What an amazing skill you have it must feel awesome getting to restore a piece of history like that. I'd love to learn that skill. The owner of that sword will be highly impressed with your work.
Thanks for all the nice comments! The owner of this sword wanted a restoration that would not replace the current materials as much as possible, and I'm glad he is very happy with it and so am I.
Those are the hands of a true master look at the staining that will probably never come off that lets you know that he has done this for a very very very long time

That's great. It seems there is a demand for sharpening in the world. When a Japanese sharpener went to England to demonstrate sharpening, he received so many requests that he could not return for six months!
@@HitoriDiy Wow ....yeah there's not to much people looking in Canada and the snobby sword people who have the money only want it done by someone who is Japanese or who has certification from Japan. But hey...if they want to spend $2000 to $3000 US by a popular polisher that's on them.
Amazing and very interesting! One big like and a new subscriber! But now, i have to go, digging into this wonderfull and valuable library of yours for the rest of the evening...
So the repair was one crack and there is three after "restoration" ? He has multiple horns should have remove the broken piece, copy it, replace original with copy, send the sword and cautiously and professionaly repair the broken piece for later restoration, if not send repaired piece to owner.

these are sort of skills that not many people really master, well done!
You are right, and thank you. I am working to preserve traditional Japanese crafts.
“That’ll do” is simply not in the Japanese vocabulary, only perfection.
Most “Japanese swords” sold online today are fakes made in China. Sad state of affairs
What beautiful work true artistry!!!
Professional and creative at work 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I see. The most important thing is not who does it, but the technology, isn't it? We don't want our technology to be buried, so we are sending it out.

The only thing, in much respect, is not to slam the Ken hard into the saya. But otherwise beautiful work, thank you for showing us
Beautiful work. A true master

What's the stone that use for "sharpen" the polishing stones?
👍
エポキシかぁ〰️〰️😭
漆かと思ってました。
そうですね、本当は漆を使いたいところではあるのですが…^^;
Can i ask you would do you do without epoxi, traditionally way? thanks
In the traditional way, such as for cultural assets, glue urushi is used instead of epoxy
The katana looks small but beautiful...is it belongs to the young samurai ?
By the end of the Edo period, there are many practical Wakizashi.
@@HitoriDiy i see
Good work 🔥🔥🔥 where can i buy it? im from Algérie 🇩🇿
Thanks for the nice comment! This is a custodial restoration, so we are not selling it. Do you have a sheath you want to fix?
i thought it was the sword like the tittle said, but it was the sheath...

Can you give us the history of that sword and its origin of smiting family???
I assume it belonged to a feudal lord or warlord at the end of the Edo period. This type of sword was popular at the end of the Edo period.
@@HitoriDiy あああ!!!なるほどう..
why include the sword in the shipment if the craftsman has to repair the scabbard/sheathe only?
To make sure the sword fits correctly, once the mouth of the scabbard is repaired.

Doesn't everyone have that drawer in their house where they keep assorted animal horn?
It contains animal horns, their powder, stingray skin, etc.
you did not restor a japanese sword... you partly restored the sheath of a sword...
why would you not like, if you disagree with something okay............................ but to not like, give a reason.

Dislike for misleading content. All you did was repair the scabbard, not “sword restoration”. A scabbard is not a sword
