    What an amazing skill you have it must feel awesome getting to restore a piece of history like that. I'd love to learn that skill. The owner of that sword will be highly impressed with your work.

      Thanks for all the nice comments! The owner of this sword wanted a restoration that would not replace the current materials as much as possible, and I'm glad he is very happy with it and so am I.

      @@HitoriDiy fittings and blades....If you have a good name sword that's rusted I can bring it back and I don't ask for much. around 22500 yen for each blade.

      That's great.
      It seems there is a demand for sharpening in the world.
      When a Japanese sharpener went to England to demonstrate sharpening, he received so many requests that he could not return for six months!

      But hey...if they want to spend $2000 to $3000 US by a popular polisher that's on them.

      In the traditional way, such as for cultural assets, glue urushi is used instead of epoxy

    So the repair was one crack and there is three after "restoration" ? He has multiple horns should have remove the broken piece, copy it, replace original with copy, send the sword and cautiously and professionaly repair the broken piece for later restoration, if not send repaired piece to owner.

      I assume it belonged to a feudal lord or warlord at the end of the Edo period. This type of sword was popular at the end of the Edo period.

    なんで補修するの鞘師なら鯉口ぐらい作れるのに、もしかして鞘師がいないの、それとも水牛の角がないの、昔30年ぐらい前にプラスチックで作った人がいたが、赤塚の平戸さん

    Dislike for misleading content. All you did was repair the scabbard, not “sword restoration”. A scabbard is not a sword
