I moved to NYC from Tennessee in 2008. Didn’t know a soul. It was the most empowering feeling in the world. It takes a lot of strength to follow your dreams. I never felt like I belonged in TN. Be proud of yourself. I will never regret my decision. I now live in NJ, but I had a good 8 year run living in Manhattan/Brooklyn. Some of the best years of my life. ❤ Enjoy yourself

I graduated in May and almost immediately moved away from my college town to start my job. Hearing someone put it to words the loneliness I've been feeling is so reassuring and makes me feel less alone.
I moved to Hawaii immediately after graduating from college. I was also moving in with my boyfriend for the first time. I TOTALLY get it when you said you don't want to sound ungrateful. I felt trapped in this weird "But you are living in paradise, how hard can it be?" and feeling incredibly overwhelmed and lost just like I was having a quarter life crisis. The things I learned about myself during that time have made me who I am today. Here we are 10 years after that move, married, and have made multiple big moves across the country. Now that we have put down some roots, we actually miss that feeling of being pushed outside of our "comfort zone". Looking back at my time in Hawaii, I wish there was someone who could have told me that everything would be ok. Even if it doesn't turn out exactly how you imagined and it's NORMAL to feel overwhelmed and a little lost with every big move. Just remember, it doesn't matter if you are drowning in 2 feet of water or 10....it's still drowning. Take time to settle in, enjoy each other, and make this the adventure of a lifetime.
Can I just start by saying, I am so proud of you? We've never met, nor do we know each other personally, but I am so proud of how far you have come and where you are going. You have gone through such a transition period that I would be surprised if you didn't have a whole whirlwind of emotions and thoughts right now! It's ok to feel all the feelings, talk about all the things, and let the cards fall where they may as you work through this adjustment time. Sometimes the uncomfortable feelings are the ones we really need!! I know it's hard to drown out all the nay sayers, but they're not living your life and really don't know what they're talking about. They are only going to have as much power as you let them have. You and Will have started a new adventure together and I know that God has great plans for both of you as you live, learn, and grow together. Every struggle you experience together will make you stronger as a couple, even during the times that suck the most. I'm 33 and have had my fair share of experiences, but you continue to teach and inspire me! You taught that it's ok to "Be the girl that just went for it" because you never know how great the next step will be! I would say of course you feel more anxious. You said it yourself, you step out of your comfort zone and stepping into a whole new life journey. I find it super normal to feel more anxious. I think it will get better as you get into the new routine. You got this.
Lauren - you need to forget the haters. No matter what you do, there will always be someone out there who is unhappy in their own life. Those people find tearing others down boosts themselves. as someone from new york who moved from long island into the city it is a really hard transition from college to full time work here with making friends. but new york has so many communities, special interest groups and all around kind people that you can explore and get to know! no one’s ever really alone here!
Girl, you are exactly where I was 5 years ago when I moved from a rural Missouri town to a beachside town in Florida with my boyfriend (now husband 🥰) to live together for the first time. Scary and confusing doesn't even begin to describe what you're feeling. You're telling yourself all the right things: it will be okay and this is totally normal. Feel your feelings, explore your new home, settle into a routine, continue making amazing content, be with Will, and then everything else will fall into place and start feeling "right." Leaving home was the best decision I ever made - I believe it is one of the healthiest and best things someone can do to benefit themselves and grow as a person. I hope you start feeling better soon - it took me a while, so don't feel discouraged if the feeling is still there in a year or more. Just take it a day at a time 🩷 And yes, it's totally normal to not feel homesick!

Lauren there's soooo much that you're about to learn in being in a big city with MANY resourceful transportation options that many cities in the US don't even have. I know having the comfort of having a car makes it easier to travel from A to B and carrying heavy things. But, many people who have nice and interesting apartments in nyc (those who love vintage shopping or furniture hunting) are willing to travel by bike OR skateboard and carry stools, chairs, lamps, you name it. It's all about just being careful and finding ways of traveling that makes it so convenient about the cities in New York. So don't be scared in learning the routes of the subway (bc they can be overwhelming) and get comfortable with your bike, even add in a basket if you must.

But the uncomfortability you are feeling now truly does help you grow: the art of making new friends and making big life changes is something that will change the way you see life from now on! I totally understand, I’m from South Carolina and I always knew I wanted to live in a bigger city but when I moved adjusting was really hard! Especially the first winter, I was very lonely. I think you just always have to remind yourself why you moved and keep pushing for the life you want. Now it’s been 2 years and I feel like I’m finally happy and grateful for my choice.
Lauren, moving to a new place especially a place as crazy as New York is such a big change! Taking time to appreciate that and feel it is so important. It’s hard to move to a new place when I’m sure there is a huge culture shock. You can be grateful and say that it’s friggen hard at the same time. Lauren, one of the many right of passages for every New Yorker is bringing a stool or any random piece of furniture/home decor on the subway, into an Uber or down the street. On the subway last month, I saw a young girl our age bringing a lamp on the other week from Brooklyn to the city and we had a laugh together. Last year I helped a friend move a Peloton from downtown to uptown on a rolling dolly LOL. Took an hour but it was a blast and we got hilarious comments from people on the street! The beauty of living car-free in this city is that people are resourceful and nobody cares at all if you're just shlepping random stuff. For groceries and home decor, I'd suggest getting one of those utility pushcarts (can fold and store in a closet) on days when you want to go all out at Homegoods, Target etc. Or just walking/training over then Ubering back; NY drivers are used to people using Uber for groceries and stuff, I've put SO much heavy stuff into Ubers over the years. Also, please do NOT be afraid of taking the subway alone, I take it daily! The NY subway is significantly safer than any car commute in America (where you're WAY more likely to end up in an accident from drunk drivers etc). I get that it may seem intimidating at first as everyone is in a rush and knows where they're going, but we all learned at some point! Practice with Will a few times but as long as you study the train lines for a day or two and follow the signs/directions, it's REALLY easy to figure out in Manhattan and the instructions are all on Google maps so you'll know if you need to look for uptown vs downtown lines etc. As fellow young woman, I've had zero issues over the years, truly. And girl my fellow train commuters in my neighborhood are bougie, I see Hermes and LV bags on my morning commute and nobody bats an eye, just have your wits about you. Also if you get lost or need help or whatever, New Yorkers are extremely friendly and you can ask anyone for directions. I get asked for help all the time, it's totally fine. Remember life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Just because you're not comfortable with something unfamiliar doesn't mean it will always be that way - make it familiar and you'll be just fine. :) Enjoy!

Lauren props to you for sharing your story with us! I've watched you since you started college and so much grace to moving. I've moved to three big cities in the course of my life. I lived in NYC for four years for college before, my biggest advice, is to find events, that's always a good way to make new connections. I think in NYC it's a huge city but feels like a small town when you get more comfortable. I would definetly check out a church, my biggest advice after moving to a big city having moved to NYC is to find things that are important for you, make a schedule and keep to it. And really find spots where you can meet new people, events, church, Will's work friends. Try to get out and meet lots of new faces and that will help feel more comfortable and safe and secure. I also just made a huge move to go back to school to Boston after living in my hometown for a couple years. I just moved too for nursing school to change my career and I will say it's easier when you have an excuse whether it's work or school in meeting new people. So I totally feel your transition stress and just in general a move is a huge mess. Also your apartment in terms of NYC is amazing!!!! Ya'll really stop coming for her she's growing and living and we all need some of that move and uproot our lives once and a while, I'm doing it too so it's so hard so leave her be!!! Moves take about a year in my opinion only, but only after a year did I ever feel comfortable and settled, friends etc... So give her a moment geese
I think it’s the isolation in your new space that’s making you more worried about strangers’ mean comments. That’s been my experience in the past with social media before I had a lot of friends around me irl.
I moved out of state after living in one spot my whole life. My bestie came with me, but left behind all my family and friends. It’s coming up to a year since I moved. It’s a HUGE change and even after a year, I have my moments. You have to remember it’s ok and to allow yourself to feel/process those emotions and feelings from moving. It’s normal and you’re not alone. It’s a huge adjustment and exciting time! You’re doing great Lauren and have been watching you since you were a freshman in college. ❤

My husband and I with our kids visited New York a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I am not a big city girl at all, but it has so much to do and see. I also love the fact that you can just hope on the subway to get around to different areas. We also loved the train. Our vacation started out in Boston for a couple of days and instead of flying into New York we took a 3 hour train ride from Boston to New York. It was so nice. I definitely want to visit the East Coast again soon. You will enjoy the winter. It is hard for people that don't enjoy the winter and cold to understand others that actually don't mind it. I just tell myself it is only a few months of cold so it really isn't that bad. Have fun on your new adventure!

I feel you on every level! Even being in my early 30s, I struggle with mental health and day to day life. It’s hard to adjust after college, but you will. We all have hard days but we have each other to make it through the chaos! You’re not alone.
I moved from Maryland to Alabama last fall to start my PhD, and I felt just like you do now. Its still hard a year on, I am still working on building a community, and the pace of life is mind-bendingly slow here, but it does get better! You are doing fantastic for just having moved a month ago!
I went on a trip to NYC in March and I took the subway and it was honestly way better than I thought. So many people said that it is dirty and you won’t feel safe. But didn’t feel that way at all. Such a cool experience.

Hun, I did the same thing. I grew up in a wide spot in the road in Eastern KY. My mom tells everyone the first thing I learned to read was the bus schedule out of town. I went to college two hours away to the biggest town in the state, then moved to Chicago once I graduated. What you are doing is normal. You feel like you were meant to do big things in a bigger place. And after you do that for a while, you may realize that it's exhausting trying to find parking and trying to haul all those groceries around. Or you may love it. But don't let other people limit YOUR dreams. You may fall flat on your face or you may be a raging success. But at least YOU TRIED. That's all you can do in life. We all have those little moments. I remember after I moved to Chicago and my parents left, I got on the phone with my best friends and cried for an hour. I was afraid of being a failure. And I WASN'T. You won't be either. Go for it.
Lauren, you are doing great! Have someone remove the negativity, especially if you’re feeling vulnerable. I love that you talk about mental health and prioritize it in your life. I definitely suggest a DBT skills group, I have anxiety and this turned my life around. My husband is also quiet and easy to live with. Our first year was still hard. Communication is so important, plus faith that when the other person does something that irritates you, that they did not have malicious intentions. Also, join some classes, groups etc, to develop that connection you need.

I started law school and moved out of my family home to my own flat at the same time. I was on the struggle bus for about a year because I was renovating the flat too. The first semester I was just pushing ahead and still got good grades, but I crashed in second semester a bit. Take time for yourself, I think in time you'll hopefully feel more settled and sure of what you're doing. You'll get there! Even good changes are disruptive forces that take time to adjust to :)

Ok. You are literally speaking my experience of the last few months, and years actually, back to me. I literally wish we could get coffee and just hash things! We're both 25, you're 3 weeks older, and I've also been wondering if this is a mid-life crisis.😄😩 What people have been saying about me and my now husband, along with making some steps and decisions in my life, had me struggling MASSIVELY the last few years. I've never had anxiety in my life. Always knew exactly what I wanted and pursued it. Always had the patience to grind it out and make the next step possible. Was so confident in my relationship with God and my identity He gave me. Went to school and graduated a couple years ago. Started dating my husband right after. It has literally taken me YEARS of trying to process things to get to a place of some rest and assurance within myself. I hadn't struggled with insecurities in years. In moments where I was alone and quiet and would work hard to figure out what was going on with me, I realized a few things within myself. The words you're saying make SO MUCH SENSE to me, and I hear the "figuring out what on earth is even wrong here" note of sadness and frustration. (I live 4 hours away, and girl, if you want a safe place where nothing will go anywhere, I am your girl. I get it.) So, for me, a lot of what was going on was that I betrayed my own character and convictions and conscience. That is SO heavy to even say and to have to weed through and process through. I disappointed and frustrated myself in my relationship with my boyfriend (now husband), largely and primarily because we were sexually active. The voice of God became muddled. And quiet. He let me do what I would. And I felt more and more distant from Him and lackluster towards Him. It scared me and broke my heart and I didn't know how to navigate my relationship with Him and my boyfriend simultaneously. People in my life who knew me well because I was such an open book and so in love with God for years, were concerned. I stopped getting deep with SO many people. Some of it I couldn't even discern within myself, and then what I could figure out scared me so much I didn't even tell my best friend what was actually going on in my heart and mind and spirit. It was INCREDIBLY disruptive in my spirit and emotions. My body felt my spiritual panic and wouldn't process food properly and I gained SO much stress-weight. I would look into the Word and kept taking steps in my life like what it says is true (and it is), but I didn't find rest in it, because I knew I wasn't honoring God. I felt like I was taking my own way, yet, He hadn't spelled out what the roadmap of my life should look like or who I should marry. I have slowly but surely been coming to a place of peace and confidence in spite of what a lot of people say and think of me, but it's been one of the roughest roads I've ever walked, including major childhood traumatic stuff. My feeling I have gotten in my spirit from you is that you are a believer. There is peace and joy and light about you, but also, a part of you that holds so tightly to certain things you want to experience in life, and your precious relationship with your precious person. Will is truly amazing. I know how EXTREMELY hard it is to get to the point where you love God so much, and value your relationship with Him so much, that you're willing to give up elicit sex with the person you love more than anyone on earth (except maybe your mom). Lauren, I don't know you, but I love you so much.😩🩷 You went from someone I love to watch and live through vicariously in ways, to a friend, in this video. My heart is heavy for you.🤎 It is SO hard to walk out of compromise and into peace and rest! It is so hard to overcome fear of man and let go of people thinking you're too liberal and don't really love God, or people thinking you're too conservative for loving and honoring Him and discarding you because you're too much, too serious, too "religious", or something. I GET IT. And it's hard, because there's a thing in us that wants to do something with our lives that holds purpose that goes way beyond ourself, but also, the joys of doing something creative like influencing. It's hard to open up about belief in Jesus, because of fear that we won't represent Him well to unbelievers, or that believers will come for us in big ways because they don't agree with certain things we believe or walk. I am so sad for you. I feel the desperation of the place you're in. God has slowly but surely been bringing me into a place of confidence and rest again, and teaching me how to. I think outside of this huge move.. which like such a huge move and change in so many ways. Going from college to young adult is scary and confusing and weird. Friends getting married and having kids and others moving and building a career. All these relationships you built in college are now scattered all over the place. It’s hard to make friends as an adult. You are in such a big transition in life. It’s okay to feel all the things. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders and a smart girl. I feel a little need to take up for Alabama! I left years ago after finishing college @ Auburn. I became a flight attendant and traveled the world. It was wonderful, but I ended up back in Birmingham (no cows in my neighborhood 😂) to raise my family. Like any state, you have small and large areas. It’s all about what works for you. Ok needed to pause.! The WEATHER! I am living in CT now but born and raised in NY. The winters have gotten so much warmer than they use to be. Not saying they aren’t cold because they are and can be. I moved to NYC from Tennessee in 2008. Didn’t know a soul. It was the most empowering feeling in the world. It takes a lot of strength to follow your dreams. I never felt like I belonged in TN. I moved to Hawaii immediately after graduating from college. I was also moving in with my boyfriend for the first time. I TOTALLY get it when you said you don't want to sound ungrateful. I felt trapped in this weird "But you are living in paradise, how hard can it be?" and feeling incredibly overwhelmed and lost just like I was having a quarter life crisis. The things I learned about myself during that time have made me who I am today. Here we are 10 years after that move, married, and have made multiple big moves across the country. Now that we have put down some roots, we actually miss that feeling of being pushed outside of our "comfort zone". Looking back at my time in Hawaii, I wish there was someone who could have told me that everything would be ok. Even if it doesn't turn out exactly how you imagined and it's NORMAL to feel overwhelmed and a little lost with every big move. Just remember, it doesn't matter if you are drowning in 2 feet of water or 10....it's still drowning. Take time to settle in, enjoy each other, and make this the adventure of a lifetime.
Can I just start by saying, I am so proud of you? We've never met, nor do we know each other personally, but I am so proud of how far you have come and where you are going. You have gone through such a transition period that I would be surprised if you didn't have a whole whirlwind of emotions and thoughts right now! It's ok to feel all the feelings, talk about all the things, and let the cards fall where they may as you work through this adjustment time. Sometimes the uncomfortable feelings are the ones we really need!! I know it's hard to drown out all the nay sayers, but they're not living your life and really don't know what they're talking about. They are only going to have as much power as you let them have. You and Will have started a new adventure together and I know that God has great plans for both of you as you live, learn, and grow together. Every struggle you experience together will make you stronger as a couple, even during the times that suck the most.
I'm 33 and have had my fair share of experiences, but you continue to teach and inspire me! You taught that it's ok to "Be the girl that just went for it" because you never know how great the next step will be! I will continue to pray for you as you and will walk through this journey together.

I would say of course you feel more anxious. You said it yourself, you step out of your comfort zone and stepping into a whole new life journey. I find it super normal to feel more anxious. I think it will get better as you get into the new routine. You got this.

Girl, you are exactly where I was 5 years ago when I moved from a rural Missouri town to a beachside town in Florida with my boyfriend (now husband 🥰) to live together for the first time. Scary and confusing doesn't even begin to describe what you're feeling. You're telling yourself all the right things: it will be okay and this is totally normal. Feel your feelings, explore your new home, settle into a routine, continue making amazing content, be with Will, and then everything else will fall into place and start feeling "right." Leaving home was the best decision I ever made - I believe it is one of the healthiest and best things someone can do to benefit themselves and grow as a person. I hope you start feeling better soon - it took me a while, so don't feel discouraged if the feeling is still there in a year or more. Just take it a day at a time 🩷

Lauren there's soooo much that you're about to learn in being in a big city with MANY resourceful transportation options that many cities in the US don't even have. I know having the comfort of having a car makes it easier to travel from A to B and carrying heavy things. But, many people who have nice and interesting apartments in nyc (those who love vintage shopping or furniture hunting) are willing to travel by bike OR skateboard and carry stools, chairs, lamps, you name it. It's all about just being careful and finding ways of traveling that makes it so convenient about the cities in New York. So don't be scared in learning the routes of the subway (bc they can be overwhelming) and get comfortable with your bike, even add in a basket if you must.

I totally understand, I’m from South Carolina and I always knew I wanted to live in a bigger city but when I moved adjusting was really hard! Especially the first winter, I was very lonely. I think you just always have to remind yourself why you moved and keep pushing for the life you want. Now it’s been 2 years and I feel like I’m finally happy and grateful for my choice.
Lauren, moving to a new place especially a place as crazy as New York is such a big change! Taking time to appreciate that and feel it is so important. It’s hard to move to a new place when I’m sure there is a huge culture shock. You can be grateful and say that it’s friggen hard at the same time.

Lauren, one of the many right of passages for every New Yorker is bringing a stool or any random piece of furniture/home decor on the subway, into an Uber or down the street. On the subway last month, I saw a young girl our age bringing a lamp on the other week from Brooklyn to the city and we had a laugh together. Last year I helped a friend move a Peloton from downtown to uptown on a rolling dolly LOL. Took an hour but it was a blast and we got hilarious comments from people on the street! The beauty of living car-free in this city is that people are resourceful and nobody cares at all if you're just shlepping random stuff. For groceries and home decor, I'd suggest getting one of those utility pushcarts (can fold and store in a closet) on days when you want to go all out at Homegoods, Target etc. Or just walking/training over then Ubering back; NY drivers are used to people using Uber for groceries and stuff, I've put SO much heavy stuff into Ubers over the years.
Also, please do NOT be afraid of taking the subway alone, I take it daily! The NY subway is significantly safer than any car commute in America (where you're WAY more likely to end up in an accident from drunk drivers etc). I get that it may seem intimidating at first as everyone is in a rush and knows where they're going, but we all learned at some point! Practice with Will a few times but as long as you study the train lines for a day or two and follow the signs/directions, it's REALLY easy to figure out in Manhattan and the instructions are all on Google maps so you'll know if you need to look for uptown vs downtown lines etc. As fellow young woman, I've had zero issues over the years, truly. And girl my fellow train commuters in my neighborhood are bougie, I see Hermes and LV bags on my morning commute and nobody bats an eye, just have your wits about you. Also if you get lost or need help or whatever, New Yorkers are extremely friendly and you can ask anyone for directions. I get asked for help all the time, it's totally fine. Remember life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Just because you're not comfortable with something unfamiliar doesn't mean it will always be that way - make it familiar and you'll be just fine. :) Enjoy!

Lauren props to you for sharing your story with us! I've watched you since you started college and so much grace to moving. I've moved to three big cities in the course of my life. I lived in NYC for four years for college before, my biggest advice, is to find events, that's always a good way to make new connections. I think in NYC it's a huge city but feels like a small town when you get more comfortable. I would definetly check out a church, my biggest advice after moving to a big city having moved to NYC is to find things that are important for you, make a schedule and keep to it. And really find spots where you can meet new people, events, church, Will's work friends. Try to get out and meet lots of new faces and that will help feel more comfortable and safe and secure. I also just made a huge move to go back to school to Boston after living in my hometown for a couple years. I just moved too for nursing school to change my career and I will say it's easier when you have an excuse whether it's work or school in meeting new people. So I totally feel your transition stress and just in general a move is a huge mess. Also your apartment in terms of NYC is amazing!!!! Ya'll really stop coming for her she's growing and living and we all need some of that move and uproot our lives once and a while, I'm doing it too so it's so hard so leave her be!!! Moves take about a year in my opinion only, but only after a year did I ever feel comfortable and settled, friends etc... So give her a moment geese
I think it’s the isolation in your new space that’s making you more worried about strangers’ mean comments. That’s been my experience in the past with social media before I had a lot of friends around me irl.
I moved out of state after living in one spot my whole life. My bestie came with me, but left behind all my family and friends. It’s coming up to a year since I moved. It’s a HUGE change and even after a year, I have my moments. You have to remember it’s ok and to allow yourself to feel/process those emotions and feelings from moving. It’s normal and you’re not alone. It’s a huge adjustment and exciting time! You’re doing great Lauren and have been watching you since you were a freshman in college. ❤

My husband and I with our kids visited New York a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I am not a big city girl at all, but it has so much to do and see. I also love the fact that you can just hope on the subway to get around to different areas. We also loved the train. Our vacation started out in Boston for a couple of days and instead of flying into New York we took a 3 hour train ride from Boston to New York. It was so nice. I definitely want to visit the East Coast again soon. You will enjoy the winter. It is hard for people that don't enjoy the winter and cold to understand others that actually don't mind it. I just tell myself it is only a few months of cold so it really isn't that bad. Have fun on your new adventure!

I feel you on every level! Even being in my early 30s, I struggle with mental health and day to day life. It’s hard to adjust after college, but you will. We all have hard days but we have each other to make it through the chaos! You’re not alone.
I moved from Maryland to Alabama last fall to start my PhD, and I felt just like you do now. Its still hard a year on, I am still working on building a community, and the pace of life is mind-bendingly slow here, but it does get better! You are doing fantastic for just having moved a month ago!
I went on a trip to NYC in March and I took the subway and it was honestly way better than I thought. So many people said that it is dirty and you won’t feel safe. But didn’t feel that way at all. Such a cool experience.

The ONLY people who say it isn't safe don't live here and are repeating fear-mongering talking points from politicians/auto lobbyists with an anti-public transit agenda for other parts of the US. The subway is the best, most efficient way to get around NYC. I carry around mini sanitizer in my bag if I touch the poles and I'm good lol

Hun, I did the same thing. I grew up in a wide spot in the road in Eastern KY. My mom tells everyone the first thing I learned to read was the bus schedule out of town. I went to college two hours away to the biggest town in the state, then moved to Chicago once I graduated. What you are doing is normal. You feel like you were meant to do big things in a bigger place. And after you do that for a while, you may realize that it's exhausting trying to find parking and trying to haul all those groceries around. Or you may love it. But don't let other people limit YOUR dreams. You may fall flat on your face or you may be a raging success. But at least YOU TRIED. That's all you can do in life. We all have those little moments. I remember after I moved to Chicago and my parents left, I got on the phone with my best friends and cried for an hour. I was afraid of being a failure. And I WASN'T. You won't be either. Go for it.
Lauren, you are doing great! Have someone remove the negativity, especially if you’re feeling vulnerable. I love that you talk about mental health and prioritize it in your life. I definitely suggest a DBT skills group, I have anxiety and this turned my life around. My husband is also quiet and easy to live with. Our first year was still hard. Communication is so important, plus faith that when the other person does something that irritates you, that they did not have malicious intentions.
Also, join some classes, groups etc, to develop that connection you need.

I started law school and moved out of my family home to my own flat at the same time. I was on the struggle bus for about a year because I was renovating the flat too. The first semester I was just pushing ahead and still got good grades, but I crashed in second semester a bit. Take time for yourself, I think in time you'll hopefully feel more settled and sure of what you're doing. You'll get there! Even good changes are disruptive forces that take time to adjust to :)

It is a part of life, and the moving and the homesickness, you are experiencing completely normal feelings - it's big, it's exciting, it's fulfilling. You are blessed and that is nothing to be ashamed of, enjoy it, and look for the opportunities to spread it around, with love as the motivator and not other peoples disjointed opinions. Ok. You are literally speaking my experience of the last few months, and years actually, back to me. I literally wish we could get coffee and just hash things! We're both 25, you're 3 weeks older, and I've also been wondering if this is a mid-life crisis.😄😩
What people have been saying about me and my now husband, along with making some steps and decisions in my life, had me struggling MASSIVELY the last few years. I've never had anxiety in my life. Always knew exactly what I wanted and pursued it. Always had the patience to grind it out and make the next step possible. Was so confident in my relationship with God and my identity He gave me. Went to school and graduated a couple years ago. Started dating my husband right after. It has literally taken me YEARS of trying to process things to get to a place of some rest and assurance within myself. I hadn't struggled with insecurities in years. In moments where I was alone and quiet and would work hard to figure out what was going on with me, I realized a few things within myself. The words you're saying make SO MUCH SENSE to me, and I hear the "figuring out what on earth is even wrong here" note of sadness and frustration. (I live 4 hours away, and girl, if you want a safe place where nothing will go anywhere, I am your girl. I get it.)
So, for me, a lot of what was going on was that I betrayed my own character and convictions and conscience. That is SO heavy to even say and to have to weed through and process through.
I disappointed and frustrated myself in my relationship with my boyfriend (now husband), largely and primarily because we were sexually active. The voice of God became muddled. And quiet. He let me do what I would. And I felt more and more distant from Him and lackluster towards Him. It scared me and broke my heart and I didn't know how to navigate my relationship with Him and my boyfriend simultaneously. People in my life who knew me well because I was such an open book and so in love with God for years, were concerned. I stopped getting deep with SO many people. Some of it I couldn't even discern within myself, and then what I could figure out scared me so much I didn't even tell my best friend what was actually going on in my heart and mind and spirit. It was INCREDIBLY disruptive in my spirit and emotions. My body felt my spiritual panic and wouldn't process food properly and I gained SO much stress-weight.
I would look into the Word and kept taking steps in my life like what it says is true (and it is), but I didn't find rest in it, because I knew I wasn't honoring God. I felt like I was taking my own way, yet, He hadn't spelled out what the roadmap of my life should look like or who I should marry. I have slowly but surely been coming to a place of peace and confidence in spite of what a lot of people say and think of me, but it's been one of the roughest roads I've ever walked, including major childhood traumatic stuff.
My feeling I have gotten in my spirit from you is that you are a believer. There is peace and joy and light about you, but also, a part of you that holds so tightly to certain things you want to experience in life, and your precious relationship with your precious person. Will is truly amazing. I know how EXTREMELY hard it is to get to the point where you love God so much, and value your relationship with Him so much, that you're willing to give up elicit sex with the person you love more than anyone on earth (except maybe your mom). Lauren, I don't know you, but I love you so much.😩🩷 You went from someone I love to watch and live through vicariously in ways, to a friend, in this video. My heart is heavy for you.🤎 It is SO hard to walk out of compromise and into peace and rest! It is so hard to overcome fear of man and let go of people thinking you're too liberal and don't really love God, or people thinking you're too conservative for loving and honoring Him and discarding you because you're too much, too serious, too "religious", or something. I GET IT. And it's hard, because there's a thing in us that wants to do something with our lives that holds purpose that goes way beyond ourself, but also, the joys of doing something creative like influencing. It's hard to open up about belief in Jesus, because of fear that we won't represent Him well to unbelievers, or that believers will come for us in big ways because they don't agree with certain things we believe or walk. I am so sad for you. I feel the desperation of the place you're in. God has slowly but surely been bringing me into a place of confidence and rest again, and teaching me how to. I think outside of this huge move.. which like such a huge move and change in so many ways. Going from college to young adult is scary and confusing and weird. Friends getting married and having kids and others moving and building a career. All these relationships you built in college are now scattered all over the place. It’s hard to make friends as an adult. You are in such a big transition in life. It’s okay to feel all the things. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders and a smart girl. You’ll figure it all out!! ❤️❤️ Don’t let the haters get you down. They’re just too chicken to chase their dreams.

I’m a new old fan lol…probably one of your oldest…pushing 60 here! Anyway when you talked about some of the things ppl were saying my mama bear came out and I was like let me at them!! Don’t you ever let any of these negative ppl dim your light. I can assure you that most of those ppl are lacking in their lives and that is why they tear down others…as the saying goes , hurt ppl, hurt ppl. Shine bright sweet girl!!!!

I feel a little need to take up for Alabama! I left years ago after finishing college @ Auburn. I became a flight attendant and traveled the world. It was wonderful, but I ended up back in Birmingham (no cows in my neighborhood 😂) to raise my family. Like any state, you have small and large areas. It’s all about what works for you. Ok needed to pause.! The WEATHER! I am living in CT now but born and raised in NY. The winters have gotten so much warmer than they use to be. Not saying they aren’t cold because they are and can be. But if you dress properly and are aware of what’s to come, I promise there is no need to be scared. It’s just another thing that you need to adjust to. So , in my case , I am a girl from a big city transitioning into a small town! (Los Angeles CA to LaFayette Indie). I came to this small town to begin my PhD of planetary science but have been struggling because I miss my home!
