 This does tend to be a very stressful time of the year for many ... great idea to include the hotlines. It's just the three of us so we keep things pretty laid back, but festive. It has made such a big difference the last four months with Hubby able to work from home. I think he has only had to go into the office once or twice and that was because he had to go out in the field. Have a wonderful Friday evening. See you tomorrow. 💜💜💜
Hi there!!! Haha, I have lots more driving videos, we have lots of snow and soon more Christmas lights, LOL. I bet it is nice he is home. I need to find someone like that 😉 you are so lucky. 🥰❤🎅
❤
My mum was born on Friday 13 ❤x

Xmas is just around the corner. Finals are next week. Still very busy driving. There was always something special about Fairbanks and North Pole during the Holidays. The 'old Steese Highway' has the same 'feel' in the video as it was back in the day except some new stores and shops are there versus the ones I remember. I hope your putting all the 'caffeine' to good use. Its not good to overheat or sweat there this time of the year.
Our students here have 3 early outs, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, then they are out until the 6th or 7th. School was cancelled today due to snow. More than a foot in less than 24 hours. The Old Steese is one of my main roads, there are still a lot of the old stores there. I am fully caffeinated 🤣🥳
The Tradition of Three Kings Day
Each January 5th, kids join their parents to cut fresh grass and set it in a shoebox under their beds, under the Christmas tree (just like the cookies for Santa Claus), or in a place that is not easy to miss. They hurry into bed as soon as night falls, and the whimsical anticipation for the arrival of the Magi at dawn sets in.
It is not specified when, but legend has it Los Tres Reyes (the three kings) arrive on their camels sometime after the children fall asleep. And much like the red-suited, white-bearded northern counterpart does a few weeks earlier, they leave presents for the well-behaved kids. But, being a tropical paradise with no camels in sight, the Magi travel on horses. As the wise men leave the presents by the shoebox, the humble carriage snacks on the grass the children kindly laid out for them before magically moving on to the next house. As soon as the rooster sings in the early morning, families across Puerto Rico wake to find presents for them. Just like in the Bible, the Magi's gifts come from a humble and kind heart - which is why in most cases, they're not even wrapped and are just piled up next to the shoeboxes. They open these presents surrounded by family members, and a traditional Three Kings Day celebration begins.
Thank you for this ❤❤❤🎄🐪

In numerology 13 is a 4.
Wow, really, I studied it when I was a teen, but don't remember anything.
