With Thanks to Laura @ Brighton i360 - Love this City!
I immediately downloaded loaded Minstaller from the App Store and signed in and Bingo there was all the packages I had bought. Downloaded all and Motion VFX automatically installed them once I set the path. They are working great 👍 Major step forward for Resolve on the iPad 🎉🎉
Pleased to hear it! It worked first time for me too! Enjoy.
@@DarrenMostyn the more I use the iPad version the more I love it. Gives a new tactile experience in using it to me.
Loved it! Especially from 1:00 - 1:47 :) Great fun to watch...thx!
hah...glad you enjoyed it! Just a bit f fun!
Powerful! Makes me want to buy an ipad and purchase motionvfx packs. Geez! Darren can sell even without selling.
You dont have to have ipad. They work in regular desktop Resolve.
I finally got my good rig setup after moving, and just installed my MotionVFX packs. Yay that I can now have them on the ipad, too! And Brighton looks delightful! ☺️
Glad it worked for you. Its really simple! Yes Brighton is the best City in the world and I am very well travelled...Ive been to every single continent many times and there is no where like Brighton!
I really appreciate that you have to stand by a product before you agree to sponsor it. I will say motionvfx plugins are really great. Pricey, but great. I had a transition pack when i was back on final cut but don’t have any after switching to davinci. What packs do you recommend that are unique enough yet versatile enough for a newer videographer creating videos for small businesses, products, and real estate?
Hi. I firstly thank you for acknowledging my stand on sponsorship. I turn down MANY sponsorship offers to keep my channel clean and occasionally will take on one but would ALWAYS be if I use or completely approve of the product and the companies ethics. The packs I use the most are MHYPE, Cinema Titles 2, MKBHD, The RUclipsr 2 & 3 (good for subscriber buttons etc) and the Mtutorial. Hope that helps. There is a video tutorial for every pack so you can see what they do in advance. Dont forget to use my link...use DARREN15 or any other code that they may offer but use my link, then i get a small commission too at no cost to you. Enjoy, let me know which packs you buy ?
Thanks for the fast reply Darren. I know I’m not the only one that appreciates that kind of attitude regarding sponsorships. I’m sure thats a lot of money you’re leaving on the table and honestly I wouldn’t blame you for a minute for taking them all. But your choice certainly lends to your credibility and your viewers confidence in purchasing your sponsor’s products.
Anyways, I’ll check out those packs you recommend. I think a good titles pack paired with the callouts pack would help save me a lot of time and add a little flair to my videos. I’ll certainly come back to use your link when I do purchase. Keep up the awesome content! I’m here for it.
@@KnightmareOX Thank you, appreciated. I have a few more sponsors lined up but again, only the best products and I'll do them occasionally so as not to dilute my other content. Always would be with an entertaining or educational video - no hard sell style! ! And always to get my audience a discount where I can on quality products. (I negotiate hard with providers on your behalf!). Be aware that the callouts specifically do not work with the ipad as yet. This is due to the tracker node functionality in Fusion on the ipad which 'callouts' rely on. I love callouts too! All the best, Darren.
@@DarrenMostyn thanks for the heads up about the callouts! I like to switch back and forth between ipad and desktop so thats good to know i cant mess with callouts on ipad. Hopefully black magic add fusion to ipad in the near future!
Thanks for sharing your impression on MotionVFX
My pleasure - Hope it helps David. Genuinely fantastic products!
I wish instead of FCPX i could have purchased for Resolve, but the ones im using are really very choppy, my timeline is playing at all, Motion VFX effects are very heavy on system my M1Pro macbook pro sometimes struggles when i play my timeline with these effects, and on this ipad its not playing at all, im using M2 iPad pro 11
Ngl I didn't think this was going to be possible on the iPad version of Resolve. Really cool stuff, thanks for showing!
Edit: also time to upgrade my ipad.
No problem! Working great - Ive only been on it a day!
Nice. I came here for the Brighton scenery. It did not dissapoint 👍 Did you go in the i360?
Yep! The shot of me with sunset in background and the ipad is top of the i360. And chatting to the guy behind the bar is at the top.
Hi Dave, thanks for your shared experience. I have noticed that Resolve 18 iPad (free version) has colour management issues. I applied Cullen Kelly’s free 2383 DWG to DWG Lut in a DWG managed timeline and the result was beyond ugly. The solution was to change the individual node carrying the Lut to DWG. This was not expected behaviour!
What is your experience of using LUTs on the iPad?
Its tempting me to buy myself an ipad just to use this...
What are the advantages of Motion VFX vs the tools implemented in Davinci Resolve?
Pre built custom templates way beyond what Resolve has preset. You can make all MotionFFX by hand if you have the time and skill of course. I dont have time to make from scratch - so these are perfect for me.
@@DarrenMostyn Good to know!! I'll give it a try!! It was an honest question! 😉
Now if they can just port FilmConvert Nitrate to the iPad I'll be set...
Not heard anything yet.
Do I have to create log in account on minstaller to use motionvfx?
Yes. Thats how it knows what you have licensed. You can view on website without a login to view the packs and see tutorials. Enjoy.
Thank you Darren for your series of seriously good videos. Always filled with great insights. But let me ask about the iPad - it feels to me as a bit of a gadget looking for a usage. Compare with as example a macbook air. The macbook at the same price level has several features on and beyond what you get with the iPad. Exception beeing the touch sensitive screen and pen but I cannot really see that they make any great difference. What are your thoughts on that comparison.
Its the size really. IPad is truly portable. A MacBook Air is still larger, and then add the mains charger. IPad is not my main DaVinci Resolve suite, you understand that right ? If it is to be your ONLY resolve suite then you’ll already be needing that portability I guess. Works for me.
I travel a lot too. IPad on a plane is doable. Laptop on a plane is a struggle in Economy.
Better screen on iPad too.
@@DarrenMostyn Understood. My reference was my iPad 12.9. Including keyboard it is actually larger than my macbook air m1. About the same battery life and same size charger.
OK, you've answered your own question then ? Whatever works best for you is the right way. The beauty is, with resolve, you HAVE a choice! Hope that helps.
Any issue with using external storage?
no - it works fine USB-C
you really thought that wasnt an automated response...
I know it wasn't because I spoke with him after! MotionVFX PRIDE themselves on super-quick response times which is why I did it live.,
I can’t wait for neat video and dehancer and look designer and film convert to be released for the iPad version of resolve
Really useful video ! The integration of MotionVFX becomes so easy !
Glad it was helpful!
I don't yet own or use either the Ipad or MotionVFX - but I never say never, and will take a mental note that may help when I decide to purchase either. A really good presentation though, that makes me me want those products.
They are really great fx and titles. I genuinely use them all the time. See my last 12 months of RUclipss....full of them! A lot of fun making that one anyway!
Oooh yes! This is great!! Also, you were right - I enjoyed the quick Brighton tour (eheh)
Glad you enjoyed it!! Love this City!
Was that the voice of XtraShot at 1:35? I love your work Darren. Keep it up!
No. Not everything is AI. It was the voice of ‘Mark’. My cameraman!
Why would anyone want to edit on a LITTLE BITTY Ipad screen when you can have the FULL Version of Studio and all your ASSETS on a Laptop with a 17.3" screen. I carry a 2 15' HDMI cables and a connector. There are Flat screens all over the place. You also need WIFI Bro. YES/NO?
Lots of people already have an ipad laying around!
Also, nice for travel! I can see journalists on the road use this setup for the future who only have to send out shot cuts for the evening news.
Best of both worlds...the projects sync with my desktop when I'm in the studio. Why would anyone want to carry a huge bulky 17.3" laptop around ..? Seems crazy to me! All my assets on a SSd drive that fits in my shirt pocket! No need for HDMI cables - the screen is HDR P3 and accurate.
The iPad Pro 12.9" is not a little bitty screen. Unlike Windows, iOS is not plagued by code overhead and hogging hardware resources that cause random spikes of instability. There is also the fact that the iPad Pro M1 has Reference Mode for color grading. The iPad Pro M1-M2 have a 2.6-3.6 TFLOPs so its a beast when fully utilized with the Metal API because its not hardware agnostic, as in, it doesn't have to be programmed for multiple hardware architectures and configurations. This means whoever is programming Davinci for iOS/MacOS will get better at learning how to really push the M-Series similar to NVIDIA (CUDA). Its only a matter of time before programmers start providing GPU accelerated methods into iOS/MacOS applications, even real-time processing.
Full version of Studio works on iPad BTW.
Nice work. Really. I have been building a BnB on a VERY small budget for the last 4freeking years. Quick Question, I try to get everything for free. Because i baught a house and have no money. like freeware for the PC and free Creigs list stuff for the BnB to refurbish and so on. What should i use for editing tools that is free with no water marks? I am thinking about doing videos about making beautiful things when you have little money. But editing programs all suck or have water marks. Unless you pay. I believ videos MUST be beautifully engaging, informative and easy to understand. But ME NO MAKEY Hollywood movie here $. You know what I mean?P.S. pleas don't judge me by the 2 crappy vids on my site. It was just to see if I could even upload stuff with my 20 year old music editor and a phone. And the bad mu-zak to test background i had to wrght and compose and play and sing myself because of copy wright. so it is ...well ...its just background I mean why not try it? I was board. A test. this was only a test.pay no attention.haha
